Great location and perfect for a party of two. Listing reflected 2 (or 4 bathrooms) when in fact there was only one full bath and one half bath. Other than that typo, this property is great. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Would definitely consider staying in this property again.

This quaint cottage is in the heart of historic Southport, easy location whether you want to walk, drive or golf cart around. The house is a delightfully decorated historical property. Fully outfitted with everything you need. We truly enjoyed our stay!

GREAT LOCATION AND VERY CUTE PLACE. PERFECT FOR MAY 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND 75 YEAR OLD PARENTS AND MY SELF. ALL HAD A GOOD TIME.

Our stay in Mad River cottage was too short. The accommodations were nice, but we were unhappy to discover it was falsely advertised as 4 bathrooms and only had 1 1/2 in reality. We booked based on at least 2.

Not only is the cottage well equipped, but the Interior Design is fun and charming. It is also conveniently located to everything Southport!

Wonderful cottage, great location and quiet neighborhood! Owner has thought of everything you may need in this tastefully updated and decorated cottage in the beautiful historic district of Southport. Within walking distance to downtown or just a short drive. You won’t be disappointed.

Great experience

We were looking for a place that would be relaxing but with plenty to do. Southport fit that bill for us. Great restaurants and sunsets. The cottage was quaint and the porch was the best!! The amenities you would need were provided for. Highly recommend!

The house is very nice and cozy. My wife and I enjoyed sitting outside on the porch. The neighbors were friendly. Everything we needed was in walking distance.

After 17 months of working through COVID, we were overdue for a getaway. Mad River provided the perfect pied a tiere for our four days in Southport. We walked and biked and enjoyed the quaint and beautiful residential neighborhoods and waterfront. The property is gorgeously appointed with thoughtful amenities to make it a restful yet sumptuous retreat. Already looking forward to another visit! Had to visit Mad River store to pick up some treasures I admired at the cottage. I’ll bet you will too.

If we could have our own vacation home in Southport, this would be it! Located in the heart of town, we could walk everywhere, yet the beach was only 15 minutes away. The house was perfectly appointed, extremely neat and clean. We will look forward to staying again next season!

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at the Mad River Cottage this past weekend. It was our first visit to Southport and we already can’t wait to go back! The cottage itself is adorable and decorated so beautifully. The beds are comfortable, the water pressure in the shower is amazing and we had everything we needed to be comfortable. We also really enjoyed having the screened in porch and back deck. Most all the shopping and restaurants are an easy 5-10 minute walk away. We especially enjoyed sitting on the patio at The Wine Rack, dinner at Mr. P’s, sunset views and live music at American Fish Company and hanging out at Moore Street Oyster Bar. Don’t hesitate to book. This one is just as charming as it looks! Thank you for a lovely stay!
