Wow, what a stunning place! The house itself is wonderful, extremely comfortable and cozy with pretty much everything you could want. Having coffee beans on hand was a great touch to make it easy to have a great cup of coffee while admiring the fantastic view. While the house itself is wonderful, the view is that much better. The large porch and additional chairs down closer to the water made it easy to just chill when not out enjoying the rest of what San Juan Island has to offer. We would absolutely love to come stay again!

We had an absolutely amazing time with the view and all of the great amenities the house had to offer. We found ourselves staying in more than going out! Kitchen is fully stocked and ready for any type of cooking or dessert making that one wants to do! Highly recommend staying at this property, secluded, quiet, and beautiful. I know I will be back.

Just helpful hints for the managers ;) we wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

In the House of the Ocean Sun, I am thrilled to say that the home met and exceeded my expectations in every respect!The home is exactly as it's pictured and described; it's gorgeous, clean, incredible views, high-end everything. And a delightful bonus is that literally everything in the home is labeled, light switches, cabinets, towels, kitchen drawers so it was incredibly EASY to find anything I needed. I just loved that as sometimes I spent hours just trying to figure out what goes where and, of course, forget where to put things afterwards.The hot tub is the best I've ever used at a VRBO property. It's serviced and maintained and it's HOT - 104 degrees - and the view of the Salish Sea is unmatched.Also, San Juan Property Management did a wonderful job communicating and they were responsive to everything we needed. This property is expensive, but well worth the value. I highly recommend it!

I do not recommend renting this house in the summer unless and until the promised "air conditioning" system is replaced. In fact, the house has some sort of ductless heat pump system that does not cool the house when the sun is shining. The air-handling unit on the main floor did not function properly because it kept detecting that the unit was freezing up. Eventually, it started to drip water and had to be turned off. The air-handling unit on the upper floor only recirculated the hot air on that floor. We contacted San Juan Property Management, the VRBO host for the property. They sent someone to the house, but he was unable to improve the situation and conceded that the system was "not well-designed." We also spoke with Chris, the Property Manager for SJPM, who admitted that because the house is black, and a heat load builds up in the crawl space above the second floor, the heat pump system is not capable of cooling the house. It was hot inside and we were very uncomfortable. Opening the windows for cooler air once the sun set was not an option because there are no screens on the windows. We tried opening windows, but a lot of bugs flew in. Before you rent this house, and particularly given how expensive it is, you need to ask SJPM whether the "air conditioning" system has been replaced and screens have been placed on the windows. By the way, SJPM did offer us a "courtesy refund" of about 5%, but only if we ageed to say nothing negative in this review.

We are a family of 5 - My wife and I + 3 older kids. 5 night stay. From the moment we drove up and walked in, we were in awestruck. The location is ideal and the view is amazing! On the water and isolated, yet just 10 min from downtown Friday Harbor. Super comfortable and modern with all the supplies you need for a memorable and relaxing stay. Especially loved the espresso machine, vinyl record player, hot tub and grill! Appreciated the extra amenities and touches too - hot tub towels, extra coffee and espresso beans, laundry and dishwasher detergents, and champagne on ice upon arrival! 😊 We would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone!

We loved our stay. We VRBO often and this tops the list. Not just because the house was beautiful and in a beautiful location, but also because the hosts thought of everything (so we didn’t have to)! So many details, niceties, and it included everything you wish all rentals would include—spices, olive oil, TP, paper towels, laundry soap, dish and dishwasher detergent, literally everything. Oh, and we were greeted with a hand-written welcome note and a bottle of champagne on ice! Truly 5 stars all the way around.

Incredible view. Serene. All the right amenities, thoughtfully organized. This was a perfect place for my spouse and our adult children.

Perfect and relaxing location. The house was immaculate and exactly as pictured and the hosts were very responsive to our questions even on this holiday weekend. This was our first trip to San Juan Island and we couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful experience. The one bummer was the listen had pictured and mentioned a ping pong table as one of the amenities and we were looking forward to that as a family. The host did explain the last minute change once we inquired. And the details the hosts put into this home (champagne on arrival, lovely music playing, lavender, fabulous espresso machine to name a few) more than made up for this one detail. The view was spectacular.

From the moment you walk into the house, the view will take your breath away. The home is exactly as pictured … beautiful, clean, well stocked, and every effort has been made by the owners to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We are two couples celebrating our 50th wedding anniversaries and we could not have asked for a more magical place to spend this special time! On our last day, we saw a pod of Orcas from our deck!!! The hot tub, barbecue and outside spaces are great and even though it was a bit chilly when we visited, the view from the living room made us feel like we were outside all the time. Very nice house but be aware that there is a steep spiral staircase to reach the master suite upstairs which someone with less than agile abilities might find challenging. Our family likes to cook and there were some essentials missing from the kitchen like a variety of pots and pan sizes, a garlic press and working can opener and other kitchen tools. I mentioned this to the rental agents and they said they would attend to it. All in all, a very sweet spot!

Wonderful weekend getaway, and loved our stay on the island. Everything was well equipped for our stay. This is definitely minor, but you should get a new can opener. The one in the house last oks lovely, but is not functional.

Things we loved The view to this place is absolutely amazing!! Hot tub was in a great location on the deck, fireplace was warm and pretty, everything was labeled and easy to find. Although I was impressed with the quality of the rental I was disappointed in the details. There was no towel hooks inside the house or outside by the hot tub, had to hang them on door handle. Upstairs bedroom no door, and downstairs has a barn door. As two couples that came together you can imagine how awkward that is to have “sexy” time. Also you pay a premium for this property and a $500 deposit, yet they expect a 10am checkout and claim it’s “covid cleaning” you also pay almost $400 for cleaning. I find this extremely unreasonable.. 1 hour later checkout is nice to extend to guest that pay so much to stay. My toilet upon arrival in the downstairs still had pee droplets on it and the glass shower was still dirty.

The pix of this property are a perfect representation of the property! The hot tub in the morning was a great way to start the day. The fire pit in the evening was a perfect way to end it! Thank you for a great stay!

Couldn’t be more happy with our stay! The house was beyond perfect and felt exactly like home (but if home had the most amazing view on earth). Such a great location and had everything we needed for our dream getaway. Can’t wait for our next trip!

We loved our stay for our wedding anniversary! Just some quiet alone time with my husband. No kids, no hustle of everyday life; just a beautiful home with an even more amazing view! The hot tub was great perk and so relaxing. Very private and secluded but yet so close to town. We can’t wait to stay here again.
