My partner and I loved our stay here. The outdoor area has had a lot of thought and effort put into it, we used the spa every night under the stars and made use of the fire one night, there was even kindling and wood already chopped and ready to go which was lovely. Our dog enjoyed his stay in a nice back yard with lots to smell and it was so nice having him in the living area and balcony with us sipping coffee listening to the ocean close by. Location is fantastic so close to local beaches for dog walks, surfing and fishing.

House was good, nicely furnished. Aircon was a bonus in hot weather. Landscaped backyard was the highlight and spa was a great way to unwind after a day at the beach.

We were a family of 3 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs and enjoyed our stay here for 6 nights. The back garden was great for the dogs and the jacuzzi was awesome! Property was clean and comfortable and would stay here again. Only negative comment was the stairs that are in need of repair but everything else was great.

My family and our dog had a great stay. Enjoyed the hot tub and relaxing in the yard. The local area is beautiful with lots of activities to do and dog friendly places to go. The only thing that was a bit of a concern is the outside stairs (only access to the main floor). They were a safety concern for small children and dogs. I would suggest updating these. Other than that, it was a perfect holiday and a lovely home away from home.

The outside landscaping was perfect it was obvious that a lot of work and thought went into the design. As for the inside, the cleanliness was non-existent, the downstair bedroom bedding had to be washed. One of the kitchen cupboard doors was coming apart, the oven was sticky on the outside and was so dirty on the inside that the grease had to wiped out before we could continue to use it, the smoke coming out of the oven was scary, at one point we thought that the oven was going to catch alight. The bedroom carpets were not dirty they were filthy and smelt of dog odour. No dusting had been done. The downstairs bedroom was only accessible via the outside staircase (not mentioned in description) to make matters worse the sliding door could not be closed therefore could not be locked, at 9.30pm at night we were hunting around for some kind of doweling to stick into to runner grove (not impressed) Fly screen mesh on upstairs door was just hanging, many windows were stuck and unable to be opened. The staircase leading up to the main part of the house was a little iffy. The owner was notified on the first day in relation to the downstairs door not being lockable and the 6 days we were there was attempt to rectify the problem, it was not safe and should have been attended to asap. Now on the positive side, the decor was lovely, the location was great, the cottage itself is adequate for 6 people as long as you don't mind sharing a bed as there are 3 bedrooms with 3 queen size beds. Malua Bay is just beautiful.

Despite explaining that the place was slowly being updated there were some key elements that needed urgent attention, kitchen tap falling off, loud knocking hot water system, ceiling fans unstable and loud, inability to lock external door to bedroom downstairs , towels threadbare and external stairs is rotten (only entrance). Outdoor area was fantastic but didn't outweigh the issues inside, wouldn't stay here again.

An extremely clean well organised property with all amenities needed for an enjoyable, hassle free stay. Great for a couple with dogs. Close to shops and beaches and in a great spot with lovely aspect. Highly recommended!

The property was well equipped in the kitchen. Comfortable bedding Lovely outdoor area with a spa. Only disappointment was the weather!

Would not recommend to anyone. Barbeque was filthy. When opening a blind upstairs, a huntsman spider dropped out. No access to upstairs area from the inside. Outside steps look badly in need of repair. Melted cheese still on the verandah fence Wire mesh totally loose on upstairs sliding door. Pretty much just hanging there. Couldn't get full address from owner till the day before for "security reasons". Host not the friendliest of people. With any phone call, it felt like we were a burden. No soap in the bathroom downstairs. No TV downstairs. No kitchen facilities downstairs. When trying to enter the downstairs area from the back you needed to battle with the sliding door to get it open. No way this property would be getting any repeat business from our group.

Great place to stay, just outside of the rat race of the bay, close to a great little beach was great place to relax and get away from it all thank you

Had a lovely indulgent weekend, especially enjoyed the spa. House was clean, host was friendly and communicative, lots of thoughtful touches. Have to say we did have trouble finding the house in the dark, but once we did all was great.

Perfect for our family and dog. Walking distance to a lovely little beach. Very dog friendly yard. Loved the spa and the firepit!!! Everything we needed. Great hosts. Would book again. Thanks.

Also suggest putting a sensor light on outside stairs to second floor, or make internal stairs available. Oven and cooktop need a thorough clean with oven cleaner. The house at Malua Bay was lovely, we enjoyed exploring the area and it was a great base to stay. So nice to be able to have our dogs with us and to know they were safe in the backyard. We loved the fire pit and spent a few nights outside around the fire. Rod was a great host and everything was easy. Would recommend this property.

Cons of the property are some lack of basic modern comforts like a coffee machine or speakers for music, and it’s still being renovated with original kitchen and bathrooms in need of an update. Our family (including 2 dogs) have just come back from an amazing stay in Malua Bay. The house had everything we needed, was clean and well looked after, with lovely thoughtful touches such as colouring pencils and dog treats. The kids and dogs spent a lot of time in the newly landscaped backyard. We loved the spa and the fire pit in the evening. It was the perfect base to explore the local area and then come back and soak in the spa. Communication with Rod was great, he always has quick response if I had any questions and provided information on the local area, which was really helpful. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back again.
