My parents were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary and my brothers and I looked for almost a year to find a house that could handle 3 generations. This was the prefect house! The big dinning room table gave us a great space to eat dinner together and play games when we were done. The pool table, ping pong table and arcade games gave the kids plenty to do when we were not in the lake. The hot tube was enjoyed by all.
It was super easy to get to. Food Lion was close enough that when we had to run to the store it didn’t feel like a half of day trip. We enjoyed a movie in Roanoke Rapids.

We had a fantastic time at Carried Away on Lake Gaston. We had 20 people over the course of the week traveling in from a variety of locations, and Carried Away accommodated us all perfectly! We spent a ton of time on the lake skiing, tubing, fishing and traveling by boat to several of the lakefront restaurants, all within an easy boat ride. Renting the pontoon boat is an absolute must! The boat house was a favorite hangout as was the downstairs game room and bar where we spent time shooting pool and mixing our favorite drinks at night, watching old movies and playing video games. Views were spectacular, and the kitchen with two refrigerators, two dishwashers and ovens, along with the outdoor grill, was more than enough to prepare a few large scale meals for the group! The property is well maintained, clean and the property owners were a pleasure to deal with. We are grateful to have found this place, and recommend it highly!

What a wonderful place to spend a relaxing week. We love that when you rent the pontoon boat it is already at the property and you leave it there, so you have access to it the entire week. The kitchen is very well equipped and well labeled so you don't have to hunt for what you need. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and was super clean and ready to enjoy.

This was a magical week and Carried Away played a big part in that. It was my parents 55th anniversary and children and grandchildren flew and drove in from multiple states and time zones.
The house was terrific - plenty of communal space, but also private space when people wanted alone time. Great set-up on the dock with the bar and TV, loungers, and extra tie-ups. We had a jet ski on the short side and were able to tie our 24’ OB on the long side of the boathouse (there is a pontoon in the bout house itself).
Water is wadable right at shore but deep enough at end of dock that we could leave the outboard motor down in the water. The cove is very quiet and smooth for paddle boarding but only a few hundred yards from main lake for tubing and jetski.
Grill and Kitchen also amazing. We have two family members with strict dietary concerns and with two refrigerators and two dishwashers were able to keep everyone safe.
Driveway is a little tight for boat trailer but we parked trailer at top of driveway where there is more space. Worked great for Saturday AM departure.

Great house: plenty of room for our family of 16, ages 19 months to 67 years old! Wonderful kitchen, great room and large dining room table for family meals along with the outdoor dining spaces. Loved the boathouse & deck, highly recommend renting a pontoon boat and jet skis! Adult kids and grandkids loved the basement with billiards and arcade games. Beds were comfortable and all bedrooms were nicely furnished. We brought our dogs and the yard was great for them as well! Another nice touch was the ice machine in the garage! Had a really relaxing and fun week and we're looking forward to returning next year!

This property was everything i thought it would be, everything was perfect and so organized, i didn’t have to contact the owner not once!!! Everything was labeled in the kitchen we didn’t have to look for anything there was a guide book that gave us information on what stores were near and what activities we could do!! I definitely would recommend this property to my friends and family.

Despite the wet and windy March weather, we had a great time at this beautiful house because there was plenty to do. We especially loved the ping pong table in the garage, as well as the pool table and the electronic games in the basement. When it wasn't raining we pulled out the corn hole game as well. The house is spacious, clean, and comfortable.

We had a family gathering here and we could not be more pleased. Everything is ready to go and you will love how comfortable and spacious the whole house is. The double fridge and double dishwashers are a huge help with all of the meals we cooked there because we didn’t want to leave. The beds are comfy and the sunsets are amazing. You will not regret a stay at Carried Away.

This was a last minute family trip but we were not disappointed with the stay! My family of fourteen (and our golden retriever) had a blast. There was plenty of space to spread out and all the kids got their own room.
The back yard was so spacious. Our dog had plenty of room to run full speed. She even jumped in the lake a few times!
There was a fire pit outside where we all had s’mores and got to visit with each other!
The check out instructions were also very straightforward and the hosts were very responsive.
I definitely recommend for a large family get together!

Been looking for a place in Lake Gaston to accommodate our mini family reunion and this place is a gem! The layout and cleanliness of this place is superb! I love the fact that everything in the kitchen cabinets and light switches are all labeled which made it very user friendly! Easy communication with the host and very responsive! This was the perfect place for our family - all 20 of us! It had everything we could need and want. The large dining table was a great fit along with all the outside dining upstairs and down. Our family especially loved the two game rooms and spent a lot of time there. The outside fire pit was wonderful in the evenings, and the boat, kayaks and paddle boards were fun for all. They were super responsive for any questions or concerns, and showed up to give us boat instructions right away when we arrived. Great service all around! Highly recommend this location, house and property manager!

Carried Away is a beautiful home!
The house is spotlessly clean, and well furnished. The kitchen is stocked with many appliances, cookware, and dinnerware.
The beds are very comfortable, with soft sheets and blankets.
The large yard was perfect for games and family touch football. The dock is perfect for relaxing, fishing, boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding. We spent so much time playing around the dock area. The marina is only a few minutes drive and boat ride, which is s plus.
Communication with this house’s management is easy and they are very responsive.
We love this house and will be returning again next year!

House is set on a beautiful setting right next to the lake. House accommodated the entire family and we never felt crammed in. Having double appliances throughout the house was also great. 2 refrigerators, dishwashers, cloths washers, and dryers made our stay that much easier. Space in the basement was great for the kids to have some of their own space for games and pool. Hot tub was a nice bonus on the cool nights in February. I would highly recommend this place for a large gathering of family or friends to enjoy each others time and company.

Absolutely perfect accommodations! Spacious and spotless home, primo boat dock and cozy fire pit! Enjoyed every moment of our stay. The water by the dock is shallow enough for the young ones to play and have fun! The kayaks and paddle boards served the teenagers and even a couple of us older folks with hours of relaxing exercise. The pontoon boat looked and operated as if it just came off of the sales lot!
The property owner/manager and his staff are second to none! Professional, courteous and kind! They made the stay even more enjoyable! We will certainly be looking at a return trip! Well Done!

We had 11 adults come together from 9 states to do a few days of work and rest together.
It was PERFECT. Everything felt new and fresh. I especially appreciated how well-stocked the kitchen was with cooking equipment. We could make and serve everything we needed to.
I also appreciated that John always answered the phone when I called with a question and he arranged to have lights on in the house when we arrived after dark.
I highly recommend if you are gathering people who want to be together, but don't want to be on top of each other.
Great location on the lake with a good sized grocery store less than ten minutes away.

We had such a relaxing and memorable stay at Carried Away. Words cannot do it justice; this place was amazing. You can certainly tell there is a lot of thought and time put into this home. The kitchen is just absolutely perfect for hosting big groups. The cook ware is all top notch, not something we would normally see in a vacation home. Some of our favorite moments were relaxing in the awesome hot tub watching the Sunsets! This was truly a refreshing and amazing experience staying at Carried Away!

Carried Away is truly a one-of-a-kind property and home. The Sunset views from this house are just incredible. I am not sure I have seen a more beautiful Sunset and right from the back deck of the home! I would also like to say this is the absolute cleanest home we have ever stayed in. The bedding was remarkably fresh, even the comforters we could tell were freshly washed. Everyone staying remarked how comfortable the bedrooms and mattresses were to sleep on! There is so much to do at this property, from shooting pool in the amazing walk out basement, to bathing in the gorgeous spa. We could not have picked a better getaway!!

This is an amazing home. Perfect for a girls trip and birthday celebration. It was clean, organized, and spacious. Great fit for our party of 8 people. All the bedrooms were beautiful and huge bar downstairs as well as a large dining room table was perfect for group dinners. The lake views are absolutely beautiful as well.

This property was really nice, only things I can complain about what the water pressure is pretty bad, we had 20 people in the house and only one person could shower at a time, my 2 yr old got althetes foot for being barefoot (inside), they say u can use the grill but u have to fill the propane tank yourself, they have a fire pit outside but u have to get ur own fire wood, ($75 for them to bring it) for the price to stay there you would imagine these things would be included. We had the hot tub company come out in the middle of our stay to drain and clean the hot tub, which should be something done before we come or after guests leave. These are our complaints as a group, the house was clean and pretty spacious, was a nice week away with family.

Our family gathered at this lovely home to celebrate Thanksgiving and our parents’ 60 th anniversary. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate! We had plenty of room to spread out or to find a quiet place to be alone. We ate several meals all together at the massive dining table- seats 14!!
The sunsets were something to look forward to every evening and especially enjoyed down by the fire pit. We can only imagine how fun Carried Away would be in the summer! We hope to be back- thank you for a wonderful place to gather with our people.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed Carried Away for a week. We were able to moor our own boat in the dock slip and enjoy the lake views or the fire pit area in sturdy and comfortable Adirondack or lounge chairs. The expansive level backyard was great for our dogs. The house is thoughtfully furnished with spacious living areas. The mattresses are very comfortable and the beds are unique with USB charging ports in the headboard and 2 large drawers at the foot of the bed. The kitchen is equipped for a large group with 2 refrigerators and 2 dishwashers. The garage has a third refrigerator and ice maker. We especially enjoyed using the kitchen table for assembling jigsaw puzzles, a family tradition. The large dining room tables seat 14 or more, with 2 deck tables outside. The sunroom was used for reading and for a quiet place with door closed. We were grateful for the labeling of kitchen cabinets and drawers and light switches. We would certainly use this property again!

This home provided us with EVERYTHING we needed to have a great week. The house itself was amazing, the dock added to the experience, and the weather we had was almost perfect! The lake water was clean, the kitchen was the nicest one I've ever cooked in (the labeling of everything made it so easy to find everything), a place for every person to sit and eat. Honestly, the house could not have been more perfect for our needs. With family spread out, it was so nice to meet at one location, space for everyone and just enjoy each others company. I would recommend this home without hesitation, not one bad thing to say about it!!

This house was newly remodeled and it was beautiful. We had family from NY, PA, CT, SC and CA. Tons of room for everyone with lots to do - including ping pong, pool table, video games, hot tub, kayak and paddle board. We rented the pontoon boat and had lots of fun pulling a tube for the first time. We also loved the fire pit and fishing from the dock. The house had tons of dishes/silverware/cooking supplies all nicely labeled. Ice machines in the garage and lower level as well as double refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines were very convenient for such a large house and many guests. We would definitely return to this house.
