My mom and I loved our stay at the Shell House. Kim and Alan were super hosts. They responded to our questions in a timely manner and even provided us with suggestions and reminders of fun activities happening during our stay. Their home was so beautifully decorated and very clean. It was well stocked with everything we could possibly need for the week and they even left us a few sweet surprises! We loved enjoying our meals outside on the quiet deck and also were happy to have a great variety of beach equipment available to us so we could search for sharks teeth. The location was perfect being so close to the beach and only a short drive to restaurants and shops. Overall our visit exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay at the Shell House again!

Our stay at The Shell House was wonderful! The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Certainly appreciated all the snacks. The whole house has a comfortable vibe. Perfect for two couples as there is plenty of room to have your own privacy. Back patio is fabulous!! Enjoyed grilling a few times also. The house was spotless and we really appreciated that. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra few miles to Blind Pass beach. Soooo much better than Manasota! Also enjoyed Casperson beach. All in all, a perfect vacation!!

We had such a great time here. The house is very clean and cozy. Alan and Kim are super-hosts, so attentive and welcoming, they responded to our inquiries immediately and helped. The location is great, very private and quiet , a short drive to the beach and there’s always plenty of parking available. We will be back next year!

We had another wonderful 2 weeks at the Shell House! Everything so convenient, comfortable, and clean. Kim and Alan provide everything you need (tons of soft white towels, 2 sets of bed linens, many waters and seltzers and many sweet surprises), we could settle in so quickly. The location is fantastic, close to beaches, Pickleball, stores, etc. We recommend this home highly!

Hosts were responsive, helpful, and available. Property as described and shown in photos. Very clean, cosy, well stocked home. Comfortable seating and beds, lots of linens, great variety of beach equipment, and delightful welcoming surprises.

Kim and Alan were the best hosts! They thought of everything a guest would need at the Shell House. A grill and utensils and spices, beach chairs, towels, and bikes. Super comfy beds and yummy smelling towels! A state of the art coffee maker and all the kitchen supplies you could think of. Entertainment recommendations and all the local information you could need. The house is decorated so cute and is very warm and welcoming! We will be back!

This house is very accurately described by the owners. We concur with the other very complimentary reviews. The backyard is even more charming than the photos portray. It is simply a wonderful space with privacy and real ambience. The house is super comfortable and tastefully ,thoughtfully laid out. The owners are top-notch communicators and make a full presentation of all features for a positive experience stay. The beach is closer than you think, we made it a daily walk with chairs (provided) on our back, using side roads for half of the walk. House location is well-centered to an abundance of points of interest as you may seek. If you choose the "Shell House" , we are confident you'll enjoy your stay !

My wife and I along with my brother and his wife enjoyed a week in Englewood. Location was good. We got to all the restaurants we wanted to eat at within a 15-20 minute drive? Grocery store and Walmart even closer. The only bad thing was the weather which can’t be helped. We would have liked to use the back patio but that didn’t happen. If we ever go back to this area I would try to book this house.

The home has a very welcoming feel to it, and the owner does a lot to make you feel welcome. The place is clean and very functional. Good location in terms of distance to beach and proximity to shopping. I would return for sure.

Clean and supplied with everything you need for a great vacation getaway

This house uniquely combines home comfort, convenient location, and a quiet neighborhood. The fenced backyard and wooden deck make the nights spent outdoors secure and private. The level of hospitality and attention to detail in decorations and accommodations greatly superseded all our expectations. This house is more spacious and the bedrooms are roomier than appear in the images. Kim and Allan made everything possible so that our stay was memorable.

Had a great vacation week. This house looks just like the pictures and has everything you need and more! So so close to my fav beach! And all the special added touches made it so nice. You really don’t need to bring anything but your clothes. The location is perfect, close to the beach, stores, restaurants. So comfortable to stay in and watch movies or watching all the birds in the backyard. Decorated so pretty and prob the cleanest. Will definitely be back!

Places is very clean. Nice all beach needs are there to use. Nice grill as well. Only thing would have liked. Extra TV in master and a alarm clock.

This was overall the best place I have ever stayed at. Kim and Alan were amazing hosts which is why this was the best stay. They were very thoughtful and had neat little surprises waiting on us. They were very kind and extremely fast to respond when I asked about things to check out or questions about restaurants. They had everything covered from the beach equipment to restaurants suggestions. We loved the decorations and the outside space. The house was very nice and clean. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. There was even a house being built just down the road and we never heard one bit of noise from it. We have this place saved and will 100% be staying again. Do not skip over this stay, you will be missing out on a great host and great stay!

It’s located in the best quiet area, 5 minutes away from Manasota beach and close to Venice! Our one year old son loved playing on the peaceful and gorgeous deck. The shower outside nwas so so refreshing after a hot day at the beach! The hosts provided everything that is needed and more! Definitely recommend!!!

There is much to appreciate in this very charming property: It is clean, inside and outside. The neighborhood is quiet. The back yard is private. The bikes and beach equipment are clean and in good repair. There are many small touches throughout the house to enjoy, such as the tropical leaf arrangements. My husband and I were very comfortable in The Shell house. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We loved our stay at the Shell House. It is lovely inside and out and very close to the beach. It has everything you need for a memorable and comfortable stay. The deck is perfect for early am coffee and the living room is perfect for an evening movie. Debbie and George.

Kim and Alan are the best hosts! They did everything to make our stay feel like home…. But nicer! Lol Upon our arrival we found goodies for both the kids and parents. Wine and Champagne w berries for the adults and candy, chips and salsa for the teens. They were very responsive to questions about where to get this or that. They were also sure to ask if there was anything else they could do to make our stay better. The beds and pillows were very comfortable! The kitchen is well stocked. The grill is very nice and heated up quickly. It looks like a higher end gas grill. The beach is very close, a bike ride over the bridge or a quick drive (to get all the beach supplies to the beach for the day.) And the beach supplies are all provided! Chairs, noodles, umbrella , water games, shelling supplies, and boogie boards. Venice is a quick 15-20 min drive for shopping and restaurants are all nearby, as well. Kim and Alan are generous and welcoming hosts. We arrived to a VERY clean house stocked with coffee, a few local speciality food items, paper goods and excellent shower and bath products. The house is nicely decorated with many interesting touches. We felt very welcomed and comfortable. The location is a short drive to golf, tennis,shopping and fabulous beaches. Definitely a great value!

This Manasota beach rental home was even better than described because the hosts were so attentive and helpful. Wonderful surprises awaited our arrival (and I'm going to keep some secret so you'll have a surprise, too.) The beds were comfortable, walk-in closet was fantastic, water pressure was great, kitchen was fully stocked with supplies for BBQs, and the backyard was perfect for Alfresco dining,. The location was incredible, right down the street from the strip of beaches beginning with Manasota Beach. Nearby were the Englewood Pickleball courts, the Ann Dever community pool, the fantastic Englewood Farmers Market, and then all there is in Venice. We can't wait to come again next year!! This delightful cottage with tons of charm was a comfortable home for our 2 week vacation. Location is quiet and close to the beach and the house is well stocked with beach supplies, bicycles, and a wonderful grill. It was great!

This is a very clean cozy little home. We felt very safe and all we needed was provided. They are very gracious hosts who are very willing to help with anything that is needed. We felt very welcomed with a bottle of wine & chocolate covered strawberries in the fridge. Also, some yummy mouth watering chocolate candy!! Everything is in the garage for a day at the beach. We loved the large deck and gas grill. A special place to relax and read. Unfortunately, our plans have changed for next year but we hope to return sometime.

I was so lucky & blessed to find this perfect piece of paradise. If you are looking for the most peaceful utopian home away from home look no further. My meager words for this review will not give the Shell house the justice it deserves. I chose this location for our 10 day stay in Florida based on the excellent reviews and my family & I were not disappointed. Kim & Alan and their exceed expectations service they provide make Disney World look like a county fair. They pay attention to all the small details to ensure you and your family have an exceptional vacation. We were in FL during Christmas so they decorated the home. My girls enjoyed a Christmas tree Christmas morning, Kim left cute little boxes full of the girls favorite candy and my husband & I also had goodies for us in the fridge! We were relaxed our entire stay and felt like we were at home. The Shell House has everything you need for your stay: towels, board games, cooking supplies & utensils, grill, chimnea for outdoor fires, the high end organic bath supplies; it’s just a perfect paradise! I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels that did not provide such a great high end experience. Our flight home was canceled (part of the Southwest glitch) thankfully Kim & Alan were so accommodating. We were able to remain comfortable in our private piece of heaven until our flight home. I highly recommend booking this location for your stay. You will not be disappointed. We plan on staying here every time we visit family or come to Florida!

Owners very helpful and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Very quiet location.

Home owners failed to mention that their back yard borders a swamp. Also their neighbors at the end of the road have maintenance vehicles coming and going early in the morning..backing up beeping noises. Deck, garage, and driveway had lots of sand on it. The kitchen doesn't have a disposal. Plates, pots and pans, utensils, glassware appear to come from a thrift store. Bugs! Great backyard Grill! Lastly..find another rental!

The Shell House AND Kim and Alan are amazing! From the moment we walked in the door it was obvious they had thought of everything. The Shell House is decorated to perfection! Every day I felt like I saw a new little touch/piece of decor that I had missed the day before! The sand dollar stepping stones, the dining table light fixture, the coffee table, and the bedding were just a few of my favorite things! My husband particularly loved the huge flat screen TV. We drove 10 hours with two small kids in the car and when we arrived, Kim had left us the sweetest note, along with chalkboard artwork, chilled wine🍾, bottle waters, cupcakes 🧁 , and ice pops pops🍦! The kids were instantly happy and so was I! 😁😉 The bedding and towels at this property are far better than any other VRBO we have ever stayed at; and they all smelled amazing! Even my five year old son couldn’t stop talking about yummy his pillow smelled. They also had the garage stocked with everything we needed for the beach (comfy beach chairs, more amazing towels, snorkel gear, shark teeth hunting tools, bikes, beach wagon, paddle ball, etc.). The location of this property could not be better in proximity to the beach. There was plenty of parking at the public access which also had bathrooms and washing stations! We found tons of sharks teeth and shells (more than we could’ve imagined) and we saw dolphin on the beach daily! Kim and Alan were extremely prompt and responsive for any questions/needs we had! We look forward to hopefully returning to this property again in the future!
