It was perfect for our family of 6 host was super friendly and responsive

We had a wonderful family vacation .Location to the beach is perfect and the size accommodated us all.Some minor issues in the beginning but the owner was so nice and replied immediately to the issues at hand.Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to experience OBX without the busyness of shops and close neighbors

This place has everything you may need for a large group. The location is perfect, the house is lovely, and the lay-out allows for plenty of seating space and areas for guest to gather and relax. The infamous horses are every where. I was able to make meals for 10 people at a time, no problem. Lots of dishes, pots and pans, and utensils. The pool was a great respite after a long day on the beach. The only thing missing was a way to get from the carport to the outside shower, from the outside shower to the pool deck, and then back to the carport and inside without getting covered in sand again. My husband and I enjoyed the lower level bedroom, bathroom and sitting area with a beverage fridge and microwave. Our daughter and her family (hubby and 3 kids) enjoyed the second floor with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Our son, his wife and 2 children (22 months and 4 weeks) had plenty of room in the master bedroom on the main floor. This lovely home is amazingly perfect. I am only sad the family will be too big next year to rebook it. There was even a small welcome gift upon our arrival of dish soap, sponge, dish towel, coffee and a pretty jar of shells. A very nice touch.

The house was nice inside but really needs a deep cleaning. Kitchen cabinets,drawers,pantry were very dirty. Crumbs,onion peels etc refrigerator was really dirty inside. Freezer had red stuff running down inside it. I found a exploded can of pop in freezer. Dresser drawers had hair inside. Had to ask for sheets and pillow cases that fit beds. Could use some extra towels. One per person really is not enough. Screens surrounding hot tub were broke screens on upper deck where picnic table is all need fixed. Door to screened in area (upper deck) needs replaced. Rotting wood. Could not even put latch to keep it closed because latch is in wrong place. The wood is cracked on Front door where lock is. Looks like someone tried to Push their way in and cracked the wood. Washer was not working properly. Had to run cycle then run a rinse spin cycle to get water out of them. Washer or dryer is leaving black marks on cloths. Ruined some bathing suits and shirts. Light in bedroom with twin beds is not working. Had to use lamps. Refrigerator on bottom floor smells really bad. Weeds need pulled around inside fenced area or pool. Had to have them come fix shower on second floor. Rotting wood around sections of house. Windows are all dirty inside and out. Water was brown due to having well water. Owners did have cleaning service come with sheets and maintenance come and fix shower in timely manner. The house overall is nice but needs some fixing. Loved the beach and horses

What a great house and location. If you want a peaceful vacation this is it. The house was spacious and clean with a great view. There is noth8ng like waking in to see the sunrise on the top deck with a cup of coffee. We took picture's of the wild horses who walked around the house. The dining room has the perfect view to watch the ocean while eating dinner. We did not use the pool or hot tub but they were clean and ready for use. There was a small hickup one day with the A/C unit but the owners got it fixed in a few hours. The dogs loved the house and sunbathing on the deck. We hope to visit this location in future years.

The property was nice and as described. We had a nice stay with minimal issues. These were the type of things one would expect at a remote beach home at the end of a rental season. The owner was very responsive and did as much as could reasonably be expected to address them. The home was a good price for the size a layout. The owner allowed us to bring an extra pet without hesitation. He has not owned the property for very long so he obviously hasn't had time to make many updates. My suggestion would be to upgrade some appliances and hardware to commercial grade items. Due to all the sand and salt the door knobs and other door hardware did not function properly on several doors. I'm not sure if higher quality hardware would make a difference considering the conditions though. We had great time with our family. The wild horses loved to graze on the property almost daily while we were there.

The pictures do not do this location justice. The location is perfect if your looking to be away from the rush of everything. as we were. You will need to plan ahead on what you need to bring and ensure you don't overfill your vehicle as it will get stuck easily if it is weighed down. We brought everything we needed for a week and plenty of drinking water (the property is on a well). The Foodlion in Corrolla has tons of water so even if you don't bring enough there is a place to get more. The hot tub and pool were amazing and the beach is a 3 minute walk (only because the sand is deep). We woke every day to horses which my daughter loved. The house is quite large and you'll need to ensure your ready for the stairs especially during the unpacking and packing part of the trip. The view from the third floor is amazing and the the second floor deck is great for napping. There was a closet with plenty of umbrellas and chairs for the beach so you don't need to bring that. The drive from the end of the road to the house depends on time of day. Early to mid day the drive is easy and afternoon to evening it gets pretty busy. Don't be afraid to go around slower moving vehicles as you could end up stuck behind them when they get stuck. For parking on the beach you'll need to pre-order the permits online as they only issue 300 a week (this filled up quickly when we went). I would say this stay and this property are top notch and I and my family enjoyed every moment and plan to go back!

Beautiful home, neat location, horrible weather

First I want to say that the house was priced very well and considering what we paid its a situation of you get what you pay for. The owner is was very nice and responded timely as did his handy men. I just felt like the pictures online do not represent what we had when we got there. The pool even though we could not use it (and we knew that) was an eyesore. The house was surface clean but not deep cleaned but thats okay its the beach. The biggest issue is the water temp and pressure. There was only enough hot water for maybe 1 shower a day and if someone was showering you could not run water anywhere else in the house at the same time. We had an issue with the hot tub not working and being very nasty but we worked with Steve and his guys had it up and running for the last 2 1/2 days of our 7 day trip. We took trash out 2 or 3 times a day so as not to encourage ants but no one ever came to actually pick up the trash so it really piled up for the week and was starting to attract critters. I don't want to say it was horrible because it wasn't. We have stayed at way worse places. I think we were just disappointed because on the pictures we had this awesome idea of what it would be like and it wasn't. It is a lovely home and has great potential if it where to be updated/remodeled a little bit. Like I said though Steve and his team were very good and there is nothing negative to say about them or how we were treated :)

Our stay started out pretty rocky. We had on and off (mostly off) water for the first 3 days which was unfortunate because the location of the house was great but 7 adults in a house with limited to no water at times and barely any hot water was really not the way we wanted to spend our thanksgiving vacation. It also seems like the owners were aware of water issue prior to our arrival but didn’t let us know. Thankfully the maintenance team was awesome. They were so helpful and I honestly felt bad that they were out there digging up water lines, but again they were so wonderful and did the best they could to help us in a bad situation. Thankfully Tuesday evening around 11pm they fixed everything and we had water for the rest of our week. The hot tub also didn’t work which we weren’t informed of prior to our arrival either and was unfortunate because we would’ve used it. The rest of our stay was good it’s just sad we lost the first 2 and a half days of our vacation being extremely aggravated. The interior of the house is good but cleaning of interior and exterior could be better. Some bed linens were old and dingy with old stains …, just basic things that people notice. Overall our stay was okay. Without the water and hot tub issues it would’ve been great.

The property was located in a very serene area of Corolla just off the beach easily located via gps. All aspects of the property was as advertised in the listing. 4x4 is not optional to get there, and is highly advised only at low tide intervals. The wild horses roamed the beach and property freely, which was amazing. The beach can be seen from the balcony, and the waves heard at night. There are no streetlights, so it is dark at night, and the ocean breeze with the windows open was a welcomed relaxing ending to each evening. The sunsets were multi coloured red, pink, orange and stunning. The sunrises were also as equally beautiful. The surf fishing was relaxing and fun, with drum and whiting primarily being the catch in October. The property was well kept and had plenty of room. Definitely recommend doing your food shopping and fishing bait/tackle, prior to arrival as the closest place is the Food Lion, a mere 12 miles away, yet a 30 minute drive or so due to the sandy beach and 4x4 ride to the property. There are some quaint restaurants that are also in the area that we enjoyed. Definitely recommend to visit this place as Steve, the owner was very nice, hospitable, easily reached and welcoming. Great experience, and highly recommended

We had a fantastic week loading up the Tahoe and spending the day on the beach. We were very pleased with the beach house. Super comfortable furniture, good WiFi, enjoyed watching football on the TV. Appliances worked well. Really appreciated the pool being open first week of October. The beach table and stools were a bonus for lunches on the beach. I would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends. The only reason for 4 stars were the outdoor spaces. They definitely need some love. Overall, a fun time was had by all!! It was very easy to rent. Owner very helpful. Location was great very short walk to beach.

We had a terrific time at Out of the Blue. The spacious house was very well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed and there was plenty of beach equipment available for use. We never tired of looking at the ocean views and wild horses spent some time in the backyard several days of our visit. It was a short walk to the quiet beach where we had plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. The pool and hot tub were perfect for relaxing when we weren’t, at the beach. The house was a nice distance away from other houses so it afforded a lot of privacy. We had 2 questions during our stay that were promptly answered by Steve. We had an amazing stay-thank you!

The home is in an amazing location. Short walk to the beach. We seen the wild horses everyday! We were also lucky enough to see dolphins during our stay. The home was clean and ready upon arrival and Steve was very attentive.

Staying at 'Out of the Blue' was an enjoyable experience with my family! The place was spacious with the fun amenities of a private fenced in pool and hot tub. All amenities worked well and were used throughout our stay. The ride to the rental is an experience itself, so saddle up if it's your first time driving on a 4x4 beach! Make sure to deflate your tires before you get to the entrance. There are air pump signs in Corolla and the owner provides tips & tricks for you as well. The wild horses were a joy to see and they will travel by the beach house thorough out the day. You'll get wonderful views of them and the beach on the top deck! We can't wait to go back again in the future.

We really enjoyed our stay. Great location and plenty of room in the house for our family. Beautiful view of the ocean from the decks. Loved seeing the horses every day. The sitting area above the kitchen provided fantastic views. Great communication while booking and throughout the process and stay.

This was such a relaxing vacation! Wild horses every day, that others had to take a tour bus to come see. Quick and easy walk to the beach. Perfect size pool and hot tub was a bonus. Perfect for what we needed to enjoy with our friends and family! Thank you, Steve!

I have pictures of what this property looked like when I arrived and it does not look like the pictures posted. I had problems with the landlord Steve from the get-go because I had 9 girls with me. On the 2nd day I received a message telling me that I was evicted because he assumed that we had too many people in the house at one time. Bugs everywhere, snakes, algae covered entire deck, sand on beds, no sheets on any beds upon arrival, no toilet paper or paper towels, one bath towel per person, sand in mini fridge freezer, horse feces everywhere, huge unpassable pond in front of house for the entire stay, constantly accused of wrongdoing and looking for ways to evict us and keep security deposit. Pictures upon arrival do not lie.

Great, quiet location! Property is just as described, a bit of an adventure getting there and I would highly recommend arriving in the daylight if you’ve never navigated it before, but once we figured it out, it was no problem. The hot tub was amazing, the kitchen was super well stocked, the beach was super convenient, but being one “block” off it added to our privacy and quiet without compromising the view. Property owner and local property managers were amazing and helpful.

This was a wonderful, secluded house from main busy life. We packed food for a week and only left once. The pool and hot tub was an added bonus. There are snakes by the pool but not a bother. The top deck has loose boards and rusty nails poking out so wear shoes and be careful! The water pressure was our only disappointment... you could only use one water source at a time. Youll have to take a shower outside if you want a consistent hot shower. The house for us was perfect. It needs a good deep clean. Everything is dusty inside like vents and fan blades. If your nit picky, its not for you. For us, all we need was the beach to be happy. The house was for eating and sleeping. We would stay again though. Any issue we had the owner was very attentive and helped us immediately. Thanks steve! Til next year..

The caretakers are incredibly helpful, kind, and patient. We were not prepared for 'beach driving', haha, but that is on us and was a FUN learning experience. I would recommend this place for anyone wanting to stay in a nice, quiet area (at least it was during our stay off-season) with easy beach access and great views. Our kids loved it and we did too!*My middle child asked that I include the breakfast nook, it was his favorite place in the house and the views were amazing!

Great location and barely anyone else nearby on the beach. It was a joy to get to see the beautiful sunrise off of the deck and then walk 1 minute up to the beach itself. Saw horses every time we went out and even some from the deck itself. It was very generous of him to have a 5 gallon water dispenser so we didn't have to bring/buy our own and lots of kitchen stuff (pots, pans, dishes, grill). The only negative aspects was the showers and toilets. I am not sure if there was a lot of air in the line or if all beach houses have this issue, but we could never get the same water pressure in each of the showers (some did great, others were moderate) and had trouble getting the stopper to pull up fully to switch from faucet to shower head except in the main bathroom. The toilets would randomly make running water sounds which was strange but honestly we got used to it after the first few days. Having strange water issues wouldn't stop us from going there again because the house was so beautiful on inside with the giant windows looking out towards the beach. Be forewarned, it is a 20-30 minute drive to get the 7 miles down the beach to the access but you almost need to be that far up the beach if you want the private beach aspects. Loved the place and would definitely go back!!

Five stars. House is perfect for our family. Great location! We saw horses almost every day. Communication with owner & house management is excellent. Friendly! Even though we were evacuated due to hurricane Dorian, they made us feel welcome and comfortable. We already booked for 2020. Thank you!!!!

We enjoyed our stay

We had a wonderful stay at Out of the Blue! The location was perfect to get back and forth to the beach and we had wild horses at the house a few times a day, which was so cool! Steve was so easy to deal with and responded to my questions quickly. Realize that this property is in a remote area. You need to drive a good 30 min to get on and off the beach. This is fine if you plan ahead of time. I had a second vehicle that we brought and was not 4wd for beach access. After 2 days of trying to figure out where to leave it, we spoke to a few store owners at the Timbuck II shopping center and were able to leave it there. Just note they mentioned signs were going up soon for no overnight parking, so look into this before your trip if you're in the same position.
