Recurring stay at this no nonsense accommodation in central Calais. Quirky rooms, individual designs. Owner is converting it into apartments so sadly, only a few years left to stay here.
Parking on the street is free and safe or you can park securely for a few euros.
Wife and I love this place and have been visiting here 20 years regularly.

So lovely to stay in the property. Benoit was very kind and welcoming. Helpful introduction and information on the local area. Obviously, work is being done on the property but this caused no inconvenience. Loved the simplicity in the design, super comfortable beds and great location.

Wonderful location next to a park. Easy access to everything. Benoit was wonderful and patient with us. Our response to his requests went to Expedias "no reply" email. 😳

Great location in center of town, walkable to key areas and train station. Owner was helpful and readily available.

I don't think this place should be called a hotel. The "lobby" is a bare hallway, there are no staff, even though the reviews mention them, the whole building is being renovated and halls, stairs etc. are wooden and noisy. We thought we had booked a balcony room but didn't get one. There is a hand held shower only over the bath and apologetic notices everywhere about the work. Large bed, comfortable and clean. A very basic, very central stay with free parking outside, very close to restaurants and art museum. If your priority is a bargain then you will be happy. We were glad only one other couple seemed to be staying. Stiff climb to out 3rd floor room so not for everyone.

I didn't actually stay at the hotel. I booked 2 weeks in advance and the day before I was due to travel I was sent a text informing me that they would be closed on the night of my stay and that I should book somewhere else.

Really convenient for the shuttle and easy to find. Friendly welcome and good restaurant recommendation. Central location with good choice and range of restaurants. Easy walk to the beach. Plus balcony overlooking park.

Clean, comfortable, great location. Simple room but perfect for a short stay. Friendly, helpful owner.Be aware that the building is being renovated so the initial appearance might be off-putting. Don’t worry, though. It doesn’t detract from the stay.

Charming, character-full little hotel, under restoration by the owner. Spotlessly clean room, very good value, excellent location in the heart of Calais. Secure parking for a small extra fee. Just across the road from a pretty public park.

The hotel is being refurbished by the owner who was very nice. We will stay again no problem.

Upgraded to self contained apartment at no extra cost. Superb!!. Hotel undergoing renovation but still spotless and staff could not have been friendlier.. so convenient for ferries and town (5min walk) with whole host of restaurants. Free parking right opposite hotel. Definitely recommended and will stay there next time in Calais.Didnt have breakfast so can’t comment.

Friendly welcome from Benoît, who is engaged in the long term project of singlehandedly upgrading the entire hotel. My room was certainly lovely, with a magnificent bath and a very comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. Good wifi, and power points where you need them! Nice location opposite the Parc Richelieu and easy parking. Everything within easy walking distance. Excellent value.

Across the canal from the city centre it is on a quiet street and looks over the Richelieu park. Still being renovated. Good value.

A lovely park opposite to sit and walk around. Walk only 5 minutes to a high street and harbour. Arts Museum virtually next door. Room with balcony overlooking park, tastefully decorated and large shower.

Small hotel run by Benoit on his own. Refurbishment work ongoing but this only affects the looks of the corridors. Rooms were fine and no noise problems at all. Would happily use again next time I need an overnight in Calais

Great room..hotel being renovated so a building site inside. Curtains would have been nice. No real signage outside. Al,a bit strange but the room was fantastic old world French . Roll top bath. Overall great value for £40

Ideal location. Benoit is polite and friendly. The rooms are large , clean and comfortable. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment, but is still goods to stay at.

We have stayed at Hotel Richelieu several times it is in a great location for restaurants and bars whilst staying in Calais and it's very near to the ferry port and the tunnel. The owner is renovating the hotel himself and each time we visit it is lovely to see the progress he is making it is, however, work in progress but it's great value for an overnight stay.

The stay was very comfortable. We had a travel disruption due to a ferry strike, and the hotel manager has been extremely helpful in guiding us to sort out new travel arrangements.

Stayed overnight before getting the shuttle back to UK. This is a regular trip and we have stayed in most of the chain hotels in Calais and the surrounding area. This was the first time in the hotel and we were satisfied with the experience. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and it is clear that work on the landings and corridors was in progress. They were however clean and tidy. Our room was warm, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Large bathroom with bath. There was a kettle,cups and some tea and coffee, no milk. Free wi-fi available in the room. Many English channels on the TV.Dining room, for breakfast, was pleasant and breakfast (continental) was plentiful and good quality. Some secure parking available. If you are concerned about leaving cars with valuable cargo parked on the street book the secure parking well in advance.

The hotel was being refurbished in part but the location was fantastic, there was secure parking to the rear, the staff were incredible helpful and the hotel was charming although a bit shabby around the edges which we liked.

This hotel has a huge benefit for motorcyclists - secured off-street parking! The hotel has a uniquely fitted claw foot bathtub. The location is in close proximity to all that Calais has to offer. It is just a few steps to food, drink and fun.
The hotel is in a state of renovation... this did not bother us as it has a lot of old character. If you are looking for polished, you might want to go elsewhere. We will be back for another stay.

Very helpful owner, who speaks good English. Lovely breakfast. Although the hotel is being renovated it is comfortable and has everything you need for a few nights stay. I would recommend it to friends without reservation. Parking right next to the hotel at a small charge can be arranged with the owner.
