Haka house is a very easy choice for financial savings with clean bedding. On the flip side, there is no monitoring of how the kitchen area is maintained during/after use.
It’s obvious that the “children” are not monitored to be sure they clean up after themselves. I would expect an hostel to have some type of policy in place during busy kitchen hours. Every kitchen use required avoiding someone’s mess that was left behind.

Overall it was a good night stay. Although we had the view as the room was in front, the noise of others can be heard like footsteps and even the smell of people smoking is coming inside the room.

Good location close to the main part of town. The water pressure was really poor and the heaters in our room and bathroom were also really poor. The shared areas were nice and the fireplace in both were great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall probably pretty good for a hostel but still could be better.

We had a self contained unit with bathroom and kitchenette. It was clean, had everything we needed, was close to everything, and everyone was really friendly. The bathroom was tiny and the decor was a little tired but it was clean and the beds were really comfortable. In short, it is fantastic, value for money accommodation

We know that this is a hostel but at least there should be a time for other guests to minimize noises. We stayed at an ensuite private room no. 3, next room no. 4 who were so noisy, at 11:45pm I couldn't help myself but knocked on their wall to signal that they were so noisy. Even just a notice on each room's wall no minimize the noise from 11pm, other guests need to rest and sleep. Thanks.

Stayed in a 3-bed dorm. Room had an ensuite. Was clean and customer service at the front desk was friendly. Good location, only a few minutes away from the lakefront. Fair number of free parking spots at the property and surrounding area.

We stayed for 3 nights (not in a row) in the ensuite unit .We were looking for budget accomodations at Wanaka. Unit was pretty small and basic, but sufficient for a couple. It had good shower. Communal kitchen was clean and managed. However, in the last stay sheets were not clean. Noise could be heard from the corridor if that might an issue. Overall we had a nice stay, and would recommend it as budget accomodation.

Has everything you need for a nights stay- good facilities and plenty to keep you occupied. We stayed in a private room with shared kitchen/bathroom facilities. The only downside was the bathroom was abit dated and the shower leaked a lot! Also the hooked lock on the door allowed it to open slightly for others to see in but apart from that everything else was great and would stay again.

Good quick stay. I had a private room and it was perfect for the night. I was glad there was a bathroom in the room and I didn't have to go out into a cold hallway. I'd recommend the place.

It was across from the lake and conveniently located next to the grocery as well as many food options.

Nice hostel, very well located to appreciate the stunning Lake Wanaka. Facilities were good and rooms clean. Slight issue with availability of hot water on one evening given numbers staying in hostel...
Overall very pleasant stay.
