A reasonable hotel in a complex that is safe and would be attractive for those seeking nighttime gambling pleasures. Found safe not to be working. Staff not as responsive as I would have liked.

Efficient and orderly

A perfect venue for a few days to have people visit and enjoy meals out. Great selection of bars and restaurants and very safe. Will be my default for future trips.

Closely situated to the Monte Casino

We lodged at the hotel for 3 nights and had a great stay. The location was excellent with the Montecasino complex right next to the hotel which had excellent dining options and the Fourways mall a short drive away as well. The breakfast was also tasty and the selections were good.

Stayed previously at this hotel when it was called Southern Sun in 2009. Nothing much has changed and it could probably benefit from a refresh in places. Biggest down side is that you can no longer use the pool at the sister 4 star hotel nearby. A massive negative for me which means will not use this hotel again.

Great place, location close to testaurants

The hotel is celan and located in a good and safe area. The only very strange thing is I arrived a bit after midnight and I had to go buy soft drinks in a casino because in the hotel there was nothing available. No mini bar, the hotel nar was closed, no room service...

Rooms are very small and they were working on the hot water system therefore we did not have hot water, this was not mentioned in the website when we booked.

I stayed only for one night at this hotel and I was impressed with he cleanliness of the room and facilities. The hotel has a lot dinning options. Would certainly want to stay at this hotel again.

The bathroom, or lack of it , a big let down . Also only 1 small bar of soap provided for the weekend stay for 2 adults .

Comfortable, within safe walking distance (about 2 minutes across the square) to Montecasino where there is a wide choice of restaurants. A lovely view of an "italian piazzo", feels like you're in Italy.

Excellent guest service. You have many dining options around you. It is the nicest place in Johannesburg

Would recommend Sunsquare to any traveler. On the expensive side for a 3 star establishment. Breakfast area is over-crowded and not a lot of space. Rest up to standard

Booked Sunsquare Montecasino but was moved to Tsogo Sun Montecasino. Very disappointed, but everything at new hotel was adequate.

We had been at the 8-10pm show so couldn't order anything before the 10pm close.Vending machines with sandwiches and snacks could be made available (not just crisps and chocolate), or snack platters could be preordered and sent to rooms for an additional fee. The latter would be excellent.

Very kind staff. Very serviceable. Nice hotel y classic style, in good shape though not new anymore. Only to mention that there is too much noise in the entrance of the room (from water tubing or ventilation?). Also the windows don’t close hermetically although with good weather outside this is not an issue. The shower is fixed on the wall, I prefer a tube with shower head. The hotel is well prepared with covid measures. The restaurant with garden terrace is beautiful! Many restaurants and shops at the colliding Monte Casino. Thanks a lot for the nice stay!

There wasn't any stay because the hotel is or was closed and the manager tells me after that the security was supposed to tell us to go to another hotel, instead all they said we got scammed...which truthfully hotels.com and this hotel scammed me out of $208, I will never use this hotel or book on hotels.com ever again....total trash.
