The drive onto property at 5pm, not recommended! Certainly not the fault of Terlingua Ranch, head out the window along the horrific 3.5 mile bumpy, shake riad in an economy vehicle not for the faint of heart. Once checked in by the awesome staff, so welcoming, such a pleasure. The room was great. The beds, and the pillows!!!! Omg🤗 where do we buy these!!! Everything so worth the ride out of town, stargazing unmatched! Thank you so very much, for sharing your hospitality and serene experience, we’re thankful. Our highest recommendation.

I knew it was out of town but the dirt road was not made clear at the time of booking.

Amazing location - both very long to get to - and wonderful to be so ‘far out ‘ at the same time. I’m not sure we would have done it if we know how long it would take to get to this ranch, and at the same time we were glad to discover it. Absolutely loved the dark sky experience - seeing the stars like when we were kids! The staff was wonderful! A unique experience! Would suggest staying at least two nights - we only stayed one. But we both thought it would be worthwhile to stay longer. We got more of a sense (how ever small) of the people who chose to live in this area. A diverse and unique collection of individuals.

First trip to Big Bend National Park, lodging within the park wasn't available so we found this lodge online. It is about 16 miles off the main road and last few miles are on a rocky bumpy gravel/dirt road. Room and beds were comfortable and clean. Loved the porch area with chairs, a small table to set drinks on would have been nice. The view of the night sky and stars was amazing. Onsite cafe was good with inside and outside seating. Pool area looked well maintained and clean.

If you're after seclusion, peace & quiet and a fabulous view THIS is the place you want! Be prepared for a long drive to ANYWHERE, tho. The desk lady was really nice. We weren't impressed with the the Bad Rabbit Cafe, however. Limited menu, not really much flavor and had to order our drinks twice.

Our front desk lady was very kind and helpful.

You might want to mention that it is 36 miles from Terlingua. I thought the cabins were in the area not as remote as it was.
Too long driving back and forth and not to mention the remote road you have to drive on.

Nice Stay

The views of the mountains were spectacular! The staff in the cafe were the most friendliest people I've ever met. The front desk staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The pool was cold, but our son still enjoyed swimming while I relaxed and took in the views! My husband spent his time searching the mountain near our room for deer and other wild life. We saw 3 Mule Deer does, a snake, a skunk, and a lizzard! The drive down the road its on has fun art at other peoples driveways, which makes the 16 miles go by easier. Overall, we enjoyed our one night stay, and would stay again!

Enjoyed our stay. Staff were helpful and excellent. It was quiet and definitely remote. Pool was nice for the heat of the day.

The toilet was not clean. I had to clean the toilet myself.

I really liked the location of this property even though it was a little far to drive. It was like being at summer camp.

Was not told at booking there was an additional pet fee of $75, which I assumed was paid when I requested pet friendly. Cabins are old and everything geared to someone 5' (we're average of 5'7). Lodge is too difficult to get to which they don't tell you until AFTER booking. Cafe on premises is way too expensive (chicken fried steak and BLT was $57 with no alcohol!).

Everything was nice and clean and cool after a long day at Big Bend. We walked over to the pool and my kids had a great time swimming. Loved this place! Cute little cabins 💜

Room restroom tub needs repairs. Too many flying insects enter the rooms by a “locked window”. Unpaved road to lodge too long and not convenient for low clearance vehicles.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lodge, We had a spacious cabin w 2 beds, very comfortable, great water pressure, and the water gets HOT! We enjoyed sitting out on the porch to stargaze in the evenings, and time by the pool to cool off when we got back from being out all day. Had 2 good meals at the Bad Rabbit Cafe. Office has items if you forget things, like a toothbrush, soap, etc for small fee. Cabins are well spaced, there was no issue with noise at night, slept great! Saw lots of jackrabbit. Would stay here again!

Off road, possibility flat tire, dust,
Many bugs, bad small, no facilities ,
Not working WIFI..
Location is near bigbend but road is too far.
If you are finding hotel for Bigbend, I recommend reserve other hotels.

Its greatest strength — remoteness — is its only weakness! Staff is friendly and helpful … food at the Bad Rabbit was quite good … the view of sunsets, distant mountains, and night skies from our front porch was stunningly beautiful … if you want to get away from the urban rat-race, this is a great adventure!

It is an amazing place. The dark sky with the stars is wonderful.
Very friendly staff.

This was our second stay in three years. There appears no maintenance is being done to keep up the property. Rooms definitely need updated. Restaurant was closed the week we stayed. There is limited places to eat in the closest town/community. Fortunately I brought sandwich makings, fruit and muffins with me for the time we would be in the park. I was traveling with my spouse and two young grandchildren. Having those things became a blessing to have with me. I WAS NOT INFORMED of restaurant closure in advance. Upon check in we were told of the closure. I don’t believe we will return to the area again but if so we won’t stay at this location.

The website said close to Big Bend. It was a 45 minute drive to the park. The road to the lodge is five miles of dusty, bumpy gravel. There is no TV in the rooms. I did not know this. Beds were not comfortable. On the positive side, it was clean.

This lodge is down a 16 mile road off of Hwy 118, about an hour drive to Big Bend National Park. It is cabins, RV spots and tent camping with a restaurant and pool. The staff are very friendly and the place is clean and well kept. It’s a great place for families, groups, and single/couples wanting a quiet, out of the way experience.

Honestly wish we could have spent more time here. We arrived after dark and pulled up to the office which was closed. Since there had been no email or phone call regarding late check ins, I knew there would be a way to get into our room! Tucked into a mailbox were envelopes labeled with each guest’s name and a key. We followed the map to our cabin and were delighted to discover it was very clean and cozy. Since WiFi is limited to the close proximity of the office, we wandered back down there and were able to let our families at home know that we had arrived but would be unavailable since we would not have service all night. We promptly went to bed, got up early and headed out before sunrise. We were sad to never actually see the surroundings of our cabin and hope to be back! The only suggestion I would make is to add a very conspicuous note on the map to the various cabins that it is not to scale AT ALL. Since it is a dark sky area, roads are difficult to see and we had some trouble finding our cabin. Since we were all women in our group, that was a little nerve wracking.

Driving is much farer from big bend park than I read the description. All other is fair enough.

40 min to Big Bend gate. Reasonable price comparing to Study Butte. Good cafe with live music.
All meals available.

The Ranch is a unique resort about 45 miles from Big Bend. As advertised, there are no TV, coffee pot, microwave and only a small frig. Rooms are rustic comfortable. Restaurant food is excellent but because of staffing, isn't always open and schedule may change on short notice. Nearest food is in Terlingua 30 miles away.. Call ahead to confirm. Pool is available. It is a dark sky program so is great for viewing stars. Need good tires because of the last 3 miles of dirt road. A good place to get away.

The Terlingua Lodge is NOT in Terlingua but 37 miles away at the end of a country road in the middle of nowhere with no faculties around. Their restaurant is closed Sundays and Mondays. And it is not a lodge but a bunch of cabins.

Comfy bed!

Very basic lodging, not convenient to Terlingua or Big Bend. Restaurant was closed when we were there and food options very limited. Long drive to Terlingua. Would not stay again.

Bedroom was comfortable, with cute, rustic furniture. Bathroom was in rough condition with a tub that had been painted and was peeling, and faucets that were loose and squeaky, but at least they did not leak.
Only ate once at Bad Rabbit Cafe. Pancakes seemed to be made from cake batter, and service was inefficient.
Location is reasonably convenient to Big Bend National Park.
