Room was excellent very clean and everything you need. Arrived late 11pm and met by friendly team great welcome. Breakfast was not the best and let the stay down overall. The smashed avocado on toast was like a thin spread on the toast. The streaky bacon was very fatty and should’ve been much crispier. The best part of breakfast was the scrambled egg which was really good.

Beautiful accommodation and surrounding area however we did not sleep a wink the one night we stayed. We had an early start due to travelling down to visit a family member in hospital. We felt misled due to where the rooms were situated (directly in front of the beer garden) This was occupied even after the garden ‘closed’ predominately by staff members who had clocked off but were incredibly loud and smoking right outside of our window. At breakfast we had to keep asking for someone to come outside and take our order, my partner and I felt judged and as if we were not welcome. I would make clear to anyone booking that this site is not LGBTQ friendly and to be mindful that the rooms are directly adjacent to the beer garden. We were disturbed up until around 2 am. I expressed my grievances in a polite and friendly manner, however the staff were dismissive and did not take our concerns seriously. I would not stay again and wish for someone to reach out regarding this as I made a complaint, to which no one has contacted me about.

Our whole stay was marred by the total lack of privacy for the en suite facilities. It had an extremely ill-fitting sliding glass door which meant you were forced to see hear and yes I am afraid smell everything that your partner was doing. About the most unromantic experience I can think of. Basically for the level of privacy the toilet might as well have been next to the bed. The door performed none of the functions normally associated with a door.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The beds were very comfy and we had a wonderful stay.

Lovely room but restaurant service is slow. Lots of time when there was no one in the restaurant. At breakfast we sat down on our own accord as there was no one around,after what seemed like a long time, I got us the menus and eventually someone came to take the order. They need more staff and better trained staff.

Extremely well appointed bedroom and bathroom , very very comfortable. Friendly helpful check in and check out and an a la carte breakfast . Way above what i expected and excellent value for money.

This hotel was a hidden gem , fantastic food and service lovely rooms.

We stayed for one night to break up a long journey. This is an absolutely fabulous hotel, couldn't believe how good it was when we arrived. Extremely good value for money, we stayed B&B. Room was beautiful and very well equipped and the breakfast very good. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was first class, with a good choice of courses. Service exceptional. Would definitely recommend.

This was such a stunning property. The room, bar, resturant were all so lovely. Especially so close to Christmas with all the Christmas trees! Tea and coffee in the room, a free bit of gin too. The staff in the resturant were beyond lovely and the food was Devine. As was the breakfast that was included. Stunning. I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. I won’t lie, I was slightly kept awake by the people in the room above walking around until the late hours of the night and I could hear them talking however everything else was so perfect so I can’t complain. Oh and the parking was free and easy!! Plenty of spaces. 10/10 recommend and can’t wait to return.

I am delighted to give the highest possible review to Hare & Hounds. Before we arrived, we received an email asking us questions in order to give us personalized service. Our room was small but cozy, and well-equipped. The food was also very high-quality.

Having previously lived in Newbury I already knew of the Hare and hounds reputation. The whole weekend was a pleasure, with the the staff being helpful and the meals were excellent.

The hotel has been recently renovated and is clean, new and comfortable. The dining room prepares their own food and is on the whole very good. The wait staff and assistant manager were very professional and service oriented. We had a negative experience with the owner or overall manager, Mr. Joshi. We booked thru Expedia. When our Blue Badge guide attempted to be helpful and drop off our bags in advance of our evening arrival, Mr. Joshi was at the front desk and refused to accept the bags. He said we had booked on Expedia and he had had no credit card information on us so he could not accept our bags. Our guide reached out and said Mr. Joshi refused to talk with us, and had walked away from him. A confirmation email we received stated we could leave our bags if we arrived before regular check in time. Fortunately, our guide was service oriented and went above and beyond to take care of our bags. He drove back to Highclere Castle, worked out for our bags to be locked away by the gate guard, and contacted our taxi driver scheduled to pick us up. It was unfortunate as Mr. Joshi marred an otherwise pleasant expereince presumably because we booked thru Expedia!

Bedrooms are great. The thing that lets the hotel down is the poor service in the restaurant. Was sat down with a menu, no drink order taken and then left on my own. I had to go into the kitchen to ask if there was any staff around to take my order after nearly 15mins. Ordered a starter and a main. Sat for nearly half an hour and then my main turned up without my starter being served. Had to wait again for my starter to come. On top of that,the restaurant is cold and draughty to sit in.

Super cute hotel. We stayed in the stables and the rooms were adorable. Excellent restaurant with very attentive staff.

Such a quaint, beautiful inn. We stayed in the "Hoof" room and although small, it met all our needs. Extremely clean and very welcoming. The staff was suburb. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and the food was above our expectations.
