Dog-friendly room with sliding glass door leading right outside to grassy area behind hotel. It makes dog walking easier. Free breakfast was decent.

Room smelled awful, chunky stain of unknown pink substance on the one arm chair in room. Toilet handle broken, sink didn’t drain (may have been source of foul smell). Dirty bandaid on floor of bathroom and someone’s used press-on nails under bedside table.

Ample parking, the check in was smooth, and it was easy to find our room, but once we got in, we were hit in the face with what smelled like very stale cigarettes attempted to be covered by Febreze or something. It looked like it hasn't been updated since the 70s, the beds were springy and firm, the shower pressure was mid, and the rust stains on the sink looked like a poop smear. We also saw ants in the bathroom, and you had to hold the toilet handle down for 15 seconds to flush. The light switches were like old kitchen timers, and not all of them worked. Walls are not sound proof, so we awoke to the dulcet tones of a family cursing at their toddler to put his f***** shoes on at 6am. Continental breakfast was bare minimum expectation, and the boxed milk was sour. Grabbed a banana to-go just to get out of there.

The ceiling had some mold

Shower pressure was low. Pre-billing my debit card for an extra two days that weren't requested was very confusing and front desk wasn't sure what happened and couldn't explain it to me. Only to say it would work out after a few days. Which it did..but was a big inconvenience to me. So some of my money was tied up in a pending area needlessly.

I had a lovely stay at Howard Johnson's last night. The check-in process was quick and easy. The room was large and well furnished. My bed was humongous and comfortable, everything was very clean, and breakfast was adequate. Some parts of the hotel could use a bit of an update (carpeting, bathrooms, etc.) It's still in good condition, perfectly livable. Super bright white bed linens and towels made a positive impression. I found the iron and the hair dryer very useful. My favorite part however was the location. Howard Johnson is located very close to downtown Amherst, UMass, and shopping. Lots of popular stores, such as Marshalls, Staples, Target, Michaels, Dick's, etc. are a minute away. Among them are all the grocery places, fast food places, and other conveniences. Although the hotel is close to the main road, it was quiet, peaceful, and very restful. I enjoyed my stay very much. Thank you!

carpet worn thin, splices wires not in a junction box at the heater, lamp switch would not turn off or on- to operate the lamp one had to pug the cord in, to turn it off one had to unplug it.

Dirty sheets. Stained. This place is dated and should be torn down and rebuilt. It's cheap, but if you pay for a dump, that's what you will get.

It was very nice! Jasmine, our concierge, was extraordinarily helpful!

The refrigerator and microwave i liked..bathroom floor could use a mopping other wise everything was clean..

Really gross old hotel

It’s pretty grimy. But for the price you should know that going in. The room was fine. Everything was FINE

Not great but good size room

The carpets throughout the hotel and in our room appeared to be filthy. Our bathtub was discolored (yellow) and had chipped paint; it was basically unusable.

The property is run down. It was clean and beds were comfy, but our toilet wouldn’t flush at all. No plugs/charging units next to bed. Parking lot has potholes and can’t see where parking spaces are out front. I just thought someone randomly parked in the middle of the roadway.

Person who checked me in was very friendly and courteous. Check-in was smooth and quick. Room is clean and quiet.

Rooms are in good shape and the staff is friendly. The only issue with my room was a couple of ceiling tiles had obvious water stains (I was on the top floor).

Everything is good just

Room smelled like smoke, the door didn't close and we had to SLAM it to get it to close. Coffee machine spit the coffee across the room, coffee packets were ripped inside and unusable, tub was chipped, balcony was filthy, phone message light blinked all night and front desk couldn't fix, no wifi provided, water in shower didn't stay hot. what a horror. I've requested a full refund.

old motel, but well kept up. No grab bars for shower. How could you get away with this in Mass? Had suite, clean and comfortable.

Fine no-frills budget motel. Comfortable bed and spacious room. Could use some fresh paint and decor but everything was as advertised.

A decent value. When we arrived there was a dehumidifier running in the bathroom and the toilet was running for hours before stopping on its own. The room was appointed nicely and the bed was comfortable. The staff was welcoming and polite. It’s a three star facility at a three star price.

Friendly staff

coin operated laundry but no coin machine or even an atm.

I get that they may have been understaffed for Christmas but in the week we stayed there not once did they come to clean the room or give us new towels or toilet paper, we had to go to the desk and ask for it. We did not leave a tip.

Great please except the dripping shower was an annoyance at night. We advised on check out and she just said oh OK sorry
