Good for a night stay close to airport

We were able to get a rollaway bed which made sleeping better. The staff also let us borrow a floor fan. Thanks for the help! Everyone was courteous and kind!

Perfect start for an Alaska fishing adventure

Front Desk was very helpful. Even one lady helped me in suggesting the place I can see Bear and indeed, ditto! , next day we saw not 1 but 3 Bears.

Mice in the room

This property was about one-half mile from the airport, which was an important factor when we had to WALK to the airport after our scheduled 3:30 am airport shuttle had not arrived by 3:45 am. Luckily, we were capable of walking that one-half mile with our luggage and we had the company of 6 other travelers who also had booked the shuttle.

What a relief with all of our baggage to be able to have a room before 3 p.m. We then took a taxi to the tram and dog sledding areas.

Property was dated, carpet in halls was worn and dirty, rooms had old worn furnishings, bathroom sink was damaged and patched, linoleum was old and faded, caulking around tub and sink was ill applied. Lobby old, rundown appearing. Only positive was airport shuttle and walk in freezer for game/fish for sportsmen, and proximity to airport.

So maybe I’m just too used to hotels that help address concerns. First, I communicated that after our first stay I had left a pillow and a large water pic. I got the pillow but apparently staff tossed the pic. Ok my bad to leave it. Second on our next stop after a 5 day trip to Gustavus I emailed ahead asking for a quiet room on 4th floor. Instead they gave us 413 which was above 313 that we stayed last time - this is an ADA room next to elevator. Literally. So both times I got to use AirPods to drown out the chimes of the lodge elevator. I asked upon check in could she not do the ADA room again and her response was she got me on 4th floor and no there was no moving even with my request that say. They were fully booked. This hotel didn’t smell as poorly as our first stay do that was a positive. Very convenient to airport I’ll give them that.

The first fail was finding out that even though the restaurant is still advertised as part of the property, it has been closed a long time. We were look9ng firward to it being open because of prwvious memories there. Second was finding a used washcloth and towel in the room, the towel still there on the open closet shelf after room service the next day. Third was very hard beds. Finally, we somehow ended up with an Accessibility room through a mistake made on Hotels.com (shower head at the 4 foot level). The first morning we went to the desk about it (which is when we found out it was a Hotels.com issues) and they said they were full but would look for no shows later, which was fine. We returned at noon at which point they said they could not give us a different room because we booked through a third party. The second morning we checked out with three unrefundable days left because we did not like it there.

Overall just an okay stay. Wifi was so poor I ended up turning it off in favour of using data. Room appeared as though nothing had been uodated in 20+ years. Bed was hard and pillows were soft and didn't offer much for neck support. Had an odd musty smell to it.

Worst shower head ever.

We were given a ADA room near elevators— but the real issue was neighbors on top of our 3rd floor room. The floors almost shake when they walked around at all hours. Just one of those things. It wasn’t constant but surprisingly early in am. Lots of clicks and clunks. As you walk lobby there is a smell of old hotel in need of fresh cleaning. Otherwise beds were adequate and check in was ok. Valley Restaurant near by was very good!!

Great service at reception & on airport shuttle. Clean bathroom w/plenty of hot water in shower. Happy that could open window for fresh air. Would have liked an extra blanket for bed.

The staff is very kind. The Shuttle is not wheelchair accessible.The Hotel is close to the airport which for me was very convenient. It could have a variety of frozen food that could be bought and warmed up in the microwave.All in all acceptable.
