$18 daily for parking, for hotel guests it was a bad surprise. It was loud and noise after 10 pm. We love the location and view of this particular hotel

We have been going there for the last seven years and when i booked my stay through expedia there was no mention about paying for parking untill i was checking in,thats bad business in my book and a rip off, i would have stayed at the carlsbad inn across the street with no charge for parking, They just lost a good customer.

This is an older hotel that is being taken care of very well. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. It's right across the street from Carlsbad State Beach and the breakfast room overlooks that. The ladies overseeing the complementary hot breakfast did an excellent job. We had an emergency next day delivery by UPS on Saturday morning and the front desk clerk called us as soon as it came in. It's refreshing when things happen just the way they should and believe me (I travel a lot) that doesn't always happen. Everybody was polite and helpful. Be advised that there is limited parking and they charge $18/night for on property parking. That said we parked on the side street within eyesight of our car for free. Near the beach these side streets fill up during the day but at night there wasn't any problem finding a spot. Right across the street was a little lunch spot called Harbor Beach Cafe with good clam chowder and Shrimp Louis Salad (best quality shrimp and dressing we encountered on our trip). A little pricy but remember all that maintenance and cleanliness isn't free. Lots of families with small children stayed there. This village is within walking distance .

The rooms need some updating. Bathroom is super snug and needs to be maintained. Location is excellent. The beach is across the street and plenty of places to eat and all walkable.

Rooms need an update.Carpets were threadbare and bath tube grungy. Staff was outstanding.

Location is great. Friendly and accommodating staff. Older property that is small and rather outdated but clean and maintained. Loud guests, door slamming and crying kids at the pool were my biggest complaints and apparently impossible to avoid. Recommend upper floors as far away from pool as possible.

The staff was so friendly and there was an inviting firepit and beautiful ocean view!

Location the the beach was excellent

We chose this hotel on hotel.com for its reviews and location. We booked two rooms and were given 55&54. Our room 55 faced the street. And a tree blocked the ocean view but we didn’t pay for ocean view so I was ok with that. The problem was the other room we booked was double the size and had a nice sink area and bathroom. It is obvious this hotel was an old apartment building and I’m not sure why the one room was so much smaller. The bathroom was dated and if we were staying longer than one night I would have been very disappointed. The positives now…The location of this hotel is AMAZING. Right across from the State beach. And the upstairs patio was perfect for beach view and people watching. Breakfast was basic but lots of options. Overall enjoyed our stay.

Older hotel. Rating on Hotels.com is higher than it should be. Positives: close to the beach, good parking, comfortable bed and pillows, helpful and friendly staff, walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Negatives: small tear in carpet, spots on the carpet, fabric on arm chair dirty, little bit noisy from traffic outside, slight odor.

Our family had an amazing summer getaway. We enjoyed the pool onsite, breakfast, fire pit, laundry service, beach views and beach access. Restaurants are at a walking distance that we didn’t move our car once. The staff was amazing and friendly. The site was a secured located and felt safe at all times. We look forward to booking next time.

Love how convenient it is to the beach and all the shops. Perfect spot. Rooms are just a bit dated I think.

Older property which needs updating. Bathroom fixtures, room color & decor very dated. Wall A/C terribly noisy. View was beautiful from breakfast room and deck. Staff was good.

Good breakfast, nice little gym! We borrowed beach chairs, umbrella and towels. Close to everything.

Great location, literally walk across the street to the beach. Staff was excellent. Definitely staying here again.

We love staying there and do so at least 3 times a year. It is a perfect place to stay. We were not happy about the new added parking fee. That part really stunk.

Everything was excellent except as in every Best Western the plastic breakfast. Always take my Cup and cutlery with me to avoid plastic trash, but for jam etc. you can't avoid. Scramble eggs don't taste like out of fresh eggs
