The stay was overall a very good experience. The hotel has an charming German style, it is not new but in good condition. The breakfast buffet was of intercontinental standard with a German touch. Dinner was also a buffet, but in a mid range quality, matching the price. The guests were a the for our visit mostly retired and a few families with kids.

nice hotel, nice staff - nice a la carte resturante and nice breakfast
BUT, a huge disappointment to visit the evening restaurant with buffet - direct bad food - salad there is rotten, not human food
Overcooked meat, and generally poor standard - can not be recommended = waste of money
Visit this lovely hotel, which is nicely located - visit the lovely a la carte resturan at hotels and you will have a wonderful holiday

Maritim Berglage Hotel is beautifully situated under Wurmberg, Harzens second highest point. You can tell it is an aged hotel by style, but well maintained. It is a larger hotel with a busy atmosphere. Service at the reception was friendly and they have good options for safely keeping bikes. However, I would point out opportunities for improvement. Cleaning was not up to standard. Even on request, standard was not corrected. Morning buffet did not meet our expectations to a COVID-19 set up. Disinfection was available and gloves, but barely no one used them and none from the staff was monitoring or correcting. Cutlery was taken from a shared box, that most people used with bare hands. We stopped using the buffet and will recommend the local bakery in Braunlage town which has a nice terrace.

A great family room with a view of the mountains. We would definitely stay here again. One thing we regretted was that we did not know about the indoor pool as it was not clear on the facilities list of our booking. Had we known this we would have packed swimwear to take advantage of this option at the hotel.

Super hotel, god service

A highrise in a National Park. Sweeping views of the valley. But my room was on the side, overlooking a overgrown tenniscourt. No views at all. Just schaffolding. Very dissapointing. Renovation work is carried out. So building noises from early in the morning. To reach the reception you have to make a d tour through desolate restaurant and two stairs due to the renovation. Why pay for parking if there is so much space available? Why do you call this brownisch drap in the morning coffee? Why isn’t there a stable and fast internet?

it was amazing to see nice forest view and qutie comfort to stay. Room was spacious and very quiet for us to sleep very well. The only thing pitiful was windy weather which was not allowing us to stay longer in the nice balcony.

Yes this is an old hotel, and yes we have to climb a little hill if we are not parking at the hotel garage and yet we keep coming back - love it !

Perched above Braunlage, this hotel manages to feel removed from any rush and bustle yet remains convenient as a centre for touring the Harz area. This was our second stay, just a weekend overnight, whereas last time we spent a week here. On both occasions, the hotel has lived up to our expectations.
The rooms are comfortable and quiet, the staff helpful and the catering is delicious (special mention for the buffet breakfast, possibly the largest spread I've ever encountered!). every day, a newsletter is provided giving some information about a nearby town, a weather forecast for the day, details of activities and special offers arranged by the hotel. The hotel itself includes a spa facility with an excellent (25m?) pool, sauna and fitness room, massage and beauty treatments are on hand, there's an archery range& pitch & putt golf course, pretty much enough for a long weekend without ever leaving the premises.
One of my personal favourites.

Well looked after by all staff. They even understood my schoolboy German. A local map was Given to us with all paths marked, we had 2 enjoyable walks. The indoor pool was fantastic, 20 metres long and only a handful of people in at any time. the food in the English Pub was well presented and more or less the same price as other places in town, although the main restaurant was a bit pricy. The bathroom decor was a bit seventies style, so hopefully will be updated in the next few years. I missed the free wifi that we had at other hotels we stayed in Germany on this holiday.

Per my previous post, the Maritime Braunlage was once again a brilliant place to stay. Just like last year, we have stayed in about ten hotels over three weeks - and the Maritime once again tops the charts for breakfast!

Went to the Maritim Braunlage for a weekend of skiing in the Harz Mountains. I've stayed in quite a few Maritim hotels, and this certainly isn't up there with the best, but it definitely wasn't the most expensive either.
The decor is pretty "retro" in the rooms, i.e. it's not been updated since the 70's (think of alovely brown bathroom...); however, pretty much all of Germany is 20 years behind the rest of the world anyway.
The staff were friendly, but beware that this isn't UK-focused tourism Germany, so if you're expecting fluent English from everyone, you'll be sadly disappointed.
The breakfast was very good, but a touch pricey. Likewise for dinner in the restaurant.
It looked to be the best hotel in Braunlage though and stands above the rest of the town, somewhat dominating the skyline.
I'd happily go back, but people shouldn't be expecting unbridled luxury.

Everything was perfect and we loved it.

We were very pleased in choosing this hotel to stay for a few days. It is a very nice quiet hotel, with plenty to do, the food was lovely and staff very helpful. It is situated up a steep hill which is a bit of a climb, but is well located and close to the ski lift and centre of town. With a selection of spa treatments it is the prefect place to relax for a few days.
