Amazing beach but property needs updating

staff super friendly, food was good (didn't get sick at all) the property was a little run down! or toilet was running and u had to push the handle up and sink was slow to drain. maids make ur bed everyday ours was so sweet leaving hearts and flowers and the beach was so warm and beautiful!!!n i didn't like the pressure of the people making you feel bad if you didnt do a tour with them.we did it because we felt bad for him and he was nice. they said 1 hour we were there 2.5 hours and they just pressure you to buy there.entetainment was awesome but vert late for adults. id go again

This hotel was basically the equivalent of a budget all inclusive. I would describe it as a Sizzler combined with a Motel 6. Also, they play super loud music at the pools a beaches - nothing relaxing about this hotel

Great friendly staff. Entertainment was phenomenal. Unstable internet outside of the main lobby area but understandable given the resort size.

I've been coming to this property for last 11years every year, sometimes multiple times a year. It has the most beautiful & widest beach in area & no sea weed issues. Has healthy, tasty, high quality food that is never disappointing. if you want heavy, junk food, you won't like it. Ground land scape is very lush & well kept making you feeling you're in a big park even while you're in the room. Staffs are always accommodating specially at the palace side. Over the years, there was a time they were playing music too loud throughout the day but they corrected it & it was appropriate amount this time at least at the palace side. Unfortunately they made me pay $50 for 2 hour late check our after this loyal patronage this February 😂 which was disappointing. but still will go back.

Not enough activities for preteens to do independently. Not enough wild life on property. Too many age restrictions (need to be 16 to use the gym, etc). Need more food variety at the buffet or more reservation days allowed. Otherwise, the best beach in the area

Loved it here. The hotel is huge, much bigger than we were expecting but never felt crowded even during a peak week. Lots of amenities and activities to keep the kids busy and a beautiful location. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit basic but very clean. The only real downside was the food in the buffet could be a bit bland. The food in the other restaurants and snack bars was much better. Highly recommended.

To preface this review, I have stayed at many all inclusive resorts including iberostars and secret resorts. If you are not Italian or Spanish, I would not recommend this resort. Personally, I will not be coming back or staying at any other Viva resort. To be fair, lets start with the pros of the resort: very nice beach and beautiful water activities like archery, kayaking, and paddle boarding included (with a time limit). the seafood restaurant and French restaurant were good. Now let’s discuss the cons: - wifi did not work in the room we were staying in and was very spotty throughout resort. - staff in green shirts will harass you and try to sell you things (timeshares, upgraded memberships) MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY. My husband and I were harassed every day of our trip, when we were trying to relax and have a good time. The green shirts even tried asking for our room number! - the food overall was not great. Definitely below average and some things were very gross and old-looking. Some people we came to the resort with got sick from the food. - the drinks are not strong and will not get you buzzed unless you drink straight liquor. And you do not want to know how those drink cups are washed… it’s not sanitary. - the shower water was sometimes not hot. - there were roaches on the property, but we were on a higher floor in the building so we thankfully didn’t get any in our room. - staff is rude / not helpful to English speakers.

Food buffets were excellent and we felt like there was variety each day. The pizzeria was an unexpected surprise, freshly baked in a hearth oven best I've had in years. Beaches and pools were enjoyable, especially the activities in the plaza, the infinity pool. Crepe bar was very good. Many activities all day. Friendly staff and guests. Weather was great. Family friendly. We used talixo from and to the airport. Would definitely return. This was our first all inclusive.

The staff were kind. The food was terrible and we felt very segregated because every excursion we were left out of most conversations because we were the only English speakers.

Everything was ok, except the water. Me my wife and my friends got a stomach problem. We used a bottle water for drink, but for ice and clean fruits and vegetables they use regular water. Food was excellent

The first day we wait until 4 pm to get the room the the a/c was bad and we pass the first night literally cooking our sell , the restaurat reaervation was limites to one because my reservation was just for 3 nights , in resumeit wasn'tmy best vacation

This is a very well-maintained property, with an extensive beach and many different restaurants, snack bars, and cocktail bars, as well as multiple swimming pools. The lady that cleaned our room every day, Yesenia R., did an excellent job and always left us with a beautiful bird constructed from towels and sheets, with flowers and greenery. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and kind, and they all work very, very hard. The little shopping area within the Palace compound had a wonderful coffee shop. It was also really cool to see all the birds, including a flock of flamingos, wandering around the property, as well as some iguanas. There are multiple specialty restaurants in both the Palace compound, and within Dominicus Beach (which guests at the Palace may use); my personal favorite was the Italian restaurant, Il Palco. 25 is also very good (for steak) and Viva Mexico had delicious fajitas. We had wonderful massages on the beach from the spa. While it was not a concern for my husband and me, or the friends with whom we travelled, the rooms do show some wear and tear, which I feel is to be expected. The spotless attention to detail by the cleaning crews made up for that small criticism. The compound was safe, with an obvious presence of security. The beds are very comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well, which was much appreciated, given the very high humidity at this time of year. This is a great place to take an all-inclusive beach vacation.

People. Facilities are old. But staff make the difference

The room was not ready when we arrived. The room looked old and the bathroom was terrible. The room floor was dirty. The drinks machine didn’t have drinks, when you pressed juice it brought water. The food was terrible and not a lot of options The staff didn’t look professional.

This hotel is located on a beautiful beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. Many dining options. Comfortable and clean room. Beautiful experience from start to finish. Will recommend staying at this hotel.

Check in experience was awful. We first tried checking in at Viva Dominicus Beach and were told we were in the wrong place. When we arrived at Dominicus Palace, we were told that our rooms weren't paid for and that we would need to pay for 4 rooms. We had two of our group that could not come and I was told that we could not have those rooms at the rate we were told it would be. Instead we would be charged the current rack rate. Then the clerk told us that half of our rooms were at the Palace and half were at the Beach. After more searching on the computer, we were told that all our rooms were actually at the Beach resort. I asked for assistance to get my group of 15 to the other site. Yes, we got assistance. The bell men loaded all our luggage on the carts and took us to the other resort at a fast pace. Several of my group were seniors and had a very difficult time keeping up. One in fact had such knee pain after this fast hike that the next day that one had to just rest. We were told to just relax at the bar while they sorted out our problems. My group encountered plastic in their drinks. The clerk appeared to not want to help me, the female leader. He was a little more willing to talk with a man in our group. I felt discrimination as a female. I was the one in charge of the group and he gave me little respect and wasn't wanting to talk to me as much as a man. I don't usually feel such disrespect, but I did that day.

Staff is very rude and ignore you, unless you speak Spanish.. they cater to the Europeans and it was pretty clear we weren’t wanted there. A male unlocked and entered our friends room, in the middle of the night. She was alone in this room. Not injured, but guest services didn’t take us serious. We were brushed off. An Expedia agent tried getting us checked out, but the guest services agent didn’t want to talk with Expedia, and told her she’d fix it and make it right. That never happened! We left. We paid for 1 night. It took the reception desk over 3 hours to even get us checked in. It was a total nightmare.. I’ve never experienced anything like this, ever. The grounds are beautiful.. but that’s about as far as it goes, for anything positive. The food was horrendous!! I never expect ‘amazing’ with all inclusive, but this wasn’t even edible. So many things to even describe.. if anyone has any questions, feel free to message me. I’m not hard to please, but this was not good!!

I liked the property, staff was really nice , not much of shows or entertainment!

My family of 4 just got back from this resort yesterday. There was much to like about this resort, and some important problems. I would not go back to this resort, but let me explain why. First the good. From our arrival at the front desk, the check-in process was easy. The staff was easy to communicate with, and got us checked in fast. They did not have a great information package, they just had a map (and it's an expansive resort). It would have been nice to get information about entertainment (shows) and other features of our stay right away so we could reference it. No such luck. We got to the room and were happy with what we found. The room was as described. I had upgraded to the ocean view room, and was very glad I did (rm 6043). The room was nice and bright. It was clean, the queen beds were comfortable, the view was excellent, the fridge and coffee maker worked, the AC worked, the shower and toilet worked, and the wifi even worked (mostly). There was a pretty effective blackout curtain. For the duration of our stay, the room remained satisfactory. Room service was fine, and at our request, acquired some extra chairs for the balcony (there were 4 of us and 2 chairs). The grounds of the resort are well-maintained, and very clean. The beach is well maintained, they seem to clean/rake it each night with staff picking up cups and other trash regularly. It was pretty busy, but we were always able to find chairs eventually.

No hot water in room

Not for beer drinkers. One beer. Sometimes warm. Rooms a little dated. Great amenities. Lots to do. Staff tries very hard but very limited English. Restaurant food delicious. Buffet not so great but. Plenty of variety. Wonderful beach.

The property was fine, very nice, it was nothing spectacular as the other resorts we have visited, but well maintained. We had access to the Beach side which seem to be better but there was no water in the restrooms which made things very unpleasant. The staff was not very welcoming but they were not rude aside from a particular instance with someone at the crepe station. This resort seems to caters primarily to the Italians, French and Argentinians; there were many activities that were not in English and they had a special night a restaurant which was, exclusively, for the French. The room was not very spacious, but ok. The bathroom sink was clogged, which was an inconvenience and makes you wonder how the cleaning person was able to clean with this problem. There was a $2 charge per day for the safe, which is not a big deal but other resorts include it. Overall, it was an ok stay, for a relaxing four days. We only had one incident we someone at the crepe station, that if management reads this, we hope they address. The male person's first name starts with an "E" and the last name starts with an "M." We don't want anyone to get in trouble or lose the job, but to be mindful that guests are there on vacation to have a good experience with their families, and that it's not ok to disrespect, confront, or challenge a guest. Overall, an ok experience.

A nice resort with many options for activites, dining, and multiple beach areas where you could be loud or quiet.
