Good location but dated Hotel. Remember 3* and it was. Best to stay in sea view rooms. We could not get one as all booked. Supposedly had a city view which was anything but. We looked out on to a blank wall. Room dark so fortunately did not need to spend much time in it. Bed very comfortable. Shower in bath not great. Breakfast ok.

Location right on beach was terrific. Nearby parking was tricky, but we found a spot on the side street. Breakfast is excellent for 8e.

Good hotel for cycle tourists. Free and accessible bike parking. Big rooms will hold 2 trailers. Elevator will hold one suitcase-sized trailer.

Staff not very friendly, bathroom clean but needs a complete overhaul, common areas old fashioned dirty carpets walls in room need painting, very disappointing.

I loved this hotel. My room was big and airy and overlooked the beach, the staff were lovely, the breakfast was great, and it's near everything, including bus stops, if you want to go further afield. It's probably not for you if you get exercised by noise - it's on a (relatively) busy road, near the casino and the rooms aren't particularly soundproof - or by slightly shabby carpets (some reviewers are really hung up on shabby carpets, I've noticed!). It's a hotel with a bit of character and that suits me. I would definitely recommend it.

Hotel is in a good position but needs updating to let it stand out. Very good choice for breakfast. Shower needs modernising to get rid of curtain and possible flooded bathroom.

Our room with sea view was agreeable. However I was surprised to see that there was a can of bug spray which made me suspect of general condition of hotel which is abit downtrodden and in need of an update. Location was good.

well, the area is great, a bit from the city but the hotel facilities are obsolete. No air condition, and the rooms are of a low 3 stars standard...

Overall the hotel appears tired - faded carpets and the air of better in bygone days.Arrived at 2pm only to find there was no running water in the whole hotel which did not get reconnected until after 6pm - despite alerting reception no apologies were offered by management other than the Gallic shrug - I add that this despite several complaints by myself and my wife and we both speak fluent French. Finally when the water supply was restored there was no hot water that night, the following morning and the following evening. Once again the staff did not seem concerned - maybe they thought it odd that their guests might like to shower!!Breakfasts and the sea view were the only good things about the place.

I enjoyed my short stay there and will definitely be back.

Just needed a bed for the night as I did not want to drive home after visiting the casino for the evening

The facilities were generally good, however, the television would not work (couldn't change channels) and switched itself on on the middle of the night- very annoying. It was only possible to open one side of the double doors onto the balcony, the blind would not close fully, and the curtains could not easily be closed. The hotel does not offer any parking, which is an issue during holiday periods (other hotels in the area do offer parking) when the on street parking is at a premium.

Traditional French Seaside Hotel. A bit of a timewarp but charming and in a brilliant location.

Slightly dated, but that actually added to it's appeal. Very helpful staff who safely locked our bikes away (touring down to Bordeaux). They do need to read their eMails though as I requested a twin room (deux lits) but we were first offered a double. They had one, but check if you go high season.

I was using this Hotel for a short weekend stay in the region for some business. Comfortable, friendly and reasonably priced for the location, though very much off season.

Good location next to a nice beach. After visiting St Jean de Luz and La Rochelle, Royan is a little disappointing (reminds me of Blackpool). Hotel front desk staff a bit bossy. Breakfast was pretty good.

This hotel has been at one time a 'Grand' Hotel. High ceilings, larger than average rooms and nice quality fittings. The rooms are maintained to a very high level of cleanliness and the staff are friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. The rooms are well equipped - we were in a twin room with a sea view. There is a small balcony with French windows which overlook the beautiful bay and beach. The view is stunning and the beach is literally 30m from the hotel entrance.. Breakfast will satisfy the largest of appetites and the dining room overlooks the bay. There is no restaurant at the hotel but there are numerous quality restaurants within 100m - the Moroccan Marrakech is one of the best and literally 80m from the hotel. The decor is a little dated but does not detract from the overall experience. There is very little parking at the hotel (2/3 spaces) but there is free parking nearby - but in high season the car parks are very busy. There is quite a busy road along the beach in front of the hotel but we didn't find the noise too intrusive - but some might. We really enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to return.

Excellent location overlooking beach, good parking restaurants and bars nearby

The only 2 things that We found disappointing was. 1. The Hotel write up shows that the bedrooms have a safe to leave your valuable items. The only safe that I found was a fridge. 2. the Hotel write up shows that they have satellite TV. There were 29 channels all foreign, not one English. When you are getting old like we are a little television in the evening goes down well and makes your holiday.

View lovely, relaxing and view of the sea, just what we wanted. No air conditioning, very disapointed. My husband is of large build & was unable to fit in the bath, I am petite & had a bath ith my knees bent, needs a total refurb. No sky in rooms & no bar in hotel. Staff were very pleasant especially the lady on reception would gp back once hotel has had a refurbishment.

My wife and I enjoyed our vacation. The accommodations were excellent. The information that Expedia supplied was very helpful.
