Really comfortable place to sleep if you are exploring the local area. Less than 10 min walk to High Force too.

I was walking so didn’t mind, but you would definitely need a car to get around. also, I am not sure about charging for the High Force view - you can just get the same for free on the other side of the river.

Staff friendly and helpful even before check in time. Evening meal was very good along with good selection of wines. Cooked breakfast has to be seen to be believed, exceptional quality and enough to satisfy the largest appetite. Hotel residents receive complimentary admission to both the High Force waterfall and nearby Raby castle, a saving of over £25

Room was not as large as expected but ok for a short stay.

Fabulous location with excellent staff who were always available and really friendly. Our room was small but cosy and very unique. The breakfast was amazing with a great choice.

The hotel was so cosy and the staff really amazing and accommodating. We were booked on a star gazing safari to the waterfall and got lost on the way, we were late to our reservation and worried we wouldn't have time to eat. The staff took our order at the bar and then took us to our room, our drinks were waiting for us at the bar when we came down. We fancied a cheeseboard for later and the staff made one up for us ready for our return after the stargazing. The food was incredible, the bed so comfy and the location beautiful. The breakfast was great too! Thank you.

Room 8 was tiny not what I booked !

On main road but with little traffic, so a quiet night. Warm comfortable room and bed, but no armchair. Spotless shower room. Parking right by the entrance. Help with carrying bag to first floor room. Spacious dining room. Polite service and generous portions of very good cuisine. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable armchairs in which to relax after dinner by log fire with nightcap. Morning newspapers provided in lounge.

I was contacted by text requesting pre-check-in information, which I provided. I received confirmation that it had been received. I subsequently received the same text request a couple of times! This made me wonder if my booking was secure, so I phoned the hotel and was assured that it was. But something in the booking system needs attention! However online checkout and payment by credit card went very smoothly.

What a wonderful hotel in the middle of nowhere. Right next to High Force one of the best waterfalls in the UK. We had both dinner and breakfest and the staff especially George one of the managers was so helpful. We finished our bottle of wine in front of a lovely log fire we stayed the night before valintines day and it was lovely and peaceful. Service was excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Friendly staff, warm welcome, nice clean room, facilities you'd expect, lovely meal (accommodated me being vegan, but would be nice if there was a choice), breakfast was delicious (again accommodated me being vegan and gave me more of what i could eat), Toby the dog was cute.

Vegan options could have been wider but appreciate what was on offer.

Very warm and welcoming hotel with the best staff. the food was Devine, the service was even better. the locations is dreamy, literally a stone throw away from the beautiful High Force Waterfall.

The hotel was in a fabulous location. The room was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. The food was good and plentiful. Wished we could have stayed longer but we will certainly return.

The room was very warm at night- it was next to the chimney for the log fire. Would be great in the winter though.
