My mistake was not noticing that Vacasa was the property manager. In the past 4-5 years, every time we’re at a Vacasa managed property something goes bad and they always refuse to deal with it. This time we had a medical emergency a week prior to the stay. I contact Vacasa to ask to reschedule, because the doctors are saying my wife should not travel post surgery. Told flatly that they will not allow us to reschedule. So, I tell them we are cancelling - we will not be there, we want our money back. They refuse. Multiple phone calls. Multiple text conversations. Multiple email conversations same story. I even ask to speak to a supervisor, they refuse to allow that as well. The day we’re supposed arrive, I start getting texts for the check-in process. I text back again repeating we’re not coming because of a medical emergency. Whomever received that text, was the one one and only human working for Vacasa and wasn’t a humanoid automaton repeating that can only repeat “our policy says…” She told me that of all the previous conversations no one had noted that a medical emergency was to basis of our request. She promised to get a supervisor to call me, but couldn’t guarantee the outcome. Unfortunately, the supervisor was another humanoid automaton with a hard drive and garbage-in-garbage-out programming not a real human with a heart or brain.
