Great place for a work retreat

The house was fantastic for hosting a weekend get together with cooking, fires, lawn games, and plenty of indoor entertainment.
The kitchen is incredibly well outfitted with a large variety of high quality cookware including a large cast iron collection, plenty of pots and pans, and a few heavy ceramic pots which worked great for a slow cooking some pork.
The property is maintained incredibly well and it was a pleasure spending time outside or inside during our stay.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a house that can be the focus of weekend, as well as anyone going up to newry for the mountains and nature.
The hosts were very communicative and provided everything we needed and requests ahead of our stay.
No complaints whatsoever, would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Our annual Kineo trip was called off due to lack of ice on Moosehead and this was a fantastic alternative. 18th year of our friends hangout, couldn't have asked for a better house.

This property is the perfect spot for a family or friends retreat with plenty to do inside and out all around the house. Second time staying at this property and cannot wait to come back again!

This was a truly beautiful property even more amazing upon arrival. We drove 6 hrs to get there when we arrived we were a 1/2 or so early. Kirk the property manager and his crew were finishing off there preparation for our stay. He informed us a nearby lake to visit and an great restaurant called Ebinezers. I’m not sure if we were supposed but my daughters paddle-boarded the pond and had a blast. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to rent a mansion. Its well worth it

The house was perfect for our large family ski trip. Lots of bedrooms and separate spaces for older kids to play while littles ones went to bed.

They were very quick to answer any questions we had prior to our stay. The property is well maintained. We were able to access the house a few hours early. We would certainly stay here again!

My family vacations every year with 2 other families - six adults + 6 kids (ages 9-16) - and this house fit all of us very comfortably. The house was beautiful and well maintained, was a short drive to great hikes and swimming holes, and communications with the owner/manager were quick and easy.
Two minor negatives - the WiFi signal was pretty weak and did not cover the entire house. Also, there were no air conditioning units in the upstairs bedrooms so it got pretty warm up there at night.
All things considered, it was a great place and I would highly recommend it to others looking for a place to stay.

I’ve rented literally dozens of homes in Maine from HomeAway. I like to say I live like a pauper and vacation like a king. This home truly is a castle. From the turret to the thrones (super comfortable chairs in formal living rooom (there are three), I was amazed at the grandeur and design that went into this home. But design and grandeur is not enough to earn a 5 star rating from me. Those important elements were followed up with top notch property management (Erin was the best - she was there for a few things that can come up when renting a home and gave me her text so I could contact her for any of my or my guests needs at any time - she went above and beyond). As well as cleanest, most well cared for home I’ve ever stayed in. Take all of that and drop it into the most beautiful setting this side of the Mississippi and you’ve got Solitude. Incredible…

This house was amazing. The owners were extremely accommodating and house had everything you need to unwind and relax. Hot tub, steam shower, and an amazing view of Sunday River. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back.

The house has a beautiful view of the slopes, easy to get to the mountain. Has a dining room big enough for the entire family to enjoy each other’s company.
