We were moved to a different cabin last minute as the owner of the cabins were in town and probably took the better cabins along with her adult children. I understand it is their property however we are paying to stay there and assumed we would get the better place. The beds, were super comfy and was very pleased with the cleanliness. We did not have a coffee maker in our cabin but the owner Lisa was very nice and gave us here's. Aside from the fact that the owners were all over the property (outside) during our stay we were happy with the days at the beautiful lake. Hope to return.

Reviewer Comments: reservationist told us we would be able to use a mooring at the property for our boat, which is one of the main reasons we booked at this location. HUGE dissapointment to our entire family when we arrived and were told by the owner that we could not, and when we saw the location of the mooring we knew why we could not (way too shallow. PLEASE do not advertise to your customers that there is a usuable mooring! The whole point of this trip was for father & daughter to be able to wake up early and have use of our boat ON SITE. On a positive note we did enjoy the company and exceptional hospitality of the property owner, Kip. Cleaning service may want to clean garbage cans and stove/oven, and microwave inbetween renters, old stuck on food and grease is very displeasing. We offer housekeeping sevices when there are issues but need to be contacted about such when you are here so we can attend to. Cottage 4 was updated this year with new floors, kitchen and furniture so we are surprised that you found the accommodations to be of poor condition. In the future if you choose to stay with us again we would like to offer a $50.00 coupon that is good up to 1 year from this dates off of a future stay. It is a great place to gather with family and friends, hike, bike, swim, boat, grill out and enjoy a campfire under a beautiful blanket of stars. This is the simple life. No TV's, no computers, no AC-just great times in the fresh air. AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! Definitely 5 stars.

Reviewer Comments: First, our daughter, Sarah Snyder, reserved Brookhaven #4 #5, #5 for her family and #4 for us. My name is Richard Colony. We have rented one or two cottages at Brookhaven and the main house(once) at least 8 times over the course of the last 30 years. We rented from the Parker Thomas' when they were alive in the late '70s and '80s when our family was growing up and 4 times since 2000. The biggest complaint about this visit was the condescending manner we were treated when we visited your office in Glen Arbor when we inquired about another cottage. I won't repeat the whole contact but would be happy to relate it if you are interested. The second involves the condition of the two row boats for use by guests. Last year the boats were not in great shape, mainly ore lock problems. This year one of the boats had a hole in the bottom of the boat and the other had ore locks that were about to fall off. I am not sure who is responsible for the condition of the boats, the property managers or the owner. Because the owner was in the main house and in a very cordial conversation with him I mentioned the problems with the boats. He was completely unaware of them. He took care of the ore locks and replaced a seat board right away, which impressed me. Our daugher and her family in #5 found the condition of the blankers and shower to be deplorable. I will let her give you the details if she wants. Let the housekeeping be summed up as less than great, even for a lake cottage. Richard Colony
