The property sits on acres. You are greeted by statuesque trees that line the grounds leading up to the crowned jewel! The house and garden is absolutely stunning! If you love fine details and architecture, this mansion is for you! Francesca and Elena responded immediately to any and every request/question we had, and because there were 16 of us, we had many questions! Francesca helped me designate rooms so that everyone was comfortable. Much appreciated. We had everything we needed: all dishes, linens (even all bedding was changed a few days into our stay). The house was full of life and interesting items that told the story of the owner and her family. The details were beautiful and the furniture fit the time/age of the home. Laundry on premises with dryer. Many bathrooms accommodated everyone. Barbecue grill and clean pool onsite. The caretaker, Ruan, was there any time we needed him (including a 12:00 am call because we decided that was the best time too cook lol, and couldn’t figure out something with the oven). He was very friendly and often removed trash from the kitchen. He even loaded up his car to take some luggage to the airport at 2:00 am). The adjacent restaurant was amazing. We ate a late lunch there which was delicious. Very friendly staff. Carrefour supermarket is a 4 minute drive away to pick up food and essentials. It is difficult to properly describe the splendor and warmth of this extraordinary villa: hundreds of years old, yet possessing all of the modern conveniences of a 5 star hotel, with spacious bedrooms, modern baths, a fully equipped kitchen and multiple grand living and dining salons. The historic furniture and appointments give one the warmth of an era long ago, along with lovely gardens, multiple outdoor dining and sitting areas and a very large swimming pool that was enjoyed on a daily basis by all of our grandchildren. The surrounding property is large, with a wonderful restaurant right next door, a driveway from Gone with the Wind, and close access to multiple small towns with family operated osterias, trattorias, cheese shops, bars, etc. Bologna is only 20 minutes away, although we enjoyed multiple small towns throughout the area as well, including Monteviglio, Bazzano, Modena, Parma etc. If you are seeking an authentic rustic Italian location to experience La Dolce Vita, I can think of no lovelier location to spend one's summer vacation!
