Our stay was perfect. The house was clean and very accurately described. The view is amazing! The kitchen was very clean and incredibly well stocked with all the dishes, pots and pans, utensils, and even spices we needed. The grill is right outside the kitchen door.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless and the beds and bedding was very comfortable.
We chose to rent the boat and jets skis and it was well worth the fee. The hot tube with the outdoor TV was a real treat.
The host was very helpful and responded very quickly to any inquiries.
Would strongly recommend this beautiful (clean!) home with a lovely view.

We had an awesome time at the Barefoot Retreat. The location is amazing - super close to everything you need! Some of the appliances were out of commission during our stay - the dishwasher didn’t have power, and the outdoor TV mount was broken - but the host was amazingly responsive and communicative! Could not recommend this place more, I would definitely stay here again!!

Barefoot Retreat was a perfect way to end our summer before school starts. This was our first time in SML and it did not disappoint. The host was phenomenal to work with and answered any inquiries we had. We brought our own boat, went fishing on the lake everyday, fished on the dock and of course swam the whole weekend. We felt like we were home. The house was perfect for the kids with all the activities in the basement, the hot tub and the lake! We are already planning our trip for next year. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We had an amazing time at the Barefoot Retreat Lake house!! Everything matched up to the pictures and description in the listing. Our family had a blast around the pool table, in the hot tub, and of course down by the water!! We rented the boat for a few days and had fun tubing and wakeboarding (all provided there on the property) and we also rented the jet skis which our teenagers had a blast riding!! They communicated very well with us the whole time if we had a question. We definitely want to go back!!

We had 6 adults and an infant. There was plenty of room for everyone. The house was clean, comfortable and plenty to do when it rained as well.

We had a wonderful time on our family July 4th getaway! The host was quick to answer questions during the searching and booking process. The house was perfect for our family group of 6. We enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaking (rented from a local company), and jet skiing!! We enjoyed using the outdoor grill and large table on the back deck. What a beautiful view! We also loved the fireworks on July 4th, beautiful! Indoors, there was plenty to do. Our family loved the pool table, foosball table, and retro arcade games. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We will keep you in mind for future bookings!

Our stay was great! The house was incredibly clean and well-stocked with new items in the kitchen. There were plenty of paper and cleaning supplies. The check in / out process very easy. The owners offer rental of their jet ski and boat and we rented the jet ski one day. Highly recommend the house and location. We’ll be back! Also we had a really good (somewhat expensive) meal at Jake’s which is right around the corner by boat.

The house was great but the location isn’t in a “no wake” zone on the water, so our boat got scratched up and beat up by the dock. Just something to think about it you’re bringing a boat During busy water season!

We had a large group this year and our stay was absolutely wonderful! From Check in to check out every need was accommodated by Sarah and William! We all highly recommend this property!

We absolutely adored our VACA home for a week. With a family home/ land in Moneta we have been visiting the area our entire lives but we had never stayed at the lake. We have a new favorite place to stay! The house was comfortable for our party of 6. The teens were obsessed with the gaming den. Several of us spent time paddle boarding. The boat was out for repairs so we rented one at the Marina for a day. Hiking at the Peaks and Chasing waterfalls rounded out our stay. We will certainly attempt to rent this home again.

My family and I had a wonderful vacation! The house and property were absolutely perfect and provided everything we could have hoped for! We had 4 kids staying with us 13, 3, 2, and 1 and the amenities made sure they greatly enjoyed their time. I especially loved that the owners were thoughtful enough to include a baby gate for the steps leading downstairs, that definitely gave me peace of mind with my 1 year old running around. The hot tub and fire pit was wonderful for night time relaxing after the kids went to bed. I cannot recommend this property enough, we would definitely plan a vacation here again!

Our family had a wonderful time together at this fabulous property on Smith Mountain Lake! The home is clean and comfortable and gave us perfect sleeping accomodations for our grown-up kids and 2 grandkids. We enjoyed coffee on the deck overlooking the lake, relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings, well stocked kitchen and the grill for family dinners, kayaking, SUP, and explorng the lake. I highly recommend this family escape. We will not hesitate to return!

We had four generations staying at Barefoot Retreat for my daughter’s graduation at Liberty University. The drive to Liberty was under an hour and gave us a mini vacation weekend. The house was very clean, fully stocked with everything we needed, beds were very comfortable and location was great. Sarah and William were easy to communicate with and always quick to respond to questions.

We loved our stay. The view of the lake was beautiful. They took great care of forseeing everything you might need while you are there including: beach towels to use, paper products, shower soaps, as well as laundry and dishwasher soaps. We felt well provided for and found the house to be very hospitable.
