Booking.com I suggest that you have a representative have a look at the Harte & Garter, as it is has serious problems. Its a fire hazzard, and the lifts are out of order. Had to have a family member to help with my case upto and down from the 3rd floor. No wifi, no internet, carpets are dirty and threadbare splatted in the paint from the rushed paint job. It should be closed Urgently before someone is seriously hurt. Finally got into my room to find only a sheet on the bed and 2 pillows. No doona, no cover, no towels, no bathmats. the 2 mugs were taken away the minute I walked in as they were dirty, No daily house keeping, no vaccumming, no replacement of towels or tea and coffee or milk. No TV. Wires hanging out of the wall, pipes exposed in bathroom. Only 2 small lights and a small lamp for lighting, had to open curtains and leave windows open to add extra light to room and to air the smelly mouldy stink. Toilet bowl with black stains, tap in bath leaking for the whole time I was there, basin stained and dirty. Stained and dirty and dusty furniture, paint splatted on furniture as well as the carpet, windows dirty and smudged with dirty cloths. Keys had to be renewed 3 times as they would not open the door.

Location is ideal but it doesn’t make up for how horrendous the “hotel” is. Unsafe. Dirty. I mean rotten dirty, disgusting. Do not stay here. Full refund requested and expected. Next step is to contact local authorities about the health and safety concern and to clarify if this premises is legally permitted to be open. If, in fact it is, I’ll be amazed. Non compliance with every regulation imaginable.

This is an unsafe place to stay. It’s not a hotel. It shouldn’t be available on any hotel booking site. There was no check in process, a single person with broken English with a pen and paper writing down names and room numbers, no computer or booking system, nevermind GDPR. We arrived to check in at 12 and were told to come back after 4pm. We were going horse racing in Ascot and had flown in from various countries, including Ireland and the US, so we had to get ready in nearby bathrooms of another premises and leave. At 1am, after returning from the races, we were still struggling to get checked in to rooms. One of our party was given a room key to a room that had another couple in it when he entered at 1am. He then went to go get another key, to a different room and when he went to that room a man from Belfast was in it. So twice he entered the wrong rooms during the night. Thankfully neither of those guests raised a complaint or reported this accidental intrusion. The “hotel” sent an email the day of check in saying the lift wasn’t working and that there was some small refurbishment happening in the lobby. The lift not working wasn’t acceptable for our extended party. I wouldn’t have booked if I’d been made aware of that. Our group had 3 people in their 70s, two of whom have had knee replacements and one of them was given a room on the first floor and the other was on the third. With no lift. No one even offered to help bring bags up the stairs. Though there seems to be no staff in general. The rooms were not safe. They were hazardous. Some of our group had no power in their rooms. Some had no hot water. None of us got a clean towel or toilet paper once during our stay. There were towels spread out, drying in the “ballroom”. There was an entire foyer bar area upstairs with plaster falling off it. It was unimaginable and unsafe. The shower head came off, mid shower and hit a member of our group in the face. The shower door didn’t close.

The room was OK but no access to TV, beds not made up and no waste removal, no drinking glasses in bathroom. Limited access after 7.00pm and no elevator working. Hotel recently refurbished but work not finished. Location was ideal next to Castle and the Ivy Restaurant and central station but would not use again. Every stair creaked and upper floor stairs were too steep and short tress. Not for elderly or disabled.

Lack of service, not contactable by telephone, no catering and milk sugar etc not replaced for second day all others as above. Staff and management inexperienced.

Asked for clean towels but never came. Shower didn’t work asked for it to be looked at but nothing done. Don’t think any staff could speak English and understand us. Room wasn’t cleaned. Would not recommend this Hotel.

location is great pleasant staff but sometimes were unsure about things.

it was run down. smelt musky. no tv, no air con, door, electronic door key panel was broke so had to keep getting someone to open door for us. the smell from the bathroom was disgusting. the view from room was bins which stank! it was unbearable.

It shouldn’t be open , honestly felt like we were squatting nothing works,no tv ,no air con, no housekeeping no WiFi poor young girl dealing with annoyed guests , no restaurant, no reception no signage thread bare carpet , broken curtains I could go on but life’s too short seriously considering asking for a refund no value for money at all.

There was no breakfast. Zero facilities in the hotel. Bathroom dirty, mo toilet roll in Bathroom. Carpets really filthy dirty. No reception desk, no Manager in the hotel. The hotel was without a doubt the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Dirty not fit for purpose in any shape or form.
