I booked the duplex with a perfect view of the Speyer Christmas and New Year's Market on main street. Gästehaus Maximilian is the PERFECT spot if you are looking for an authentic small town Germany experience. Just make sure to clearly communicate any special circumstances or requests, if you book in advance. Highly recommended.

The room was not at the advertised address in the main house on the square, but on the bottom floor of an apartment building on a side street about 200 metres away. Check-in seems to be a sidejob for the people working in the cafe/restaurant Maximilian. And the bed was not the size I got in my conformation. Nobody responsible when check-in starts at 15.

We spent two nights in the Guesthouse during a family week-end in Speyer. The hotel is clean and simple, our room was in another building very well situated near the old tower (Pörtel) and just 5 minutes walk away from the main house. The hotel staff is fantastic, very friendly and efficient. The restaurant that belongs to the hotel is a great place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. We definitely recommend this place.
