This got pretty good reviews, and I don't agree. PLUS: Room was clean & comfortable (kudos to the cleaning crew). Parking lot was huge and well lit. NEGATIVES: I requested a 1st floor room (non-smoke) w/ a king bed. I got a double queen on the 2nd floor. He told me that if I wanted the 1st floor (w/ double queen, no king) it would be $20 more. There were only 7 other cars in the lot that night (didn't look crowded). The room updates the motel did looked very cheap. ie: no power to the hair dryer unless you turned on the bathroom light. Air conditioner was in back of the room in a niche so the it took forever to cool the room. New pedestal sink in the bath with nowhere to put your toiletries. I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but I've stayed in better in Shamrock.

The room was clean and tidy, the Air conditioner worked well and the bathroom was also clean with plenty of towels. The price was right for our budget minded trip. There were restaurants nearby and a quaint Old Route 66 gas station across the way. The manager wea friendly and full of tips. We had a pleasant stay

Stopped here with a U-Haul truck and car trailer. Parking is ample and very well lit. The room was very clean, neat, and comfortable, with a good view of the parking lot. The owners are a pleasure to talk to, and I make it a point to stay here on my numerous trips across the country.

I have had some bad experiences with small local motels but we decided to take a chance with Western Motel. I was very pleased with my stay. The room was a little dated but everything was clean and comfortable and the price was great. The gentleman manning the front counter was very pleasant and helpful. I would have no problem with staying here again.

The Western is a wonderful place for an overnight stay. The rooms are clean, the parking is well lit, and the staff is terrific. Oversized parking is a cinch. Been there more than a dozen times over the years while on the I-40, cross country trek. Will stay there a dozen times more.

I drove coast to coast, literally, to see my son in CA. I have always wanted to do the great American road trip on Route 66. When I was planning my trip, I saw The Western Motel right on Route 66 in Shamrock, TX. So I stayed here on my way out and I was so impressed with the staff and how amazing they are that I cancelled my reservations on my return trip and drive an extra two hours to stay here again. I was so impressed that they remembered my name and they were genuinely happy to see me again. If you are coming through Shamrock TX, do you yourself a favor and enjoy the Western Motel and TX hospitality. And don’t forget to have coffee and pastries with Elvis at the U Drop Inn right across the street.

So I stayed here on my way out and I was so impressed with the staff and how amazing they are that I cancelled my reservations on my return trip and drive an extra two hours to stay here again. I was so impressed that they remembered my name and they were genuinely happy to see me again. If you are coming through Shamrock TX, do you yourself a favor and enjoy the Western Motel and TX hospitality. I have stayed here many times on cross country traveling. The owners are extremely pleasant and the rooms are always clean and nice. I like that the parking lot is extremely well lit and capable of handling large vehicles and trailers.

Room was quiet, just leave the wall fan on and you don't hear me outside noise. Was overall clean and quiet, comfortable king bed. Plenty of well lit parking for a truck and trailer if needed. Easy check-in, cash or card. What you would expect for a motel, not high-end but if you just looking for a place to stay for the night and check out all the cars movie stuff around town. Town this is a very nice hotel. I would stay here again.

The air wasn't on in the room, so it was a bit stale smelling until the air started circulating.

We are doing the R66 tour and wanted to a least one classical hotel. This is an old style motel but has been refurbished and has fresh paint and is very clean. Has to be the most value I have got for the price. It's not an modern efficient unit (has an actual key), but it is large and quiet. (Air conditioner may be a tad loud but goes with the decor). Strongly recommend it. No restaurant, but a couple within walking distance. And across the street is the refurbished Conoco service station - a must see!
