Good

History

We attended a wedding here, so the location was good for us. Breakfast was good, with plenty of coffee and orange juice, lady on breakfast was very friendly.

Lady was a bit strange/rude, very abrupt, she had a routine and we were not allowed to interrupt this with questions. Lady emailed us before but I didn't get it, so when we arrived she had changed our room and it was without breakfast. We said this wasn't acceptable and she changed back, we were in the property alone, no other guests at all. The property was extremely dated and very tired. The cleanliness was not the best.

A fabulous location with expansive grounds and a luxurious feel to the decor. We loved sitting out on the portico and watching the groundhogs, deer and fireflies as the dusk descended. The room was comfortable (although the bed was very high - almost too high for me to get into!) and the place was very clean throughout. We were unfortunately a bit delayed getting to Rosemont, after the time that the reception desk staff goes home, which meant that the manager had to wait on especially for us because all the rest of the staff were involved in a wedding reception elsewhere on site. The manager could not have been more welcoming and helpful and told us to make sure to contact her if we needed anything at all. We didn't see any other staff until the morning, and in fact had the place entirely to ourselves as there were no other guests that night! The main emphasis for Rosemont is as a wedding venue - that was obvious from the decor and general ambiance. I can see that it would be a beautiful setting for a wedding.

It is expensive - we treated ourselves as an early anniversary gift but probably wouldn't have stayed there for a normal overnight stop. Unfortunately there is no evening meal option, and Berryville doesn't have a lot to offer. We ended up getting a Greek (!) takeaway from the town and taking it back to Rosemont and eating it sitting on the huge portico, just my husband and I as there were no staff or anyone else around. The bathroom was small in our room, disappointingly.

Beautiful property overall. Quaint smaller guest houses with lots of history. Would Defiantly stay here again.

We stayed in the Custer House. The Bed could be updated, a bit saggy. The Exterior paint is in need of updating it's currently chipping. Does not really bother us that much but says a lot.
