Mara welcomed us in a private parking spot (VERY important in this area) with a happy smile and a lot of helpful tips (turned out there is a special gniocchi festival on August 18th!) to a very specious and equipped apartment with a very big terrace overlooking the lake! All the beds were freshly made and the atmosphere in the house was wonderful. A short walk from the apartment (281 stairs, we counted!) you’ll reach a great spot to enter lake Como, with grass and a bench, where you will join the locals for a dive to the cold and refreshing water. The location is great - a short drive to Como and Bellagio , but staying away from the crowds. The only disadvantage was the proximity to the road but there was not a lot of traffic at night. We highly recommend this apartment and Mera as an hostess

The host Mara was amazingly kind and willing to help in any way possible. We arrived much later than planned due to flight delays, and Mara contacted us several times to make sure that we were ok and made us feel welcome without no sign of irritation even if she was waiting for us the whole afternoon.
Once we arrived she showed us our parking place which is included with the apartment and even offered to help us with our luggages. The apartment is spotlessly clean and spacious and much better that the pictures on the booking sites. There is everything needed to cook a god meal and enjoy it on the terrace overlooking lake Como. She gave us a lot of information and tips on the surroundings and things to see / do in the lake area.
The area is great as a base to discover the lake area or to just spend the days relaxing and going to the nearby beach(5 min). There are buses and boats serving the area but we had a car which is even better as it is more flexible. There are a couple of restaurants on either side of the apartment and there is even a local supermarket that has everything. It is of course much cheaper to stop by at Lidl or Aldi in Como city and do the shopping there.
Overall a great host, clean, spacious and well equipped apartment with a parking place and an amazing view over the lake and we will definitely recommend it, would love to come back again.

No review could do justice to how amazing Casa di Mara is. Lake Como is heaven on Earth and Mara is the perfect host! The property is even better than the pictures and the view is more beautiful than you could believe. Mara was an absolute pleasure to work with as she went above and beyond what you expect from a VRBO host. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend anyone planning a trip to Europe to stay at Casa di Mara!

My family has stayed in alot of vacation rentals over the years and this was the best one yet. Mara met us the minute we arrived and guided me into our parking spot. She is so friendly and informative. The home was spotlessly clean, large and had everything we needed. The views were so beautiful. Bellagio was a short 20 minute drive and from there the car ferry took us across to each side of the lake. Wish we had more time to stay.

The property was much cleaner and bigger than the photoes online indicated. Mara was lovely to communicate with online and in person. She even informed us of local news that affected our plans. We sat on the large patio each evening staring at the lake. It was a great stay!

vrbo stay in Bellagio
Mara was great!!! I was upset by the location at first. I placed Bellagio as my choice to stay and when I booked this I found out it was 30 miles away up the mountain. You had to rely on the bus and it was late many times and crowded. Some people waiting for the bus had to be turned away due to the crowds. I will be more in tune to the location next time. When I book Bellagio I expect it to be Bellagio. As I said Mara was a wonderful host and her apartment was very nice and spacious!!!!

Casa Mars
Wonderful week stay at Casa Mara. Mara’s son Andrea was waiting for us even though we were late as we had missed a train. He felt sorry for us as we were so frazzled that he drove us to La Meridiana for a wonderful dinner. The apartment was soooooo spacious, the kitchen well equipped and we had Salts, peppers coffee sugars olive oils and balsamic to start the week. The very large patio was perfect for wine and cheeses. We had just debarked from a two week cruise so we really appreciated the washer and washer soaps and clothes rack/dryer on patioThe apartment was right near the bus stop and so easy to buy bus tickets either at Bar Sonia or on bus. Took buses to Como , Bellagio and then the fast ferries to Varenna and Mennagio. A short walk to right we went to small grocery that had most items needed. and Bar Sonia .I will mention you need to bring your own bar soaps and shampoos
Only misstep was we had the Lake tour boat let us off at Pognana Lario ferry stop and then had to walk up hundreds of Steps to get up to street level! Do not do that!!!
It was a fabulous stay at a lovely apartment overlooking the lake . Cannot recommend it enough!

Beautiful view
We loved the view from Mara's apartment overlooking the lake Como. For people who like to hike there is an old path called Strada regia running from Como (town) to Bellagio. It passes the apartment quite near and is really nice for morning/evening walks too.

Mara was very welcoming and helped us settle in well in Pognana Lario. She answered all the questions we had and even recommended a hike to the top of Monti Palanzone (a definite recommendation for any following guests)

Summer in Pognana Lario
The host was amazing! She was just so helpful with local knowledge and anything we needed. The car parking space is a bonus. The apartment is located in a quiet area.

Second visit to this property
We stayed here in 2018 my wife's parents and had a great time. This year we stayed for four days during a four week road trip with friends. Maura is a super host, and the apartment is spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped and exactly as described. The dedicated parking space directly opposite the apartment is invaluable . I hope we will return.

Pognana Lario Oasis
Mara was great, and went over and above making sure we got settled and enjoyed ourselves in the Lake Como area. Her home is about half way between Como and Bellagio. Bus and ferry stops are near by, as are a couple of restaurants and markets. Her place occupies the second floor above street level, and is spacious and well equipped. Perfect for couples and families alike. The sun deck is a good place to hang and watch the world go by. Thank you Mara for being such a wonderful hostess. Ciao!

SEJOUR A POGNANA LARIO
Nadine, Alex et moi avons été enchantées de notre séjour. L'appartement est très spacieux, très propre avec une vue magnifique sur le lac pour un prix très abordable. La gentillesse et la bonne humeur de Mara ont également été un atout pour rendre notre séjour encore plus agréable. A noter qu'une place de parking est réservée pour les vacanciers venant en voiture (très appréciable). La région est vraiment très belle.

Walk up across from Clooney’s
It was very hot, humid and smoky during our 4 night stay. One nice bedroom for a couple. The second has no window and is designed for kids.
Bathroom is very nice. Kitchen was very hot and had an odor.
Location about half way between Bellagio and Como. Best to have a car or use the bus. Water boats too few and far between.
The owner was very welcoming.

The view is amazing and Mara is really nice!
Best stay on our trip. There is a lot of traffic on the road but the views and villa are absolutely gorgeous! I would love to come back again! If you ride enjoy cycling there are so many options and I would recommend renting in Bellagio at bikeit. Casey is really helpful and went wayyyy over and above to help us!

Wonderful View
This property is right on the main road and has a wonderful view of Lake Como. It’s a quiet little village with a couple of bars and mini marts. The bus is close to the apartment, so it was easy to get the bus to Bellagio and to the train station. The ferry worked too, but be prepared for a long climb up the stairs from the lake or walk down to the lake. Mara is a gracious host and the apartment has a lot of room and is very clean. Thank you, Mara!!!

Lovely spacious apartment
Just back from a wonderful four days in this lovely, spotlessly clean apartment. Great views from the balcony and good location.

Very clean, spacious and comfortable apartment with magnificent view of the lake.
Mara our host was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for her. Driving by the lake takes some getting used to as the roads are very narrow. Local restaurants are all excellent. We took one hour boat trip on the lake. It was nice to see things from a different prospective. Will recommend visit Bellagio and if you want some culture try the opera at La Scala in Milan. Perfect spot in serene setting
This apartment has everything you need to call home for your stay. Away from the tourist crowds of Como you are free to explore the area whether by local transportation or car Asmara provides a parking spot. The best part of the stay here was our host Mara who is wonderful. After three weeks it was the perfect spot to sit back relax and enjoy the local area.

Spacious apartment with a lovely view of the lake. Loved Mara, what a gracious hostess. Recommend Peppo's - great family owned restaurant with a nice view of the lake. Travel the road between Como and Bellagio at your own risk.

lovely spacious appartment in stunning location
We had a fantastic holiday in Pognana Lario, the appartment is wonderful and has everything you could wish for, we were very happy there for our 11 night stay. The village of Pognana is located about halfway between Como and Ballagio and has 2 shops 2 great bars, where you can get pizza ice cream drinks etc and a restaurant. We used boat and bus to get around and found we didn't need a car. Great beaches to swim and relax are all within walking distance. The owner Mara is absolutely lovely and is on hand to help with anything you need. Thank you so much for our wonderful holiday!

Fantastic Location, Fantastic Property and Fantastic Host
Thank you Maria for a wonderful stay in your lovely, well equipped and comfortable apartment. We loved all of it and we miss sitting on your roomy terrace and balcony. We would definitely like to come back and stay longer next time. We loved the village and the friendliness of everyone and especially you. Your welcome and detailed explanation of the area and apartment was really exceptional. The parking is a real bonus on Como and we were able to leave the car, the whole time we were there, catching boats or buses to where we wanted to go. Apartment very convenient to both. Nicely situated with a great view of the lake from the Terrace and the kitchen. The spare room overlooking the terrace was a bonus, as was the telescope we could use, looking at the stars. Would totally recommend this apartment if you want to stay on Como and we shall certainly be back at some time in the future.

Glorious Holiday
Amazing apartment with superb views. So much space and a lovely patio area. The apartment is furnished with everything you need.
Mara is a lovely host and will help in any way she can.
2 shops and 2 places to eat within walking distance and a third place to eat for lunch all with amazing views.
The bus service is mostly every hour to both Bellagio and Como, although don't expect them to be on time!
The ferry service is limited but we found it fine. A bit of a trek to the ferry departure point and the beach so wear good shoes.
The beach is a concrete slipway so we would advise going to Hotel Aurora in Lezzeno (via bus) and pay 15 Euros per person for the day for a lounger/umbrella. The restaurant here is also very good.
The location of the apartment is by a busy road, however once the windows are closed it is not a problem and if you are hyper sensitive to noise you can sleep in the inside bedroom.
Mara - maybe a few more hangers needed.
If you only have time to visit one place - Bellaggio was definitely our favourite! If you go to Como - you must do the Funicular Railway to Brunate. Well worth a visit.

A well-presented, spotlessly clean, modernised property.
As per the title, the accommodation was excellent. Roomy, well-equipped and immaculate, with lovely views over lake Como from the balcony and also from the kitchen/diner. The apartment fronts directly onto the road that runs through the village, and it can be quite busy at times - especially if there are events being held nearby (firework displays and the like). However, we were too busy exploring the area to be concerned by traffic noise and by the time we'd returned to our base the flow of traffic had subsided to normal levels.
Mara is a wonderfully enthusiastic and helpful hostess and the people are especially friendly in the town, where there is a small supermarket 10 minutes' walk from the apartment. Although we only used this as a three-day stopover on our journey home we'd certainly return in the future, should the opportunity arise, for a more extended stay at this excellent property in a beautiful part of Italy.

A fantastic visit!
Mara was a perfect hostess! She met us in the parking lot at 10:00 PM after a long day of driving from sightseeing in France and on the hectic roads around the lake. Mara promptly directed us to our private parking space which was only feet from the front door of the apartment - an absolute luxury in Italy. The apartment is spacious and we wanted for nothing. The best part of the apartment - a ceiling fan! Mara gave us great recommendations. Highly recommend this apartment. Great view of the lake!

Lovely apartment, very clean and spacious.
Easy transfer by ferry, a short walk and many steps away and bus. You can get to any part of the lake easily from here.
Mara very helpful. Everything we needed in the kitchen to cook. A couple of great local bars but not much else locally.

Mara and her family are wonderful, friendly and helpful.
The apartment was super clean and spacious, the view from the kitchen while making coffee in the morning and cooking on the gas stove in the afternoon was wonderful. The refrigerator was very large with a big freezer to make ice for the sunny 37 C degree weather we had, a food processor to make ice cold fruit smoothies was a plus. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms really spacious. We felt at home. Sitting on the extremely large balcony and eating looking at the views of the mountains and lake was so relaxing and enjoyable, food shops and a bar a quick walk away. The swimming area was just up the road and down the hill on a stone walk path. And so cooling and refreshing was the swimming. Many locals to share the beach with and practice my Italian. What a wonderful place, I'm sure to return to Lake Como! Thanks Mara!

You might look at the low price and think maybe it's not such a good place - nothing could be further from the truth!
This apartment is terrific; spacious and very nice. The views of beautiful Lake Como are just as you see in the photos. The master bedroom is filled with well cared for antique furniture. Bathroom is big and everything is clean as a whistle.
We loved sitting on the terrace and just taking it all in.
There were only two of us, however, there is plenty of room for a family to spread out and not be on top of one another. There are even games for the kids.
Mara has thought of everything and is so friendly and helpful. She greeted us with great enthusiasm and we felt right at home immediately. And when I left behind my brand new raincoat, she let me know and shipped it to our home. That's the kind of personal, friendly service we hope for in a home stay, and Mara delivers.
We loved walking to the small market nearby, and were able to purchase everything we needed to cook in the amazingly well-equipped kitchen. I wish we had that stove at our house.
Having free parking right in front is a huge plus in the area, and you definitely do need a car.
We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Lake Como

My husband and our two sons 7 & 9, stayed here last summer. It was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed the spectacular views of lake como over breakfast and dinner on the balcony. Easy access to a nice local swim spot and to the ferry to explore the other towns on the lake. Numerous hiking options right out the back door. Mara is a wonderful host. Her apartment was spotless and the accommodations very comfortable. I would hope we have the opportunity to stay here again!
