A big shout-out to the lady at the front desk on our check-out date, August 7, 2024. She genuinely collected our feedback and showed a sincere commitment to enhancing future guests' experiences. If we ever return to Duncan and choose to stay at this hotel, it will be entirely because of her.
There were some issues with the room, including stale air and a lack of conveniently placed power sockets. Under normal circumstances, these factors might have deterred me from returning. However, the exceptional service provided by one staff member (I apologize for not remembering her name) made a significant difference. Knowing that the hotel is under renovation and that the staff genuinely cares about guest feedback and improvements, I recommend giving this place a try.
Duncan’s location is convenient if you're traveling by car and plan to visit nearby spots like Victoria, Nanaimo, Cathedral Grove, and Duncan itself, which we discovered to be a hidden gem thanks to the helpful information provided by the same staff member.

The room was spacious, clean and quiet. Free parking in front of my room. Restaurant right there with good food. Staff was wonderful. Room was ready when I arrived even though I arrived 30 minutes earlier than I said I would be there.
TV was strangely very quiet even with volume turned up to max. Heating was difficult to control. The heater seemed to not have a thermostat and so even setting the heat at the lowest level, it still got rather warm in the room. I had to eventually turn the heat off for the night.

Although the room was non-smoking and the carpet looked fairly new the room wreaked of cigarette smoke which lead us to believe the smoke had penetrated the walls.

Location was nice, central to Duncan and close to everything. Staff was nice and helpful. Parking was easy to access and many spots available.
Beds were horribly uncomfortable, though expected somewhat. The bathroom didn't have a functional fan/vent which was pretty annoying that you couldn't clear the smell.aftee someone used it. It was extremely cold upon entering, like literally ice cold until at least 2h after cranking the heater to max.

Central location, comfy beds, good quality towels and bedding. Staff very friendly and helpful. Issues were eventually fixed. The cafe on site (not part of the motel) was very good for breakfast.
Motel is generally in poor repair. Stairs leading to second level look and feel dangerous (edging jutting out, nails missing). Bathroom tap broke in half in my hand. Dial to control temperature was broken. Bathroom sink had no stopper and was slow to drain.

Staff friendly helpful. Excellent tea coffee microwave facilities. Very clean and comfortable.
Need to advertise better. Repair your neon signs. It gives the wrong impression. It's a perfect place to stay. We loved our first motel experience!

it was convenient and the staff was courteous.
Don’t mean to nit-pick but it was a bunch of little things that added up to it being shabby. They knew we had four people occupying but there was not enough towels for everyone. the bathroom was clean at a first glance, but had blood smudge on the door frame and hair in the tub. things like that made it subpar.

Checking in at reception was a smooth process and the person serving us was professional and friendly. Location easy to find and plenty of parking spaces. The room is basic and clean. Had a good sleep in the comfortable bed. Thank you.
