The hotel is remodeling. Our room was not ready to be rented. Too many things didn’t work. We cut our stay short because of this.

one of few hotels in Carmel by the sea that has property for a garden and a small pool. beautiful grounds, comfy lobby and restaurant area open to seating all day. wine and sangria in the afternoon. wonderful breakfast included in the stay. 4 min walk to the beach and the towns restaurants. they provided a shuttle to and from town. the staff is super friendly and accommodating.

the rooms are tiny. I booked a king size room but we were put into a mobility accessible room. it smelled of paint and had no shower head, just a hand held shower with literally a trickle of water coming out. there was no chairs in a room, no place to put toiletries in the bathroom (I had to ask for a chair to be brought in), the heater was located low in a wall and was super noisy and didn’t look very safe - it was an actual electric hot plate heater, looked like a fire hazard to me - the room was just renovated, it made no sense. no closet. there was loudstomping on the floor above us until 11 pm, so no sound proofing. we normally would not complain but this room was impossible, so we were transferred to a “normal” comfy room with a huge water pressure out a normal shower head and enough furniture in a room. it made me so sad for a “mobility affected person” who had to stay in the first room. it was that uncomfortable. it felt very passive aggressive to handicapped persons. I felt offended and I am no mobility challenged. there was a lot of construction material around the hotel and inside half of the building. it was not mentioned in the description, we were charged $800 a night nevertheless.

Great location

All rooms plus lobby, garage parking etc. under reconstruction. Total renovation and chaos. Entire hotel should’ve been closed until all work done. Top mgmt refused to alert guests of this chaos until arrival!!! Total disaster and never to return. GM provided $300 credit which did little to dissuade guest anger. Shame on this hotel!!!

The property was under construction all over the facility. Constant noise all day long. Charging $45 for eggs and waffles outrageous. Essentially forces guest who don’t eat daily breakfast to pay the fee is wrong. Plus more outrageous is increased weekly rate of $489 to $629 on weekends is outrageous in my view. There seems like no end in cite for price gouging customers. Only good thing was staff was excellent, the owners need to reevaluate their ridiculous fee structure.

Everything was amazing, no need to get in a car the whole time. Such great proximity to the beach and downtown. The views from the room were unbeatable for the price. Don’t even get me started about the fabulous champagne breakfasts and omelettes!

The heating is very old, the pipelines were making noise every night, which made us sleep very bad the first night. we had to stop using it

Everything! I love historic buildings, and beautiful architecture and craftsmanship. Beautiful gardens and grounds, too. Our stay was too short. I hope to return to experience more of this lovely Carmel hotel.

Our run was very small and small need.

Location, location, location. Bed is comfortable. Excellent brunch. Shuttle service to dinner was good.

Room is cramped. Only one sink. Small closet. Turndown service one day out of three. Bartender was rude at 9:55 and would not serve. Bar closes at 10 with a room full of patrons. No newspaper delivery. Generally speaking the office staff was not welcoming nor did they provide the service expected. Rooms are small so service should be extraordinary.

room was so small and in need of repair the bathroom door hit the bathroom vanity so you had to side shuffle into the bathroom no air conditioning no elevators ran out of coffee at 7:30am low on staff
