Ancient villa with fantastic sea view and swimming pool just a few minutes from Positano

If you like stairs the village of Praiano is your place. If you have any mobility issues I’d select another area. Loved it Luigi answered all of our questions and needs

Simply unbelievable- the home, the location, the gracious host. A beautiful taste of Italy with gorgeous accommodations and views, great dipping pool, comfortable beds, and well stocked kitchen. As with all houses in this area, dozens of steps to and from the home so make sure you have healthy legs and lungs. It’s worth every step. And big thanks to Luigi and family - such kind hosts with outstanding communication and hospitality. Thank you! Would stay at this home again and again!

Everything was even better than we could have imagined. The hospitality, views, pool, terrace and ambiance were perfect and Praiano is the perfect less-busy spot between Amalfi and Positano. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to stay here and enjoy the breathtaking Amalfi coast.

We stayed for one week and used the villa to explore the Amalfi Coast and to spend some calm days at the villa with the breathtaking view from the terrace and pool. The host Luigi was always available and his son was a great support with the luggage and for check in. The villa offers everything you could think of, a fully equipped kitchen, a lovely pool, fully air-conditioned, comfortable beds etc.

We had an amazing stay at this Villa. Luigi and his wife and son were very helpful with the planning of the trip and helped with some excursions during our stay. It is a very quiet and peaceful villa, however there are a lot of steps to get to the villa. My only complaint would be the walk to the villa with heavy luggage and wish that we were a little closer to the main town and restaurants.

This villa is amazing with breathtaking views. The host provided great information relating to transportation services and recommendations. He also had snacks and food in the pantry which we used for a meal! The location is in a very quiet neighborhood so if you’re looking for peace away from the crowds, this is for you. It is a bit of a walk from any food and the closest pickup spot for a taxi is about a 5 minute walk. The cost of a taxi to Positano is ~€50. The nearest bus stop is about a 15 minute walk and it’s only a €2 ticket. WARNING** There are two types of buses; a smaller shuttle type bus and a large city type bus. We took the small one to Positano and tried to take the large one back to Praiano and ended up waiting an hour and a half because the larger one travels the entire Amalfi Coast. Stick to the smaller one if you can. Both are the same price. There are a LOT of stairs, however, it seems like the entire coast is like that. The pool was definitely a necessity for our 4 night stay. Our stay was in June and it’s toasty. Was nice to cool down after laying out, or after a long walk home. The closest beach is about a 20 minute walk down and 30 minute walk back up. Overall it was very spacious with great amenities and architecturally beautiful!

Great place to stay in Praiano. A wonderfully appointed house, beautifully decorated and with a pool!. The views are spectacular as are the cool breezes that flow through the numerous windows. We LOVED this place.

We loved this place. Luigi and Virginia were great host. The villa and the view were spectacular. The host were easy to communicate with and extremely accommodating. We will be visiting again.

Where do I begin? Luigi, from helping us with our luggage, (sorry we had so much of it.)
Having soda, water, breakfast items for us, we even found pasta in the cupboard so we enjoyed a meal on the terrace. This family villa is absolutely breath talking. We took a day to lay pool side. There is a local bus just for Praiano. The Sita bus down the hill and a local bus that operates to and from Postiano. We took the local bus, its very easy to get in the morning, make sure you have change. We bought our tickets right on the bus for 1.80 euro one way to Postiano. Luigi's family owns the local ceramic factory in Postiano. Absolutely gorgeous tables and benches and more. The product hold
s up in any type of weather. You must stop in and check it out for yoursef. The washer machine was a wonderful thing to have and I was able to dry my clothes rooftop in a day. All the details, soaps, shampoo, slippers, the bedding and comfortably slept well. The churchbells were beautiful to listen to. Enjoying a bottle of wine on the terrace. Watching the kids play soccer at the courts below. There are steps to get here. Your taxi will stop at the square, then a few steps, long pathway and more steps down. Yes i was out of breath on day one. Day 3 it got easier and easier. Would I stay here again? Absolutely!! It was so much nicer than being in the other busier towns. We loved every minute of it. Priano is a lovely quiet town away from the maddening crowds in Positano, Amalfi etc, but those places are easy to get to from Villa Antica. Sitting on the wonderful patio, you hear nothing but local boys playing futbol after school on the courts below and church bells. Some great restaurants. Especially loved Il Pino and Kasai. Pirate bar was great for cocktails during the day. Lots of stairs but your heart and legs will thank you later! The apartment was nicely laid out and we were so grateful for the coffee and jams and other eats that were there waiting on arrival. Luigi is great and we had zero issues with the apartment. (Everything in working order!)
Views are as lovely as any other town along the coast. Great peaceful spot, we were very happy. Wish we’d stayed longer than five nights here!

Highly recommend staying at Villa Antica in Praiano! The villa and location were as picturesque as the listing portrays. Virginia and Luigi were very helpful and easy to communicate with - both through email and Whatsapp. The views from the balconies are spectacular!
The villa itself is absolutely gorgeous and the pool was perfect on the hot September days. The kitchen was everything we needed to prepare several convenient meals and the two markets nearby had everything we needed. We very much appreciated having a washing machine and A/C in the villa as several days there were quite warm.
We highly recommend the local restaurant Kasai for fantastic food, service and views - just call in advance for reservations during busy seasons. We rented a car from Naples and free parking was available not far from the villa. There are quite a few stairs to navigate getting to and from the villa, but we had no issues with them.
While in Praiano, we took a day trip to Pompeii which was very informative. We also booked an amazing, all-day private boat charter to Capri that picked us up right in the nearby Praiano Marina. Highly recommend this experience!
We would absolutely book another stay at Villa Antica and would highly recommend it as a beautiful vacation spot on the Amalfi Coast! It was a memorable trip all around and we're thankful this was our landing spot for most of it!

Our stay could not have been more perfect! Not only is the Amalfi coast stunning, this home is full of art boasted ceilings that will catch your attention the whole time you are there.
Luigi and his team are so welcoming and inviting. We also had a chance to visit his ceramic shop which was also incredibly beautiful.
If you are looking for a place on the Amalfi coast, I highly recommend booking here!

Villa Antica was exactly as advertised, the accommodations were wonderful and the view was spectacular! The owner’s son met us where our driver dropped us off and escorted us to the villa, making it easy to find our way. He even helped to carry the suitcases! We felt so fortunate to have a private pool to cool off on the hot summer days. I highly recommend this place!

We stayed for three nights with our two young sons. The pool was the perfect spot for them to swim and cool off. The location was very conveniently located to a few restaurants and the local bus which was a huge help getting around with the kids little legs. :) Would highly recommend. The host were very accommodating.

We had a wonderful stay at the property in Praiano. The villa is beautiful and the hosts left lots of goodies that were appreciated at arrival such as espresso, milk, cereal and OJ. We felt very at home in this peaceful town. It is difficult to get transportation so I would plan ahead and have car reservations. The hosts were very helpful with recommendations and bus routes.

My family absolutely loved Villa antica. It is even more beautiful in person. Luigi was so helpful before and during our stay. We were so happy to stay in praiano away from the busy tourist town of positano and amalfi. It was a quick bus ride to visit the other towns on the coast and so nice to be able to come back to a quiet and peaceful villa. There are great restaurants nearby and a market if you need anything. We loved this small village feel and being with the locals. Everyone was so friendly. We especially enjoyed hearing the church bells ringing throughout the day. The views from the Villa are breathtaking. We have teenage boys and they loved it. Having a private pool to ourselves was a bonus. Our favorite place to grab coffee and breakfast and even an afternoon snack was at gym tonic, it’s about a 10 minute walk. I would highly recommend this property

Although a challenge to get to ( which we knew in advance- no vehicle access and lots of steps) this is a sunning villa - well maintained inside and out with stunning views. Luigi was charming and helpful and easy to contact.

Villa Antica is a beautiful home in a coastal village away from the busy tourist areas. It is spacious and comfortable with panoramic views from the terraces and a refreshing pool.
The villa is located halfway up or down the hillside, so it took us a little while to get oriented to the narrow pathways and long staircases. For example, to get to the beach (la plaia) is 278 stair steps down to the main road. So, the return trip will include 23 flights of stairs going up. But, who's in a hurry on vacation.
Since we rented a car, we could take day trips to Napoli and other towns. Local driving is definitely a challenging experience on the Amalfi coast.
Luigi showed us a free parking area relatively close to the villa. Groceries as well as local restaurants are available in the town.
We explored hikes with indescribable scenery from Praiano and nearby Amalfi. The owners were very welcoming and responsive, and it was easy to communicate using WhatsApp.
We would recommend this home to adults who do not have problems with mobility.

This house and the owners are just purely amazing. Stayed 4 days with my best friends for my bachelorette and they made sure we were comfortable knew where the best places to go were and Luigi even came while we were out to clean the pool since it had stormed during our stay. Cannot recommend this property more. Definitely visit Mama’s restaurant and La Moressa for amazing views and eats. THANK YOU LUIGI & VIRGINIA for memories to last a life time

Property is amazing. Beautiful home with historic frescoes in most rooms. Stunning view, fantastic pool, great location (Praiano is wonderful and central to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello), and unmatched hospitality. Luigi was the absolute best host (kind, thorough, very helpful at every turn in terms of helping select restaurants, finding last minute transportation, telling us the rich history of his family’s home and even insisted on carrying our huge bags up the stairs to/from our car). Thank you Luigi. You made our trip even more memorable. Hope to return and will definitely stay here again.

This is a beautiful property in Priamo with a lot of outdoor space. Close to bus stop, market, and restaurants. Luigi and Victoria are very responsive to questions and very accommodating. Quiet refuge from Positano but easy to get everywhere from the villa. Grazie mille!

I really did enjoy my stay in Praiana as it was far less touristy than towns such as Positano. Although Villa Antica is positioned in a slightly out of the way location, it is well worth staying there there.
Luigi's son met us when we arrived and kindly took us there to ensure that we knew where to go. He showed us around and explained everything which was really helpful. The villa itself was lovely and provided a really relaxing atmosphere.
I particularly enjoyed the outdoor space on two levels. Looking out to the views each day was incredible and the pool was an added bonus.
I will definitely look back on this holiday with fond memories and thoroughly recommend it as a stunning holiday location.

We loved Villa Antica and found it quaint, well tended to and the property owners prompt and responsive. We had been advised not to get a car, which was a significant issue for us, as the significant amount of stairclimbing, inconsistency of public transit and lack of taxis made getting around very difficult. We would not return without booking a vehicle. The town itself is charming, quiet and we had several excellent meals. We ultimately decided to simply enjoy the villa and its pool, which were lovely. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the villa, but would advise being clear about what you hope to do while in Praiano because any amount of travel will require transportation.

Overall this is a delightful place to spend a holiday. We were here for 10 days and it provided us with a great base both for visiting sights in the region and as a place to chill on our ‘days off’.
The location is magnificent, the villa is attractive, a good size and mostly well maintained. The outside areas (pool and terraces) are exceptional with lovely garden furniture from the local ceramic factory. Inside, the villa is clean with everything you need.
A couple of things could be improved and, in this price range, should be. The bathrooms are in need of a refresh. The upstairs shower cubicle has erratic plumbing and is way too small, even for slim people. The downstairs bath is a bit worn. The sofa in the living room is uncomfortable and the cushions keep sliding forward. The internet speed is poor; we weren’t using it heavily for streaming. Simple day to day planning with Google Maps could be painful and there’s no excuse in 2022 for poor internet.

The Villa was well maintained and Luigi the host was extremely helpful! He cleaned pool everyday, help with restaurants and taxi and was alway just a text away. Luigi even dropped off a birthday cake for me!
There are many steps around town but the location is near everything. Make sure you stop at the ceramic store in town that he and his family operate. Excellent !

Perfect Amalfi coast villa
I can't say enough good things about this villa. It was clean, spacious, and GORGEOUS. Having the pool to come back to after climbing a million stairs every day was incredible. You have everything you need to cook meals in the kitchen, and wonderful restaurants close by if you don't want to (we loved M'ama, Kasai, and Il Pirata). The hosts were lovely and available for any needs. It was also great to have laundry on site. Praiano itself is much quieter and more authentic than Positano and we definitely felt it was the right pick for us. Loved our stay and would love to come back someday!

Praiano
This property was absolutely incredible. The view was absolutely breathtaking and our favorite thing was to drink coffee together on the balcony every morning. Praiano was more quiet and not so populated like the other towns. Bus transportation was easy if you wanted to go to the Amalfi Coast or Praiano. We didn’t really feel the need to leave our villa much. It had everything we needed. The host was amazing and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay, learning about the culture and exploring this beautiful country.

Honeymooner’s Paradise
I cannot express how absolutely wonderful our stay at Luigi’s place was. The villa was stunning, with multiple excellent terraces with fantastic views. The bus station is nearby which made traveling around the coast very easy. Luigi was extremely helpful and communicative with check-in and helped us arrange a driver when we needed to check-out. Will absolutely be planning to return and book again at this villa. We loved our stay and it was probably our best vacation yet!

The best!!!
Luigi and Virginia own a slice of life that beckons back to a time when Italy was not overrun with tourists. This beautiful villa is retired to a day decades ago, while still affording an absolutely beautiful villa. The tile is beyond wonderful. The location is old world Italy. The villa is quiet and situated in old Italy that is hard to find but easy to appreciate. This is a must-stay villa.

Wonderful place. However, hot water didn’t last for all of us to get showers. A lot of steps , you get use to them and great cardio workout while enjoying Italian food
