The room was very quiet and comfortable with lovely high ceilings. It was at the back and facing the pool area which kept the street noise down. In-room furniture was very comfortable. It’s a well renovated 1940’s hotel with a vintage design theme.

We understand it’s the low time of year with few guests, but the breakfast buffet was quite random. One day average, one day no buffet???, one day excellent. Service was also hit and miss. We had examples of good service, but more often service was disinterested or distracted.

We have been travelling Thailand and Vietnam for 3.5 weeks and have stayed in lovely hotels but this was by far the most exceptional. it’s a beautiful place, decor really nice. Everything spotlessly clean. Staff absolutely exceptional. From Porter to receptionists to bar staff, restaurant staff and manager. We were looked after so well-a genuine warmth in everyone working here. We had the most delicious meal in the restaurant-it is expensive relatively speaking in Vietnam but it was so worth the extra money spent. it was haute cuisine. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough. We do hope to come back to Vietnam and we would make a trip to Haiphong just to stay here.

Beautiful building, fantastic restaurant, delightful live acoustic music, next to museum, great room, great food!

Staff seemed not to know much about the area

Very helpful reception staff went out of their way to accommodate. Gorgeous pool area. Loved the hotel bar and their high end speakers. Best cocktails.

Old bed creaked to every movement so sleep was hit and miss. Nothing to do with the hotel but crossing the street in Cat Bi is a risky business.

Wonderfully helpful staff (Thomas especially) who aided booking whatever we needed. Excellent location, near cafes, restaurants and 10 minutes from the train station. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of dishes.
