We chose this property because we knew my grandkids would spend most of their time in the pool. Unfortunately, the water in the pool was super cloudy when we arrived. The host told us it was perfectly fine because the dipstick he used to test the water said that all of the chemicals were in the proper ranges. He also assured us that it would clear up overtime. By the end of our four-day stay, it was still hard to see your feet in the shallow end. The little kids' room was also not up to the standard of the rest of the place. The grandkids ended up sleeping with their parents in the adult rooms. rooms.

Everything about this home is designed for comfort, convenience, and family fun. Literally everything that you need for a restful and fun getaway, from comfy beds with linens and towels provided, to chef's kitchen with stocked pantry and top of the line appliances, to game room with ping pong, pool table, foosball, electric piano, and gym, to the giant flat screen TV with Sonos sound and tons of viewing options and lounger chairs. Set back 400 feet off a country road, the grounds were lovely and butterflies our frequent companions. Brian the host was very responsive; when we asked if the home had a high chair, he went out and bought one. For three famiies with small children, parents, and grandparents, the space was flexible and roomy and the large dining room table seated all nine of us. One of the bedrooms is in a different wing from the other bedrooms which enabled the grandparents a little bit more privacy which was very much appreciated. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend.

We had a great stay at the home. The pool and spa were amazing - but with the home being very tech-savy, it would have been helpful if there were some more detailed instructions on how to use all the home devices in the house manual, as the owners were not always readily available on the phone. But overall it was a great time for all of us!

Great house in a great location! The house is so well-stocked, the hosts have thought of every detail. Our kids loved the pool, the hot tub, the giant TV and the basketball net. Very comfortable family home. Would definitely recommend, and definitely return.

Beautiful property and quiet backyard

Our family of 10 had a great time in Brian's beautiful home. Loved the pool, hot tub, and sauna. Dining room table is spectacular—in size, graciousness, and view of the pool. Updated living room is lovely. Everyone enjoyed the reclining chairs in the TV room. Beds were comfortable.
Only issue for me was that kitchen cupboards were overcrowded. Not enough space to access pots, trays, etc. easily.

Loved the outdoor setting, with large pool, hottub, fire pit and beautiful scenery. Kitchen was well stocked, including a pantry. The bedrooms were very comfortable and nicely furnished. The owner was very responsive and helped get us settled, checked in to make sure the pool was taken care of. We had a great week.

Many aspects of this house worked well for our small family reunion. The pool was a great place to play and cool off, the games room offered hours of entertainment, and the kitchen, dining, and movie areas accommodated us well. The main bedrooms were well appointed and comfortable, and one of our group slept on the sofa in the living room and found it comfy.
There are a few aspects of this house that are not clear from the pictures, so I want to help future guests translate what they are seeing. One bedroom is over the games room. It has the chair lift going up the stairs in the photos. This room has no door so you can hear all the noise in the kitchen and dining room (so bring ear plugs). The kids room is listed as 3 beds, but there are 4 mattresses on the floor.
As an update to the posting and previous reviews--the horses are now off-site. The owners were gracious and happy to arrange a visit and pony rides.
The reason this is 4 stars instead of 5 is the kids room, which is an alcove off one bedroom (so the kids must go through that person's bedroom). The owners have assured me they are going to do a deep cleaning based on the condition we found it in. Be aware that the ceiling is very steep, there's limited electricity (overhead lights do not work, one floor lamp and only one power strip for plugging in anything), and it does have openings to the unfinished attic space.

Brian and Mel were very accommodating Pool was great and home had everything you needed. 4 Bedrooms were great. The bedroom listed for kids really wasn’t something to use for young children. Really just an additional space off a bedroom The horses were not on property anymore but Mel had us over to their home for horse rides We had 6 adults and 4 children under 4 years old and there was plenty of space Beautiful area

Great outdoor are for large groups. Heated pool and hot tub right outside home. Terrific large screen tv and surround sound. Upper bedroom for children has low A-frame type ceiling and not much room for luggage

The grounds were beautiful. The horses were wonderful. The house could have been cleaned more thoroughly. There was ongoing construction work - we had been warned about that. There was a leak in the master bath shower - the owner offered to have it fixed while we were there. In the middle of 1 night, an alarm went off, seemingly from a decorative small waterfall device. We could not figure out how to turn it off. We called and messaged the owner, who did not respond. It stopped after we had been up for about an hour. The next day, the owner was unapologetic. In communications after our stay, I suggested that the owner give us a partial refund - he did not respond.

All in all, a great stay but these are a few things I think other renters may want to be aware of.

My friends and I rented this home for a girls’ weekend. Couldn’t have picked a better house for what we needed and wanted. The home is clean, spacious, and well supplied. The property is gorgeous. There is multiple seating areas for big groups of people both indoors and outdoors. The hosts were so welcoming and easy to work with. Brian and Marielis made us a delicious dinner (for booking a 3 night stay). The horses on the property were an extra fun addition. We plan to be back again soon! Highly recommend.

My friends and I rented this home for a girls’ weekend. Couldn’t have picked a better house for what we needed and wanted. The home is clean, spacious, and well supplied. The property is gorgeous. The house was spacious with a ton of places to sleep, and the surround sound within the house and around the pool was amazing! There are also beautiful wineries around the area so if you are looking for a weekend getaway, look no further! Also, the horses are so cute :)

It has many great amenities as listed---pool, hot tub, game room, surround sound music, movie theater-type media room, etc. There were a few days of stormy weather, so it was nice to have space and activities inside the house for both kids and adults to enjoy.
Brian and Mariella prepared a lovely dinner for us upon arrival and showed us around the house. They live in the home, so there were a few quirks here and there in terms of getting things to work / how they work. Also, we moved a lot of their decorations (a lot of beautiful glass) out of the way for fear that the kids may accidentally break something. We fed Mariella's horses and let them out to graze daily, which the kids (and adults) really enjoyed!
Initial communication was non-existent as none of my emails with questions were answered, which was a bit of a challenge from a planning perspective. However, upon arrival, the Winthrop's were very helpful and welcoming.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would return. Thank you Brian and Mariella!

There is plenty to do outdoors during warm weather (pool, volleyball and other lawn games, BBQ, etc) and lot for cold or rainy weather (hottub, game room, fire pit, movie night on a GIANT TV). The kitchen works well for prepping large and small meals and has pretty much all the equipment and spices you would need to make a great meal.
The owners are lovely and very responsive. Also, the sailboat trip and seafood dinner were definitely a highlight of our trip.
If you are undecided between this property or a different property, the sailboat trip and dinner along with the extensive entertainment options on the property (86 inch TV, game room) really set this rental apart from the others.

Excellent Home Rental in Litchfield County
I lived in Brian's home for a 6 week period and had an excellent stay. The property is as advertised and the area is beautiful. Brian and his wife Mariella are wonderful, kind, gracious hosts who went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and well fed!
This house is their primary residence so it comes with some quirks that may not be typical of a traditional rental. For example, the house is an active farm with the owners' horses in the back that you can help take care of! The owners sometimes have handymen on site helping manage the farm or restocking the hay.
One thing I loved was how well stocked the pantry and kitchen are! I found those to be of immense use as I learned how to cook and became a pretty proficient chef in their excellent kitchen!
The jacuzzi, pool, sauna, Japanese toilets, and awesome showers are also nice touches.

We have a terrific time at Brian's and Mariella's house AND their offer to cook dinner (they own a catering business) was the highlight of our long weekend. Highly recommend this house and their lovely owners!

Amazing chefs
We had some trouble initially getting a response from the owners after using the message function on the app but once we got in touch and even more so in person they were great hosts. They got us some breakfast provisions for when we arrived and we also hired them to cook us dinner (for 7) for Saturday night. The dinner blew us away. We are from all over and a bit snobbish about restaurants but the dinner was really spectacular (and very reasonably priced). I highly recommend to anyone staying at the property. Our hosts were also lovely and affable. One note. The master bedroom has a water bed. Some people love, some people hate so thought worth noting.

Home away from Home.
Our stay at Brian’s home was great overall. Their home is beautiful and is great for entertaining. They have a beautiful kitchen and beautiful property. The horses are very friendly and their home feels very private. Their movie theater is a fun place to relax with friends and even play some board games. The bedrooms are nice sizes with their own bathrooms which is awesome. They offered whatever groceries they had in the fridge which was great for breakfast. Brian and his wife are very nice and welcoming people. Would definitely stay again.
