We booked the apartment (6 people) for a long stay (12 days) in August. The apartment is very nice and new, with a beautiful view on the coast and the city harbour. It is well equipped, except for the kitchen which has no proper pan for a 6 people meal. I find the apartment very comfortable and well located: it is just outside the city old harbour, but you can go there by foot (10 min) to find all the essencial services (supermarket, market, bus station, fuel station, post office, wine cellar...). The city (Câmara de Lobos) is not too big and chaotic (like Funchal) and has a very nice harbour. It is advisable to have a car for a more comfortable move on the island, but it's not a must. The alternatives are the buses and taxies you can find near the harbour.

We booked the apartment (6 people) for a long stay (12 days) in August. We were supposed to arrive the 9th of August and to pick up the keys in the late morning. Unfortunately, we experienced some flight issues and we were forced to arrive on the next day. Of course, I told the owner about our problems and he offered to give us the keys the next day, in the night of our arrival. We set a meeting point on the road between the airport and the apartment. When we landed I called the apartment owner to notify our arrival. The strange thing is that, when we went to the meeting point to pick up the keys, nobodies showed! I found it very strange because I called him some minutes before. I tried to call and text him, but nothing happened. No one answered. We didn't know what to do. After a while I received a notification from Booking.com, with the cancellation of the booking, made by the owner! I really couldn't understand the reason of such a behaviour! So we find ourselves without a place to stay in the middle of the night. Thus, we tried to have a short, but uncomfortable rest in our cars, waiting for the morning to come. In the morning, we phoned again the owner without success. Then, we called Booking.com customer service in order to find a solution. The only one we find was to make a new booking on the same apartment, because it was almost impossible to find a cheap alternative for a long stay. After an hour I received the call from a woman who works for the owner. She came and gave us the apartment keys. It was very kind, but she didn't gave us any explanation on what happened! She simply didn't know and she was just ordered to give us the key. Even today, I really cannot understand why the owner behaved in that way!
