A Beautiful historical homely apartment in a charming area.
We enjoyed walks to the shore; explored steep stairways and paths. Short car journey to many of the island's attractions. Hosts very friendly and generous with facilities provided.

This property was very large with lovely period features such as large windows with shutters and high ceilings. It does not feel like a typical basement flat! The property has been updated recently and there was no smell of damp throughout the week. As it is August we had no need to use any of the electric heaters or heating system in the house. The outdoor space was ample in size, we had no need to use the table due to persistent rain this week!
The children enjoyed the range of toys and games although we spent each day out and about exploring the island.
The parking wasn’t the easiest for a large vehicle but with practice my husband mastered the technique of reversing down a steep and narrow driveway.
We made good use of the washing machine and dryer which was a great asset to this property as was the large fridge freezer which was much bigger than a typical holiday rental.
The bathrooms were well fitted but required the doors left open all day/night to fully clear steam. The en-suite bathroom was really only used during the night by my son as that area is under the stairs and very dark.
Overall we enjoyed our holiday and would recommend the property to future guests.
4.1
Beautiful period property however in need of updating as a lot of fitted furniture is falling apart and the en-suite not fit for purpose and an unhealthy environment due to the high degree of mould emulating from the en-suite into the main bedroom anyone suffering from respiratory conditions could potentially get really sick. A fair walk to the beachfront which is quite pleasent but not suited for people with walking ailments due to the steep inclines and number of stairs. The courtyard is quite small and not very well maintained. As a note the owners went to long lengths to list all items and a price for each to replace but did not mention all the door handles falling off, windows that could not close, Kitchen cupboard doors and drawers that may at any moment fall apart not due to the renters fault.

Lovely, spacious, well-equipped holiday home. Quiet neighbourhood but only a short walk to Ventnor.

Where do I start? The overall smell of the house is a constant damp smell. Upon opening the kitchen cupboards all plates, glasses and mugs smelt damp and had to be washed before using them. The frying pan had mould growing on it, needless to say we didn’t use it. In fact we ended up buying our own baking trays as the ones provided were disgusting.
Yes the property is old and we knew that when we booked. It’s attractive from the outside and large rooms inside. The double bedroom was so damp and stank clothes almost felt wet in the morning. The wardrobes in every room were unusable due to the smell so we had clothes hanging round the rooms and in the hall. The upstairs room had no main light either, just lamps that weren’t plugged in.
The en-suite toilet didn’t work when we were there so we were all using the main bathroom.
The lounge was big but the carpet and rug smelt foul from the rising damp.
After one night there we tried looking for alternative accommodation as we were so unhappy however, it was going to cost too much to move so we had to grin and bear it. For me, it ruined my holiday and there is no way I’d stay there again!

Basement apartment with one upstairs bedroom and two on basement level. The sitting room was large and comfortable.
The double bedroom was adequate. The ensuite was unused except to go to the bathroom during the night. This was dark, damp and smelly. We used the main bathroom which was spacious. Again though there appears to be a damp issue as the air extractor is set to be constantly on. The positive is the underfloor heating. The kitchen was adequate. The communication was poor with the property manager. There was an issue with the vrbo site deleting urls. I messaged the manager about this with no satisfactory response. It was only when the owner called me on the day we were due to arrive that our question was answered. The courtyard area is nice and private but poorly maintained.

Would happily stay there again and fully recommend.

Very happy with the house, a lovely location and a short walk to ventnor beach. The house has its with own secure courtyard and inside is well decorated and furnished. The washer , dryer and dishwasher were a pleasant surprise. All rooms spacious, plenty of sheets, towels etc. Toys in kids room nice touch, tv in living room has bt box . Whole family enjoyed our stay, just a couple of small gripes, you can hear people and dogs walking about , and voices from apartment above the house and the welcome book has a very comprehensive breakage price itinerary (almost military like) which put is on edge! Its starts off we want to make your stay enjoyable.... but felt a little lack of personal type welcome and although it reccomends some take aways etc, comparing to previous welcome books we have encountered this one was lacking details, and alot more.formal and direct. Dont let this put you off a stay though.

On the plus side, this property is spacious and well-furnished with facilities that are a bit above average for this kind of holiday let. It was clean and tidy. It's in a good location and is a great base for exploring the island.
However, there were two drawbacks which spoilt my holiday: first and foremost, the damp, which was only noticeable in the main bedroom, but made it an uncomfortable place to sleep; and secondly the lack of any real outside area to relax in. The 'suntrap' in the photo is really just a tiny space outside the front door and is not an attractive place to spend any time. As other reviewers have said, the house has an enormous garden, but this is reserved solely for the owners - even the bit that the holiday apartment overlooks.

I gave 3 stars for the accuracy of the online description of the property as the description and the photos doesn't do it justice. The property is a beautiful old stone house and the flat is much larger than the impression you get from the photos. The property has lots of lovely features the kitchen feels like a large farmhouse kitchen very suitable for eating in with friends. It is mainly on the ground floor so as others have said a little dark but we expected that. One slight criticism as lovely as the little courtyard is it would be worth for the owners to consider giving the rental the little bit of lawn in front of kitchen/living room which would add to the experience. I also gave 4 star for the check in. We were sent some great directions and on the whole it was easy to find and get into the flat however a meet and greet tour explaining how things worked would have been useful and given us the opportunity to ask about the surrounding area, where to walk the dogs etc. Be aware that the surrounding area is very hilly which might not suit some. But overall we were grateful for the extra exercise. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, we had a wonderful week in the property and we would recommend staying here.

Spent a great week here and the property provided us everything we hoped for and wanted. Very quiet/private and easy walking distance to Bonchurch and Ventnor centers. Property itself is well equipped loved the balance between original features and more modern.

We had a very pleasant stay. The location was a ten minute walk to Ventnor. Easy walk to Bonchurch beach, which was a lovely beach for our dog to walk on.
The apartment was very clean and spacious, big enough for our family of six and dog.

The property was nice.... Did what it says on the box!
The sitting room and kitchen were very nice and spacious. The main bathroom was nicely done except the door handle was very loose and we were a bit worried it might come off in our hands. The ensuite shower room was handy but could not close or lock the door.... So could not use if someone else in the bedroom! The whole place was a bit damp.... Probably because it was lower than the road and no sun getting in.
We did enjoy our stay and property walking distance to Ventnor which was good.

Spacious property
This rental was spacious and furnished with everything that would be needed for your stay. It was very central to many attractions, villages, beaches, shopping, pubs and restaurants. We particularly liked the large kitchen with a big table where a family could sit round and have breakfast. We took two small dogs with us who had great fun. It was definitely value for money, but if we could fault anything, we didn’t feel it was particularly clean on the floor areas hence the lower rating

Lovely apartment
Well equipped apartment with plenty of room for our multi generational family holiday. Owners easily contactable to answer any queries you may have. Newly refubished bathroom was great. Travel cot and high chair provided for the little one. The apartment is cool as it is at the base of a large house, the weather was hot while we were there. The large kitchen easily accommodated the whole family to sit and eat together without the feeling you were crowded. The courtyard in the morning is sunny, a lovely quiet area to relax in. Did intend to try a BBQ but ran out of time!
Generally the surrounding area is hilly with some lovely local walks, only 15 minute walk into Ventnor. Short walk into Bonchurch village with its lovely ancient church and access to the coastal path. Recommend the walk through the landslip to smugglers haven for tea and cake.
There is only off road parking for one car and although there is parking on the road the lanes are narrow.
Thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Really great location
The property was extremly spacious and had everything we needed.
The location was perfect, only 15 min walk to the beavh and town. Ventnor was definitly the best location on the island. Fantastic beavh and steep hill cove was definitly worth the walk.
The only reason not getting 5 stars is because the apartment was a tiny bit damp - due to it being at the bottom of a big house. The bathroom not having a vent made it worse. Tje bathroom also neds some TLC. Neither of things would be enough to stop us visiting again.
Overall fab.

Lovely location
This property is in a great location. The walk into Ventnor town and to the beach takes about 10 minutes. It is hilly but a pretty walk. The town has a good range of shops, cafes, restaurants and a couple of small supermarkets. The beach was clean and not too busy on the days we were there. There is a little harbour where you can buy crab and chips and other locally caught fish.
Our arrival at the cottage was quite stressful as the key wasn’t in the key safe so we had no way of getting in. The owner brought it round within an hour and a half but we had an anxious time wondering how long it would be before our message was picked up. The owner always got back to us to answer queries and thoughtfully sent us a message to let us know it was Ventnor carnival and fireworks on the evening we arrived.
The cottage, which is a self contained appartment on two floors within a larger house, was spacious and well-equipped. The kitchen had a large dining table which I would think would comfortably seat 8 people. There was a large fridge with a decent sized freezer compartment, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier and plenty of crockery and utensils. It looks out on to a pretty garden. It’s a garden that belongs to the main house so you can’t access it but it’s a nice outlook. There is also a small private courtyard for the tenants’ use which is nice and sunny in the mornings. We were disappointed with the main bathroom. The window had been sealed up and there was no extractor fan. This made for a damp room and unfortunately there was a lot of black mould around the bath and two little mushrooms grew on the tiles whilst we were there. The en suite bathroom did have an extractor fan and there was no mould but unfortunately the door didn’t shut properly. The lounge was large with comfortable sofas and chairs and some games and DVDs; a really nice room to relax in.
