Dan the host was very responsive to my questions. The cottage was amazing along with the view of Flanders Pond. I will definitely be going back in the future. Also the cottage was immaculate and comfortable. It was very well stocked (above and beyond). I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone!

My family and I stayed in this cabin last week and we had a wonderful time. The lake was beautiful and the guys enjoyed fishing. We all enjoyed sitting out on the back deck and just relaxing. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

Had a great stay here! Loved the location being a bit of the beaten path, and away from the crowds in Bar Harbor or Ellsworth. The proximity to the Schoodic Peninsula was a nice treat, and we really enjoyed exploring Winter Harbor and the Scoodic side of Acadia National Park!

We loved this cottage! The house was clean and comfortable, the lake was beautiful, and lots to do. We went hiking, fishing, kayaking, and played lots of board games. Dan is a great host, and easy to communicate with. We highly recommend this property!

Dan was a very responsive and proactive host. Thank you so much for the organized info on the house, area and attractions. The house was very clean, with a well supplied kitchen, extra linen, nice grill and great porch. Loved the bird feeders. Pond was lovely with great sunsets. Thank you again.

We had the most wonderful stay in Zephyrus Cottage. The cottage was clean, tastefully decorated and fully-equipped. We enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding and sitting on the dock taking in the beautiful sunsets and views of Schoodic Mountain. Day trips were spent hiking and dining in Bar Harbor/Acadia, hiking Schoodic Mountain and visiting the Tidal Falls Preserve where our girls were able to hold starfish and crabs and watch seals swimming closely. We had a very hard time leaving, and hope to book again soon!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage!! The open area was great for dinner and conversation as well as hanging out and watching the many birds and squirrels. The cottage is located in a quiet area about 50 minutes from Acadia and an hour from Bangor (Utopia restaurant is totally worth the drive). Although it was too cold to swim during our trip, the pond was very beautiful and peaceful. Overall, a wonderful place to stay!!

Zephyrus was a wonderful place to stay. We were there 9/24-10/1. Weather was great. Being on Flanders Pond was soothing and healing. Hearing the Loon in the morning was magical.
We visited all over Acadia, including Schoodic Peninsula, and loved every part of it. Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Southeast Harbor, Seal Harbor…and all the other harbors were lovely.
Would love to go back to Zephyrus!
Highly recommend it. And Dan Bunker was great to deal with! Thank you Dan.

The house was very clean and matched the description. The lake/pond was beautiful. You could hear the loons calling to each other every night. The view of Schoodic Mountain was awesome. We knew before we arrived that it was a 40/45 minute drive to Acadia park, so it was not a surprise, but I wish it had been a little closer. I would consider the location centrally located to visit other sites, as well, not just the park. There is a lot to do near the house. The reversing falls are only 10 minutes away and very cool. Dan, our host, was very quick to respond to my questions, although I did not need to contact him during our stay because everything was fine. Overall, our stay here was wonderful. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Eight of us (4 adults and 4 children) enjoyed an excellent stay at the lakefront cottage. The house is well stocked and maintained. The children had a brilliant time playing and swimming in the lake.
It was our first time in Maine, the local area is beautiful and we particularly enjoyed being in very close proximity to Acadia National Park.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property and will likely return in the future.

Serenity now...
Thanks Dan! This home was just what the doctor ordered...away from the hustle bustle of Bar Harbor, nature all around, beautiful lake, loved it! Dan is super organized, everything was detailed about the home and he even supplied a nice visitors guide with suggestions for restaurants/hikes/etc. The home has everything you'll need, and has a well-equipped kitchen that we really loved. If we make it back to the area, will definitely stay here again.
Cheers,
The Kauffmans

Perfect Maine Getaway
My husband and two kids enjoyed our time at Zephyrus Cottage so much. It was our first visit to Maine and the house proved to be a great home base for our exploration of the area, from Acadia National Park to Schoodic to Bar Harbor. Sure, there was a bit of driving involved, but the semi-remote location of the house provided a great setting for relaxation and we enjoyed swimming, reading, and cooking at the house.
The house itself was the perfect size for our family of four, but it certainly wouldn't feel crowded with the addition of a few more for larger groups. We were pleased with the amenities provided for doing laundry, as well as the provision of basic kitchen supplies provided by Dan and possibly other guests, and we added some unopened pantry staples to the mix. There is a small store a few miles away for basic supplies as you come into town, but we found ourselves passing through Ellsworth every couple of days and often stopped to buy additional groceries. Of note, be sure to stop at Marden's in Ellsworth for great deals on all things Maine! Prices are about 2/3 of those in the shops in Bar Harbor.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Maine and Zephyrus Cottage played a big part. Thanks for sharing your lovely home, Dan!

Beautiful property great location
We enjoyed our family stay. The cottage is a short drive to Acadia National Park .. Schoodic Point. A must for sure! The Drive to Bar Harbor was about an hour. It is surely less tourists near Sullivan and it is beautiful. We saw a lot of wildlife near cottage.

A slice of heaven
We were impressed by the fact that the property description and pictures were very accurate, and not overstated.
The house we so very comfortable, truly one of the highlights of our week in Maine.
Beds were comfy. Kitchen had a great layout for eating and playing games plus it was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The lake view and deck were incredible. The birds, chipmunks and squirrels were fun to watch and listen to while relaxing and taking in the natural beauty all around.
At first we couldn't understand why there was no TV in the living room, within a day we realized we did not need since the view was so awesome.

Quaint Cottage perfect for two couples
The cottage is beautifully done. Open floor plan with a wall of windows and wrap around porch to enjoy all day long. The lay out in perfect for two couples. We were pleasantly surprised that the main bath had a shower as well as the second floor, making this just perfect for couples to enjoy their space as well as gather together during the day. Located about 45 min. from Bar Harbor.

Relaxing Getaway!
We had a great time! The house was beautiful, extremely clean, and the kitchen was well set up. The lake was beautiful, and we enjoyed sitting on the dock with a glass of wine and watching the sunsets at night. Great proximity to the coast, particularly the Schoodic Peninsula. There are neighbors who are pretty close on one side, but with the exception of some barking dogs, it was generally pretty quiet. Thank you for a great vacation!

Downeast Magic
I don't know what I can write that will do justice to this wonderful property! The cottage itself was roomy and clean, and with four adults, a teenager, and three kids, we never felt cramped or on top of each other. The mountain views from the dock were the perfect place to drink coffee and listen for the sounds of loons and moose in the area, and we all enjoyed kayaking and swimming in the pond. The location is remote, which adds to the experience, since we wanted to get away and unplug. We spend rainy evenings playing board games the owner so graciously provided. Bar harbor is about a 45 minute drive away, but the views during the drive made it seem effortless. Tons of great local restaurants around and the lobster pounds were incredible! Thank you for sharing your home with us! Highly recommend! We would love to come back in the future!

Little Corner of Paradise in Maine
If you are looking for a place to recharge your batteries in a peaceful and beautiful location, Dan's property is the place to go. Ideally located at Flanders Pond where one can swim, go boating (if you have or rent a boat/kayak/canoe), and enjoy stellar sunsets, the cottage provides all modern amenities, extremely comfortable beds, and a lot of bird feeders that make your mornings and every day on the deck joyful. The only thing about which one should be aware is that there is limited cell phone reception (although a landline is at your disposal) and limited band width for the internet, which will help you truly disconnect from the rest of the world. We found the location quite convenient to access all of the different options within Acadia National Park (within 30-45 minutes) and the coast. Dan was a fantastic host and responded to any inquiry within minutes. We had a blast and cannot wait for another opportunity to return to this little corner of paradise.

Relaxing getaway with a beautiful view
The place was a breath of fresh air after being stuck at home for almost 6 months. Dan was a gracious host leaving an informative book of things to do and places to eat. The home is clean and spacious. I loved the seat by the window where you could watch the birds at the feeder. The deck provided hours of serenity and gorgeous views of the pond. We watched eagles soar overhead and did a little fishing from the dock. I would highly recommend this place.

A haven during Covid
Our 3- generation family had a delightful 3 weeks at this cottage. We ventured to Acadia a couple of times, taking advantage of the reduced crowds, but spent most of our time swimming, kayaking, and playing games at the camp.
We have rented other camps in Maine; this was the cleanest, most comfortable, best stocked one we've found. And the pond, although small, is clean and the swimming area good for adults as well as our 5- and 8- year old beginner- swimmer grandchildren.
The owner, Dan, provides lots of information about the area, and quickly responded to our questions during our stay.
We were sad to leave this lovely spot.

A truly special place...
Zephyrus is incredible. The cottage itself is wonderful. The great room was perfect for our family to all just hang out, do puzzles, make meals or just relax gazing out the myriad windows opening to the woods and pond. The shelves are stocked with a varied selections of books and games for all ages, upstairs and down. A decent selection of DVD movies are upstairs if anyone does need a movie night. The kitchen is great, very modern and very well stocked for cookware and utensils. We weren't left wanting for a thing. The bedrooms were good sizes and very comfy. Ample storage for our clothes, etc. The onsite laundry was reallllly appreciated! The upper balcony is a treat for morning beverages! And you kind of have to have a lobster feast on the deck! Maine perfection! They really have done a great job of making sure all your questions are answered in the house guide book. There is abundant (& quite charming) info about local spots for seafood (HIGHLY recommend Tracey's Seafood, just a few minutes away on Rte 1!), and things to do in the area and on MDI and a really nice bit of backstory from the owners about their history and ties to the area. It really added to the warmth knowing the care that went into making this as special for us as it is for the hosts. The location was exquisite. Just a short (~5 miles) from Rte. 1 but tucked away on the absolutely charming Flanders Pond. You get some incredible swimming in some of the cleanest water you could ask for. The area in front of the cottage is shallow for quite a ways from shore so it is perfect for youngsters who are developing their water skills and those of us who are water pros! The sunsets are sublime. The cottage and dock face west so it is a nightly bit of wonder. If you are lucky you'll even get a downeast thunder & lightning show! The area is pretty remote so expect meager cell service. The wifi did give good connectivity for messaging and it was really nice to be so "off grid" but be able to tap in if needed. Our host, Dan, was super responsive with any questions and really helpful. They put put a lot of love into this little slice of heaven and it really shows. We were really sad to have to leave and absolutely will be coming back. The memories we made here, especially for my kiddos endlessly playing in the pond, will last a lifetime. So good. Soooooo good. Thank you again!!

Best place to reconnect ❤️
This was a beautiful home. Out there with nature and peaceful. Has all the amenities needed for a family to get away. Dan gave us a name to rent kayaks and the they were great too. Was like a 50 min ride to bar harbor. But there is small closer towns closer by. Dan had games, books and puzzles on had. Spacious deck to hang out on too.
The water around the dock is rocky and shallow. Definitely should wear water shoes.
We definitely will go back again to stay there.

Relaxing Vacation
The house was pretty much as described. The waterfront was not set up well for swimming. You had to slide off the edge of the dock into about 3 feet of water, then try to pull yourself back up to get out, or walk back on slippery rocks. Once in, the water was fine. Other than that , it was very nice.

The home is absolutely beautiful. It sits very close to the lake and has it's own dock. This was the type of vacation that allowed us to do as much or as little as we wanted. We were right in the middle. We took some day trips or stayed at the house and enjoyed the lake.
Dan was the perfect host. He provided a visitors guide with lots of suggestions in things to do and see. He also provided fabulous suggestions on where to eat.
