We have just spent 2 wonderful weeks in Richard's lovely annex, and we only have praise for the stay.
The annex is the perfect size for 2 adults. The annex is positioned a bit in the shade, which means it doesn't get too hot, or at least it cools down quickly. We were there for 2 weeks in July with around 30˚C every day. Often, it was enough to create circulation by opening 2 small windows (equipped with mosquito nets) to keep it cool at night. Otherwise, it was possible to turn on the air conditioning.
Everything in the annex is chosen with a loving hand, from furniture and interior to the bed and bed linen, which are of the highest quality.
The pool area was lovely and the garden was truly beautiful.
We had most of our meals on the lovely terrace where we could seek shade under the pavilion. We spent many pleasant moments there eating, reading, playing cards, and just enjoying the special French nature and atmosphere that we value so much. If we didn't choose to cook ourselves, we went down to the town, where there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and bars, often with live music.
As a host, Richard is discreet but extremely friendly and helpful. It is very clear that he loves his beautiful place and takes good care of it.
We definitely want to come back another time.

We had a perfect stay at this residence due to the great location and owner Richard. Not only was everything clean and tidy, he's also a perfect host helping you with ordinary things, but also giving touristical tips and tricks for the neighbourhood. This combined with discretion when needed. Thanks Richard!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Immaculately kept property, lovely well kept gardens and swimming pool.
Every detail has been thought of and catered for. Richard is an excellent host and nothing is too much trouble. He was most helpful during our 4 night stay.
Location is very good for the town, restaurants and local buses.
Would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

If you visit the area, youll not find a more amazing and beautiful home. We fell in love with the house and the community. Right out side our door were cafes and restaurants, a farmers market with wonderful foods and vendors. We will likely make it a special trip to return.

Richard's gîte is a very comfortable, functional space in the scenic and interesting town of Vence. I was happy to be away from the noise and busy-ness of the coast, and appreciated the close proximity to shops and the town centre. Also appreciated the secure car parking, laundry facilities, and quiest neighbourhood. A great location from which to base cycling excursions. Finally, I was grateful for Richard's careful attentiveness as a host. Thanks Richard!

That’s what Richard and this cottage is all about. Everything, and I mean everything, is as we see in the photos. What we can’t see in the photos is the quality of the bed linens. The stairs to the bedroom could be difficult for some, but I’m 80 years old and managed fine. The garden is drop dead gorgeous. Richard is the perfect host. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The old section of Vence is a legitimate 15-minute walk. There are two supermarkets about a 10-minute walk, although the first 150 meters is very steep.. Vence has everything one would expect to find in a classic French town. Boulangerie, patisserie, specialty cheese, wine, charcuterie and butcher shops. If you don’t have a great time, it’ll be your fault.

Situated in walking distance of medieval Vence and easy driving distance to see the mountain villages inhabited in the past by Picasso, Matisse, Chagall and others. Our favourite Mediterranean visit was to Menton one hours drive from the property. The pool and garden a luxury. Mosquitos a pest in Sept/Oct. Otherwise a great place to stay including off street parking. Thank you Richard.

We were excited to come to this beautiful gite but never really imagined just how lovely, quaint and relaxing Richard’s place would be! It is luxuriously appointed, so beautifully decorated and was a joy to make this our home for a few days. We went out each day exploring, we walked to Vence each day and took the bus to St Paul de Vence (highly recommend) and picked up meat, cheese, foods from various shops, cooked each evening and played board games on the terrace by the pool. Richard was about to chat & ask questions if needed. We also didn’t have a car and managed perfect taking the bus /train from Villefranche. We have stayed in lots of beautiful places during our travels and Richard’s beautiful property and gite is now TOPS on our list. Book it now. Thank you Richard for sharing your beautiful property/gite with us.

Perfect little spot for a few days, Richard was more than helpful and it was a great location to explore the area.

Communication with host Richard was great from the start. Our flight out was delayed and it was touch and go whether we would be in time to pick up our hire car. Richard offered to come to Nice airport and collect us if necessary. Immediately took away worry and concern. This theme continued throughout our short stay.
The gite is small but plenty room for two with all the equipment and facilities you may require. Our host left us to make use of the terrace and the pool but was available if needed.
We wanted away from the busy coast but with easy access and Vence was the perfect location. The old part of Vence is lovely to explore with lots of restaurants. Plenty to see in the surrounding area and we enjoyed a few walks.
Recommended for two staying.

I enjoyed a very comfortable stay at the gîte. Richard was a great host, very welcoming and eager to offer help and advice. The property was very well equipped and the pool and garden were fantastic.
I would highly recommend this property. Vence is a good base for exploring the area.

The holiday home is situated on a large plot in the middle of Vence. Shopping facilities and restaurants in the old town are within walking distance. The small cottage is super equipped, lovingly furnished and offers every comfort you could wish for. Especially the air conditioning is a blessing in high summer.
The garden with the beautiful pool and the pergola is also a dream: very spacious and well-kept. We enjoyed sitting there and reading, with a view of flowers and palm trees.
The house is also a very good starting point for excursions to Nice, Antibes, Cannes or Grasse. And after returning, we could park our car in our own garage.
Also on the property is the house of the owner and host Richard. The communication before our arrival went smoothly and the welcome was very warm. Also during our entire stay, Richard was there for us - whenever we needed it - with help and advice.
Thank you very much for this great holiday, Richard! We can highly recommend a stay with you in Vence to everyone.

The accommodation lacked for nothing.
The pool was beautiful, which we had to ourselves virtually all the time.
The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was very welcome when it was hot.
The satellite tv was also a great addition .
The location is perfect for a short walk into Vence
Overall we enjoyed a first class holiday with Richard and Anne, who were without doubt perfect hosts .
Thoroughly recomended

We stayed about three weeks at Anne‘s and Richard‘s place and when the vacation was over we nearly refused to leave. The place is gorgeous and quiet and the neighborhood is calm. Anne and Richard were very nice, friendly and helpful but also discreet. They made us feel at home and gave us more space we would ever have expected. The location is ideal. Like a peaceful and quiet resort right next to the huge playground which the Côte d‘Azur of course is. The rental property is lovingly furnished and at the same time functional and very well maintained and clean. Vence city center is within easy walking distance, a well stocked supermarket is right around the next corner.
Long story short: we highly recommend this location! Dear Anne and Richard, thanks again for having us. We enjoyed our stay to the fullest!!!

Onboarding was very kind, some direct e-Mails back and forth gave us all the info we needed.
When we got there we had a very warm welcome at the owner´s house, drinks and food, some nice tips for things to do - much appreciated.
As for the Place itself, there are pros and cons: The Garden is wonderful kept, you have a nice, unheated pool entirely to yourself, a wonderful terrace with a big grill, pretty quiet.
The House is described as free-standing, that may be technically correct, in fact it is a tiny building literally in the shadow of the main house.
Space is pretty limited, you have a double bed upstairs, where the pitch of the roof can be a bit of a challenge.
To get up and down you need to be agile, stairs are narrow and kind of steep.
Downstairs there is a small bathroom where you have the toilet standing in the middle of the room, no separation from anything - every time you use the shower, everything else gets somewhat wet, unavoidable. You can´t ventilate much as there are no windows, a little built-in fan does not do much.
The kitchen is well equipped, however we were offered to use another washing machine in the garage (which we didn´t).
It´s all one small room with the kitchen directly beneath the bathroom door, then a small table, a sofa and an armchair; doors lead directly outside where your car is parked. It can´t get very bright in there as the building is not really „free standing“.
To get in by car can be difficult, the gate is pretty narrow and a bit tricky to pass.
The cleanliness - in our humble opinion - might be debatable, for us it did not work out - depends of what you are used to or willing to accept.
Bottom line: If you stay outside and the weather is fine, maybe the place will suffice, for us it felt a little bit like camping, especially the bathroom situation.
We left after after four nights and spent the rest of the holiday at a hotel.
Again - very nice people, not their fault, just not what we expected.

We had a very nice stay in the lovely cottage of Anne and Richard, who welcomed us, as if we were part of the family. :-) The location is ideal to discover the area of Nice, Monaco and Cannes , as well as a good starting point for hiking tours. The town is close by in walking distance and has some good restaurants.

The stay was very nice and the description and fotos on the website reflect the actual place. The location was good with a walking distance to the city centre for restaurants and a nearby food shop, but the neighborhood was quiet at nights (good for sleeping). The house has air conditioning, as it could get rather hot in summer. For the timing of our visit (end of September) the weather was perfect and we didn't have to use air-conditioning. We found the bed particularly comfortable and the bedding and pillows very good, as well as we also enjoyed the international choice of TV (in a number of main large languages, not only in French). Distance from the beach was also rather good, although it is a bit tedious to drive on French roads (not the fault of the accommodation). Overall, for a couple (or single person) it is a very nice place to stay.
(with a big car could be somewhat difficult to enter the driveway to park and taller people should watch out for their heads on the second level, where the bed is located).

On arrival we were meet by the owners and offered a drink and food, much need.
The house has everything you need for a relaxing stay, and if you need anything else nothing is too much trouble.
My wife and myself really enjoyed the short break after everything that’s been happening, would definitely stay again👍

Very cute property, has everything you need. Vence is a lovely little town and good base for exploring the region if you have a car. We came in winter, so couldn’t use the pool, but the house is well heated. Thanks Anne and Richard, would definitely come again!!

We loved our stay in this delightful gite. Our only regret was that it was only one week. We would have been happy to stay for longer. Anne and Richard could not have been more welcoming and helpful, offering lots of useful advice on where to eat and places to visit. The gite itself is just as shown in the photographs, offering all the creature comforts you would expect and the bonus of English language tv to watch while relaxing.

We stayed in Richard and Anne's cottage for a week and from the moment we arrived we felt so warmly welcomed.
The cottage is beautiful and we wouldn't have wanted to change a thing. We had everything we needed including a washing machine, a real treat as we had already been travelling for a week before we got to Vence.
The bedroom is light and airy, with loads of cupboard space and the bed is so comfortable. We slept extremely well throughout our stay.
The wet room is roomy and the shower itself was fantastic.
There were lovely white fluffy towels and Richard and Anne also supplied towels for the pool.
The sitting area outside was great and it has a bbq!
We only used the pool on one day of our holiday (which is fabulous) as we wanted to explore the area as much as possible. There are so many great places to visit.
It was lovely to be able to walk to the little supermarket and to be able to walk into Vence and enjoy a meal and a glass of wine and walk home again.
We visited Vence of course, which we love, but we also went to Nice (several times), Éze, Tourette sur Loup and went walking in the surrounding mountains. We used the bike hire in Nice to cycle along the Promenade des Anglaise, we used the bus to Éze from Nice. (Éze is very touristy which we weren't keen on), but the bus ride with its spectacular coastal view and the climb up to the botanical gardens is well worth it for the amazing views.
We went to the cinema at Polygone Riviera https://www.polygone-riviera.fr/cinema some British films are shown with French subtitles just look for VO which indicates Version Originale.
All in all our week flew by and we really didn't want to leave and wished we booked a fortnight instead of a week.
We thank Richard and Anne for making our stay so wonderful, their kindness and generosity was very much appreciated. We would dearly love to come back.
Merci beaucoup, au revior, à bientôt! xxx

Thank you to Anne and Richard for a very relaxing stay in the town of Vence. The chalet was equipped with everything you could wish for. The aircon in the bedroom was a real bonus and made the hot summer nights comfortable for sleeping. A short walk into town for shops and restaurants makes the car redundant. All in all a wonderful relaxing break and we hope to return in the future.

Richard and Anne were impeccable hosts; there when we needed them but respecting our privacy throughout. From the first day when we met with them for aperitifs to the last when we said our farewells it was though we had found new friends, and indeed we have. For future guests, visits to Valbonne, La Turbie, Mougins and Greolieres (In the mountains over the Col de Vence) with associated lunches are highly recommended, as is this impeccably maintained and wonderfully presented holiday cottage. We look forward to our next visit.
