Sobre este casaalquiler
Rustic vintage cottage in Duck Cove with limited ocean view.

Location was perfect for us to explore all parts of the island, and quiet with room for kiddos to play outside and all spread out at the end of the day. Darling older cottage, and we appreciate the original hardwoods, trim, loft space and quirks of a historic home. The updates including the bathroom and lovely back deck were a bonus. The main issue we had was with the cleanliness (or lack thereof), and feeling like everything was dirty. We opened windows for evening fresh air and dirt/debris/bugs were caked in the sills and on the windows themselves. The refrigerator had visible mildew inside on shelves/trim, and on the water/ice dispenser. I had to clean it just to feel comfortable putting sealed food in it. The dishwasher and kitchen counters were equally grimy. The kitchen was generally well-stocked, though there are only three bowls, which made for extra rounds of washing dishes for our family to eat breakfast each day. We did appreciate the washer/dryer and detergent availability, as well as access to extra bedding and plenty of towels. I likely wouldn’t stay again unless I had communication back from the host acknowledging my feedback about cleanliness, which I haven’t, though it definitely has potential if it’s managed better.

The house was not updated or perfect but it provided a comfortable place to rest after busy days hiking and site seeing. All the amenities worked well. And the location was good for our family.

This was a great location. Close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The property was clean and perfect for 4 adults. There was room for 6-8 people. Checkin and out was easy. The back deck was lovely for morning coffee and an evening glass of wine.

pretty, well-equipped, comfortable home in a secluded location

Location was exactly what we wanted but when we arrived the water was not working. Maybe there was a leak because the house was damp and musty. We had to move to another one of her properties that was an hour away. The other property was actually nicer. There was no hair dryer and I didn't want to buy one because I don't need one at home. The washer is up so high we had to drag a ladder found in a closet to reach it.

The small cottage was located remotely which is what we were looing for. It was a 20+ min drive from the carriage trails on the other half of the island. Hodgdon seafood is two miles up the road, AWESOME local resource for your seafood needs while visiting.
On the negative side....
Upon arrival everything seemed very dirty & grimy. My wife cleaned the kitchen and bathroom with bleach. She washed the pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and bed linens. The toilet had a leak as did the front main window when it rained. The ice dispenser in the fridge had black mold all over it. The kitchen ceiling showed significant water damage. Not sure I would go back until some of these issues were addressed.

We had a great time at the house with our young kids. The attic bedroom was perfect for them, and while not a large or luxurious house overall we thought it had plenty of space for hanging out, eating, and cooking together. The deck and back yard are great, and we enjoyed being set back off the road.
The place was remarkably well stocked compared to other VRBOs we've stayed at. Communication with the host was good.
We'd definitely stay again if we come back to MDI!

House was cute and clean. Loved being on the quiet side of the island. We saw deer in the front yard every morning and a few turkey as well. Also could hear some coy dogs howling at night.

This was a perfect place for our family to call home while visiting MDI. The layout of the home was perfect for our 4 teenagers and us. We really appreciated having the washer & dryer right there for us to use. We would have really enjoyed using the outside gas fire pit on the deck but unfortunately the mosquitos were horrible while we were there, so we didn't spend much time outside.

My family and I had a lovely time at this home! We loved how it was in the quiet areas of Acadia, away from the busy more touristy Bar Harbor. It was close enough to enjoy all the park has to over in just a short drive. We loved exploring the town of West Tremont as well!
The listing is accurate to the home - it is a cottagey, cozy feel - and has only the essentials. There is "2" rooms upstairs as listed, but be aware, you must walk through the loft room to get to the 2nd room, so less privacy. We loved the outdoor patio/firepit!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and it was everything we needed! :)

Great stay for a family
We enjoyed staying at this cottage. This cottage was clean and well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Although a bit of a drive to most Acadia trails, it was so nice having quiet place to come back to after a full day of hiking. We loved the privacy and ability to have a bonfire in the back yard.

Good Value for Average Accomodations/Location
Place was very clean with lots of updates amenities inside. There are really 3 bedrooms. One has a queen bed. The other has two singles. There is a full/double sized bed upstairs that is in an area just outside the bedroom.
We had an issue with the TV being stuck in "store mode" so we could not stream any channels and there was an annoying banner on the bottom of the screen that would not go away. Despite being a smart TV, the smart functions did not work. We tried connecting to the internet to stream and also tried to cast our phones to the TV but neither worked. Bring a laptop and HDMI cord as I don't think the TV can be taken out of store mode. There was no remote for the TV to attempt to get it off store mode. Host did offer to reimburse for a new remote but I didn't want to hassle with it. Host did refund some money for the TV inconvenience which was much appreciated.
Washer and dryer worked great as did all other appliances. Cannot comment on AC though as we never needed it.
Overall, nice quiet place on southwest side of the island. Host was VERY responsive and accommodating. I would recommend this property.

Weekend fixer upper!
All went great with booking and communication with host.
Upon arrival the first thing you see is a semi broken front door but the key is for the back door, going inside there is a very overwhelming smell of mold or possibly cat urine, not sure but we actually tried to rebook somewhere else but everything was sold out, further as you look around it seems very unfinished with a lot of poor carpentry. I could go on but I really don’t like leaving bad reviews in the first place.

Great little house. Cozy and perfect for our extended family stay. A great addition would be some outdoor furniture. Definitely recommend.

Wouldn't stay again
Disappointed with the accommodations. Curb appeal and first impression are not good. Clean inside. No soap in the bathroom or face cloths. Moldy coffee grounds left in coffee pot. Property needs some basic TLC.

Had a great time for 4 people
The property was clean and had clean towels and sheets. No garbage from previous people anywhere. The living room was strangely modern with a bunch of video games which was pretty cool!
Caveat was that the second bedroom was not actually a “bedroom”. It’s a space with a bed in it. The pictures made it look like the second bed (not the twins) were in a private room but the room with the twin beds can only be accessed from the upper loft where that second bed is.
If you are in a party that doesn’t need the extra twin beds, and 2 beds is enough (like 2 couples), then you won’t have an issue because the second floor is pretty secluded from the first. However if you are in need of 3+ beds, only the master bedroom and the twin bed room will have privacy.
Also had trouble with the key to the front door and only the back door key seemed to work. Might have been me though I didn’t spend a lot of time trying to wiggle it.
Overall a nice place to stay while visiting Bar Harbor or Acadia!

Quiet getaway
This quaint farmhouse was a quiet getaway but still close enough to enjoy local sights, such as Seawall, Bass Harbor Lighthouse and Southwest Harbor. This house was a 30-40 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor and various parts of Acadia National Park. The property owner was kind and very responsive to our questions.

Loved our stay!
We (family of 6) stayed for a week and loved it!
The location of the house was perfect for visiting Bar Harbor, Acadia, and other points including Ellsworth.
The house is beautiful and has a lovely old Maine house odor to it just like my family’s homes. The house fit all our needs but we did trip the breaker about a dozen times using the ac for upstairs (most days it was not needed). The kitchen had everything we needed to cook small meals. The WiFi was not connected to internet and never worked but it was ok for us. The beds were comfortable and cozy. We came home to deer in the yard more than once and you could see the water through the trees across the street. We would stay again.

Property manager M.I.A.
Older home in need of some TLC. None of the interior doors shut properly if at all. We were there 3 days and emailed and called the property manager several times but never got a response. Had a big TV but none of us could figure out how to work it so it was useless. One of the sleeping areas on the second floor was a landing with no privacy at all.

Quiet and nice
West Tremont is in the southwest side of MDI and is quiet. This house is 30 minutes from Bar Harbor and 10ish minutes from the closest town. The house itself is small and older. It worked perfectly for us. It is not the nicest VRBO property you have ever stayed in but it is perfectly fine. You can walk across the street and get to a small bay. It comes well stocked. I wish the owner would post check in and check out instructions on the VRBO description or at least send details. I ended up calling her to find the information. We would and will stay here again. B

Old house on a beautiful lot
This house has a lot of character. It it obviously old and should be treated as such. There are recent reviews that it smelled like mold or mildew and I have to disagree. It simply smelled like an old house that maybe hasn't been opened up as often as it should. The outside of the house looks to be in a little bit of disrepair but the inside of the house is fairly up to date and very clean. We were quite comfortable in this house. That said, it could definitely use some updating. Broken siding, broken concrete, old water marks on the ceilings. None of these things would keep me from renting this house again, but it does tarnish the first impression.
It should be noted that my wife tripped the circuit breaker while blow drying her hair in the bedroom. This caused most of the house to go dark on us and I had to go down to the cellar/basement and flip the breaker back on. Not really a downside since old houses have old wiring that didn't take all our modern devices into account. But it should be considered by future tenants.
All in all i give this property a 4 star rating because it was very clean, in a beautiful location (we saw our share of deer, wild turkeys, and birds through the windows), and when the power went out the owner responded quickly. I took away a star for the outside appearance and the fact that I tripped over the broken concrete on the front porch.

Pleasant Cottage on the quiet side of the Island
The cottage was perfect for our weekend getaway to Acadia national park! Off the beaten path, but not too graft away from some great little restaurants, cafes, lighthouses, and walking paths. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend! Hope to return soon!

Cute house but too much mildew
I really wanted to like this property. It is in a great location. The owner has definitely tried to make it a habitable place for a vacation. In the beginning, she was easy to contact. However, as soon as we entered I knew it was going to be a difficult stay. The mildew smell is overpowering especially in the kitchen/laundry areas. There was an air conditioning unit in the loft (the second floor is more like a two room loft than an actual second floor, with three total beds) that made sleeping up there very manageable. However, the second night we noticed that the power flickered occasionally; and being a concerned mom I started to look around for smoke detectors...there was one in the laundry room and one near the stairs, both looking extremely old. I checked the one near the stairs and it was missing a battery. I contacted the owner immediately and she told me that if I purchased a battery she would reimburse me. To date (4 weeks post vacation) I have not seen that reimbursement and I have contacted her twice, with her responding that she'd "get to it today."
I honestly think this could be a cute getaway for people visiting MDI and Acadia. However, this house needs a LOT of work. The furniture was fine and most of it even new. But the house itself needs mold/mildew abatement for those with allergies. We left a day early.

False advertisement.
I am going to start by saying that I am a hardcore mountaineer, rock climber and outdoor loving person, and have no issues or problems with sleeping on top of dirt and with a rock as a pillow. I am easy, but this time I took my parents and baby from Florida to a place with no ocean view and only 2 bedrooms. An extremely dirty kitchen, a fridge with ketchup splatter and dirty shelves and 100 year old floors with nail clippings from previous guests. Not to mention the rotten towels inside the washing machine obviously from a previous rental. It is obvious that the place was not prepared and properly cleaned for our arrival and really feel cheated and frustrated to have paid a cleaning fee for a really dirty place. I even got instructions to leave the trash in the garage and laundry in the laundry room. First time ever.
Maine is fantastic, Tremont is a beautiful place, but this place is falsely advertised and I have the pictures to prove it.
Now it is up to the owner to mend and do what is correct. Your place has potential but I really feel cheated.
Thanks.

Fantastic Stay!
We loved our stay in this quaint, historic cottage on the “Quietside” of MDI. We had so much fun exploring Acadia National Park and loved “coming home”.
The cottage was comfortable, relaxing, and immaculately clean! Thank you for the generous welcome basket and the recent addition of air conditioning in the loft bedroom. I loved the ocean breeze and even saw some turkeys in the back yard! The cottage was well stocked with starter supplies and an overall excellent value. We will definitely be back next summer!

Fell short to expectations
We arrived hoping that further renovations were done then what we saw in the pictures since the description said renovations will be done in June. But the place was worse then the pictures led us to believe. While the place does have some fresh new paint and furniture it is not well done. All around the house it has unfinished wood showing, rot areas, and inside has an unfinished kitchen that has seen its years. Unfortinutely, keeping the kitchen unfinished and having no AC for August the house had a smell to it that was not welcoming. My wife had to clean up the tub floor as it was not well done. And to top it we had bugs that for sure we thought were roaches. We killed 4 while in the house and notified the landlord. The owner showed up with cleaning supplies for the tub and denied the house had roaches but we googled the bug and know what roaches look like. It was August hi season and had no other options to make a move so we sucked up the smelly old house with bugs that we had to further clean and was still 40mins from bar harbor for 4 nights all for $230 a night when you add all the fees. When I requested the owner to consider a rate adjustment i only heard how she was under charging me (she was not) and never heard from her again. Again this house needs lots of work and a owner that actually understands this business and cares to be fair. Sad, future renters beware!

Charming and Secluded
We stayed at this cute cottage at the end of July 2018. Built a hundred years ago, many updates have been made while still retaining it's original charm. You can sense the history from the hardwood floors and all of the original paintings done by the previous owner. The cottage is close enough to Acadia National Park without all the crowds of a tourist trap. Our family of 5 fit nicely--mom and dad were downstairs while the kids were in the upstairs loft/2 bedrooms. Updated appliances, bathroom, living/dining room made for an enjoyable stay. We had cable tv and Wi-Fi. While the kitchen still needs some work, there was plenty of space to store food and supplies.
The owner left a lovely welcome basket with lots of brochures on local places of interest. My husband ate 8 lobster that week from a lobster pound just 2 miles up the road. (The kitchen has large pots and tools to steam and crack your own lobster.)
One of the days was spent kayaking in the most beautiful reservoir about 20 minutes away. My children had a blast! Local bakeries offer FRESH BLUEBERRY PIE in many locations (we bought 4 while we were there and ate them for breakfast and dinner!)
We appreciated the owner's eye for cleanliness. The bathroom and floors were spotless! We had plenty of laundry soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. The towels and linens were all brand new with extras in the closets.
The property really is private. Never once did we see the next door neighbors. The cottage is set far back from the road, and we never heard any cars or people. I gave this property four stars for its location and cleanliness. If we return, I'll give it 5 stars once the kitchen is remodeled. We had a lovely time!
I appreciate this owner working hard to update this property. She has made some nice improvements, and I am grateful that she is opening up her place to families like mine. We were able to have a house to ourselves without paying high hotel bills.

Not quite ready to rent
This rental has potential and the house has interesting bones, however, we rented because it had internet, important so my husband could work at night and enjoy his days with the kids. Unfortunately, there was no internet hooked up yet (I’m sure there is now) and we never found the half bath that was advertised. There was one full bath, however, the tub was filthy. The water view is just a sliver and not reflected accurately in the photo. Otherwise, the home was set up to be warm and welcoming. This could just be a difficult beginning of a new rental, however, the house did not work for us and was falsely advertised on two important fronts. Because my husband needed internet at night, we could not stay in the house and made other arrangements. We asked for a partial refund but the owner was unresponsive. I hope others have better luck and that the owner has corrected the description on the website, but for us it was a total bust and an extreme waste of money.

No stars option was not available. Not enjoyable experience.
This property was listed as “recently renovated” however, that was not the case. We (family of four) experienced an extremely lack of dishes (only 3 small plates & no starter supplies at all). Living room seemed renovated but the bedrooms upstairs were in bad shape. The windows were filthy and you could not close them so every bug in rural Maine is allowed in (moths, earwigs, roaches). We could not use the upstairs rooms due to the bug / window situation and one of the twin mattresses had very dark staining of possible remnants of bed bugs. We took pictures. No bbq. Extremely disappointed. Did not feel comfortable at all.
