The Fortress was very spacious & a very private setting/yard! 10- minute walk to the beach & restaurant/bars/shopping The property is a little old & we experienced several system breakdowns TV, Internet, sewage smells etc… the owner, Mgmt contact, maintenance were very responsive & for the most part fixed things in a timely manner! We would stay there again, we just booked it wrong as we all stayed different l

There were nothing but problems from the first day.
The property manager sent a representative to meet our first person. She showed a few things about the property, but there were no written instructions. The grill was filthy, and didn’t work till the third day when someone came to fix it. Some of the hot and cold faucets were backwards - so we thought two of the rooms didn’t have hot water. The propane ran out, and the spa wasn’t working till the sixth night.
The wifi and tv didn’t work in the two backyard bedrooms for the first few days.
We couldn’t figure out how to work the stove.
The AC in the dining room didn’t work at all. With the living room AC down the dining room was bearable, but the living room was too cold for anyone to use it. The AC didn’t reach the kitchen at all.
We couldn’t reach the property manager by phone. He told us there was no one to contact after 6PM. I had to send messages through VRBO to get help. Each time someone answered me promptly, but they had major problems fixing all the issues, and sometimes didn’t send anyone till the end of the day. Two or three nights there was a worker at the house till 9PM. The workers would say we’ll be back at 8:30 tomorrow - then not show up till after six, or the next day.
All the beds, except the two twins in the small main floor bedroom, were way too firm and uncomfortable.
The outside furniture is shabby, broken pieces sticking out. One dining room chair isn’t stable, almost collapsing when someone sat in it. Much of the inside furniture is beat up and broken.
The worst was on the 4th (or was it 5th?) day when it poured for hours. We woke up to leaks all over the dining room, kitchen and laundry room. The first person up that morning slipped on the wet tile floors - luckily she was able to grab onto something and keep herself from falling.
VRBO told us to vacate the property and find new lodging. But they said we had to use Expedia, and we had to keep costs close to what we spent on this house if we wanted to be reimbursed. It was impossible to find anything comparable, and at that point most of our complaints had been addressed. We decided to stay, the rain stopped, the sun came out, and it seemed we’d be better off just staying.
The owner gave us a 25% refund. This didn’t come close to covering the time we lost - but we were so tired of the whole thing we said ok.
The property needs to be cleaned, better maintained, and clear instructions provided.

This house was the prefect for our large family. We had 10 people and had plenty of bedrooms and beds. Quick walk to the beach, restaurants, shopping and the beach bar for daily happy hour. Had a few minor hiccups that the property managers handled ASAP. Cannot say enough good things about them. The pool was awesome and great time hanging in there in the afternoons.

Easy communication with the host. Only issue we had all week was spotty internet if everyone was Googling what to do next or what music to play at the same time...

House was great, clean and well maintained. The outdoor space was excellent, lots of shaded sitting areas and hammocks. The pool and connected jacuzzi are in an area of the outdoor space that can be closed off with gates if needed for young children.

property is so so. cold water showers, broken toilet seat in downstairs master suite, pool/hot tub tile is scaled and dirty. cockroaches in upstairs master suite and outside apartment has a small pest infestation. cannot leave drinking glasses on counters as they become full of little bugs.. thats the property review. THE real issue is the shady owner. prior to coming to aruba, one of the couples could not make the trip due to the covid 19 pandemic, we spoke to the owner before arriving and he promised to refund their portion of the rental, no questions asked due to the circumstances. the other 3 couples did make the trip to aruba and his villa. as the outbreak became full blown, we were advised to leave early before the airport shut down. we spoke to the owner in person and followed up with facebook messenger messages where the owner , promised to refund a portion of our rental for the 3 nights we did not stay. i saved the messages, and can share if you would like to see them. once we returned to the states, i contacted the owner a week after to inquire the status of the refund. he commented he was so busy with this pandemic he hasn't had time, and that vrbo did not disperse the money to his account yet so he "can't refund what he hasn't received yet". three weeks later i contacted him again and he now states it is not his responsibility to refund anything, its vrbo's responsibility to refund the FULL portion. i have spoken to vrbo multiple times, they (VRBO) have refunded the "service fee" , they have dispersed the money into the owners account and it is expected that (the owner) refund the partial portion of the unused rental costs. THIS IS VRBO'S POLICY FROM THEIR WEBSITE: "Request a refund: We are strongly encouraging property owners and managers to issue at least a partial refund for situations in which a flexible credit can not be accommodated. Please contact the owner or property manager to discuss cancellation and refund options. Although they are not obligated to provide a refund beyond the terms of the rental agreement, those who do not offer flexibility are subject to penalties in our marketplace." The owner said "i will not be intimidated by their penalitie policy". Its a shame an owner with multiple rental properties takes advantage of hard working people who save up to take a vacation that ends with unforseen circumstances. i'm a firm believer in karma.

I attended meetings at the Ritz Carlton, which was close as well. We met Helen on the first day! Wonderful lady and very helpful on guiding us in restaurant ideas and activities. The cooler, beach chairs, beach towels and umbrella were great additions! They made our beach outings much easier! We had an At Home Aruba chef prepare 2 dinners at the Fortress!! Wow!! Wonderful experience
This was a really good property. We were a group of 10 adults, enjoyed the separate sleeping quarters and the main house. Kitchen was nicely equipped, pool and jacuzzi were wonderful. Was a little tricky to locate and had taxi's circuling around numerous times but once we figured it out, was easy to get to. Definitely a great place for groups to enjoy the area!
There were a few minor glitches but we worked around them and enjoyed our time there immensely!

I attended meetings at the Ritz Carlton, which was close as well. We met Helen on the first day! Wonderful lady and very helpful on guiding us in restaurant ideas and activities. The cooler, beach chairs, beach towels and umbrella were great additions! They made our beach outings much easier! We had an At Home Aruba chef prepare 2 dinners at the Fortress!! Wow!! How wonderful!!

Helpful feedback to owner
The outdoor area needs to be maintained. Pool area needs to be power washed and a lot of the pool tile re-grouted. The hot water heater for the house needs replacement ( insufficient hot water for morning showers) overall review is that it has been neglected and needs some maintenance on a regular basis.

What a hidden gem
We really loved this properly. We felt as if we had our own oasis and privacy was of zero concern. The maid was really really nice as well. Everyone had their own bedroom and bed so that wasn’t a issue either. We would book here in a heart beat. The owner is a very nice guy and a surgeon so your in good hands literally 😉

Fun
The location in Palm Beach was great, within walking distance to beaches and night activities. The home is spacious as there was 10 family members from 4 mos. to 81 yrs. The property manager answered any questions we had and was response when needed to be. We all had a great time.

Awesome home in Aruba
We had an amazing vacation. This house was perfect in all it's amenities and space for our family of 8. Loved the table on the front porch, having a private pool was great and it felt like home. Dr. Riley was an awesome host and very helpful with a medical issue for my brother soon after we arrived. We will be back!!

Fun family vacation
We had 6 adults and 8 kids with us and the house was perfect. Each family was able to have their own area. One family stayed in the guest house, a family upstairs, and a family on the main floor. We were able to walk to palm beach, the grocery store and the palm beach mall. We loved aruba!! The pool was great and the outdoor seating perfect. Emma was wonderful and so helpful. The wine delicious!! Thank you

Could have been 5 stars; however, ..........
First off we loved Aruba! It really did help that other than late afternoon, sleeping and early morning we weren't at the house. When we landed I reached out to the owner via the VRBO app as requested and was informed the home wasn't going to be ready on time as the previous renters left late. This wasn't a big deal as we took our time getting to the home. We stayed for 2 weeks. Now the owners: The good - the wife is very pleasant and does her best to accommodate. The bad - the doctor isn't! We had numerous things go wrong with the home. The washing machine starting leaking our first time using it.... Almost 2 weeks later it was finally fixed!! Then the home had a terrible smell... Turns out the septic tank needed to be pumped out and the timer was set to run the pump to move water out in the afternoon, should've been early morning per the Dr.
Also, the gas tank the heats the hot tub was empty after the 3 day. Per the Dr. that was our fault! What? Turns out the guy who delivers the propane tanks said we didn't use it up he was a week behind changing out the replacements... Nice!! The A/C went out in the Master Suite upstairs also. Lucky for us the wife was on it and was fixed in 2 days.
Again, could've been a 5 star but due to the Doctor it's a 3 star for us. I rented this house for my wife's 50th birthday because of the other reviews that were favorable but feel I should be full disclosure so others know what can happen if things go wrong.
Still a great trip overall and home has tons of room BUT only talk to the wife is my strong recommendation!!!

Great for big group. On the best part of the island.
We chose this property because we had 11 adults and 1 baby and wanted everyone to have a bed. We had a terrific week. We spent a bunch of time outside in the multiple seating areas around the pool. The owners are friendly, responsive, and helpful. I was a little nervous because the property allows smoking outside and a couple in my party are highly sensitive to those smells. There was no hint of a smoke smells anywhere. Thanks for letting us use your house for a terrific and memorable week in a beautiful place.

AWESOME, HELPFUL AND ATTENTIVE
I can't thank Helen enough for her helpfulness and thoughtfulness!! She was so warm and friendly. My family and I LOVED the house. It was perfect for our party of 9. Helen helped us get acclimated to the area - showed my sister where Dunkin Donuts was (VERY important) and 2 others in my party where the supermarket was.
Luz is the NICEST woman I've met. Although it was difficult to communicate at the beginning of the week as I don't speak Spanish, by the end of the week we were communicating via Google translator and are now Facebook friends. She was there with a friendly hug when she arrived.
I'm looking forward to an annual trip to Aruba - I hope to be a guest of Helen's and Dr. Riley's again.
The pictures shown on the website do not reflect the current furniture and updates. The house is even more beautiful in person.

Wonderful home!
We booked several houses for guests who attended our wedding in Aruba. By far, this house was the nicest home out of all of them & the owners were absolutely amazing to work with. The house is a short walk to the beach & nightlife of both Palm & Moomba beaches. It was the perfect place for 9 of our guests!

An amazing week
My friends and I stayed in this amazing house for a week and we had the time of our lives. We all just graduated so we decided to treat ourselves to this house, this was the best decision we ever made. The house is spacious, secure and has everything you need, a dishwasher, a washing machine & dryer,alarm, a whole lot of bedrooms and some nice outdoor seating areas. This house definitely felt like home, there's a nice dining area where we spent most of our nights eating dinner, also a big couch so our whole group could watch TV together, we were about 8 people staying there. The house is also very close to the beach and nightlife so we didn't even need a car, we would just walk. There is also a mini market close by where we would usually get some last minute groceries, so that was great. Overall the memories we made would not have been the same without this house, my friends and I are truly grateful to have been able to stay here. The owners were also very nice and accommodating so that also made this experience 10 times better.

Great house with plenty of room!!!
My wife and I were in Aruba for our wedding and all of our bridesmaids and groomsmen stayed at the house for the week. There were 7 of us total with plenty of room to spare. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner which gave us a complete tour of the house. She was very informative and welcoming. When not at the beach or dining out or having fun at the high rise hotels (all of which are walking distance) we were at the pool and hot tub at the house. Having a full kitchen, 5 bedrooms, and 4 bathrooms was great because we were not having to take turns with showers and all had plenty of room to sleep. We rented a car for the week so having a garage door and privacy was great also. If traveling with a group this home is just what you are looking for.

Great Family Stay!
We had a family gathering and enjoyed this property. Kitchen is updated from what the photos on this site represent. The pool and hot tub is a great feature and you can only get so much beach somedays.
