Both me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the parlour, It was very clean and quirky. Perfect little retreat for couples..

Beautiful rural location surrounded by fields, shepherd's hut was clean, warm and very comfortable, beautifully finished inside. Enjoyed sitting outside in the evening using the fire pit & watching the cows. Hosts were extremely accomodating and very helpful. Enjoyable walks from the property too.
Can't think of any improvements!

The space was beautiful, cozy, warm, comforting and really practical for a few days away. The hosts were friendly, accomodating and very helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
There isn't really anything to complain about. I guess, a cover for the BBQ might make it more accessible inbetween bad weather, but that's about it.

was a really nice accommodation log fire but we didn’t use it as it was warm enough not to use it. table folds down and the bed comes out of the wall. great design with wardrobe. outside lighting to sit outside in your very own private garden at night with a log fibre outside too. great for visiting Alton towers as it’s only a 7 minute drive, you’re practically on the same road all the way to Alton Towers

Very welcoming, lovely scenery, very cozy. It had everything we needed
Nothing that we didn't like.

Loved the parlour as was cosy and warm and quiet with lovely facilities, staff very friendly, gave us lots of info on arrival.
Kitchenette had no oven or microwave , stayed 2 nights and planned to eat in the 1st night so took food which we had to throw away which is ok but if we had known there wasn’t an oven and microwave we wouldn’t have taken it.
Also would recommend cushions on table seating area as very uncomfortable sitting on hard wood and was plenty of space to store them when bed is pulled down. Had to keep bed pulled down for somewhere soft to sit however….
Pull down bed had very thin mattress was literally like sleeping on the wooden bed base had to put pillows underneath us for extra comfort and use towels as pillows. A real shame as loved the cosy quaint shepherds hut.

A unique and very cosy little hut. Very clean with amenities and facilities in brilliant condition. Lovely views onto the fields, all rounder little property.
Not so much dislike, but the mattress was a little uncomfortable but not unbearable. This would literally be the only thing, but not worth complaining about at all. I think we’re just a bit too used to our Emma mattress. The stay couldn’t have been better for us, thank you!

A very convenient location and beautiful hut and surroundings. We loved the design of the Parlour and waking up to the fields and seeing the dairy cows outside in the evening. The hut was pristine and very well looked after with everything we needed. Our hosts were very welcoming and recommended nearby places to visit and eat (we’re off to Calke Abbey today at their recommendation!). The nearby Tavern was a great place to eat in the evening and super-close. We will definitely be back!
Our only little niggle was that while the mattress was soft, the bed ended up being a little too hard for us. If you have any joint/muscle-related soreness I’d recommend just bringing a mattress topper!

Great location & facilities. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating.

Beautiful quiet location just a short bus ride away from Alton Towers. The cabin is cozy, warm (even during a heavy downpour!) and the transformable table/bed set up is very clever. Being greeted by the lovely dog, cats and chickens was a treat too!
Not sure if we had the only key but was surprised to find at no point was the room checked over while we were out; for example the bin was not emptied. We were only there two nights though so no biggie.

I’ve booked The Parkour after a friend of mine stayed there in January and she was super happy, I saw her photos and thought it would be great for the Jubilee weekend. My and my husband really enjoyed our weekend there, lovely hosts Tessa & David made us very welcome and we will be definitely back!
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, maybe the check in could be slightly earlier 3pm and check out 11am but again we didn’t have any problem just to make the stay be a bit longer 😉 maybe in the future it would be great to arrive slightly earlier…

Made us feel at home from the minute we got there.
It was very peaceful and the views were fantastic.
Definitely will revisit just checking holidays and we will rebook another stay.
The shepherds hut was fantastic warm and cosy extremely comfortable and a great layout.
Family dog came and visited extremely freindly .
The weather was a little moist but other than this there was nothing too dislike

We have just returned from the most wonderful weekend at The Parlour. The shepherd hut itself is really beautiful; the craftsmanship inside is so clever and well put together, the style and the decor are so cosy. It was great to have a proper dining table for our meals too, which I've not seen in any other huts. But by far the most fabulous feature was the cracking wood stove! That got us very toasty in no time! However even in November the hut was warm enough as we slept, without the fire on beforehand.
The view looking out into the dairy herd field was lovely, and we were visited by some rescue chickens and a pheasant too. It was a very relaxing place to be and a fantastic location. We went for a great walk to Alton recommended by the owner, right from the hut and onto the Staffordshire Way. Glorious autumnal views along the way! We enjoyed a pub meal in the village too.
The hut is also just 8 mins drive from Uttoxeter, where there are supermarkets.
Overall we absolutely loved our few days here, it was perfect for walking and resting and we would love to go again.
As a wood stove first-timer, I feel a little instruction sheet would have been helpful as the first time trying to keep it burning was a bit tricky for us.

Amazing cosy place which a stones throw away from Alton Towers.
The facilities were excellent with a modern farm house decor. The log burner was a great feature, inside and also came with firepit for outside, keeping us toasty wherever we sat.
We were greeted with bottle of bubbley, chilling in the fridge along with some essentials to make our stay comfortable.
Could not fault the bed, its so comfy! Loved the little radio too, such a relaxing place, highly recommended!
That we had to leave!!

It was a beautiful location and incredibly easy to get there via taxi. The parlour was beautiful and cosy for us on a couple of cold nights. We loved our stay.

The stay was cosy and had everything we needed inside. Perfect for a couple and just 10 mins away from Alton towers, highly recommend if going.
Came back one night to no water in the toilet and a smell had come through, solved with a simple flush so nothing much to complain about.

Very friendly staff, very cute place, nice decor. Everything we needed was provided (other than food/drink, but we did find a bottle of Champagne for us in the fridge, as well as some milk for tea/coffee). Friendly animals around, very nice view and we were generally undisturbed and cozy. The nearby farmer's market and café was also really really nice, a little bit expensive but had everything the heart desires and more, and really good quality at that.
The biggest issue was how difficult it was to get to, as we travelled on a Saturday and busses from Derby to Denstone only run until 5pm or so. We ended up having to take a bus to Mayfield and then a taxi from there. Getting to Alton Towers was also exceedingly difficult as there is only one bus in the morning and one in the evening, which meant we often ended up spending 20 pounds on a taxi. I'd absolutely recommend going by car.
This place also says that no internet is available, which is fine, but I didn't expect to have absolutely no phone internet or even signal at all, that's with 3 different providers. It made it quite difficult to plan journeys and events as we couldn't even look up a bus route on google, and it also meant that we couldn't watch any shows. We got around it by just planning while we were out and downloading some things to watch in advance.
The place also tended to heat up quite a lot in the sun and it has no aircon and no fan, which was a little bit of an issue as my partner has a phobia of wasps, so we could only really open the windows after dark. We often only got back in the evenings, though, so it was fine.

A picturesque stay, just a 10 minute drive from Alton Towers. The barn is beautiful, well kept and decorated, with a fantastic view of the hills and the cows. No matter the weather it was perfect come rain or shine. Getting to hear the local wildlife and the local chickens, cats and cows was just perfect. We had a parking space and plenty of room for our luggage. The shower and kitchen were an awesome surprise for such a rustic stay! Would highly recommend this stay!
The only downside was the lack of mobile signal, the site does state that there is no WIFI but it is perfect to get away from too much technology.

The location was great. The accommodation felt very homely with lots of little touches to make it so. The hist was very friendly and welcoming.
There was nothing that we didn't like.

Such a gorgeous property! So quirky and peaceful, the bed was so comfy and the facilities was everything we needed for the few days we were away! The surroundings were lovely with the cows and the view was so nice!
The exit out of the property wasnt great, we almost had a few accidents, I do think a mirror is needed at the end or the bushes need to be cut down so you can see as you leave the drive way as its blind.

We loved everything about this place the atmosphere was so relaxed, the scenery is gorgeous and the hosts were very welcoming and not at all intrusive. There’s a farm shop that’s walking distance that sell everything you need and also has a cafe. 10/10
There’s nothing to say everything was exceptional we loved our 2 nights here.

The most wonderful hosts in the best location!
7mins to Alton towers in the car, short drives to local pubs/dining. Lovely countryside, so peaceful we didn’t even realise there were people staying in the other parts of the farm. A little dog loves to come say hello super friendly! The hosts go above and beyond and so quick to respond so be super helpful and kind. Great fire pit and everything to get it lit and working!
A little difficult to find the entrance to turn in especially from a main road. Otherwise loved everything about this place !
It took us time to work out how to use the hob - however easy when solved! I know we would have instant assistance if we had asked though!

Fantastic accommodation. Had a first class experience. The hosts were amazing and friendly. We felt so welcome. The shepherds hut was spotless and such a lovely place to stay.
Accommodation close to Alton towers and other local amenities.
Would definitely recommend to stay here. We will be going back.
We loved everything
