Historic Oxford Waterfront Estate

House and pool, grounds, and dock on river were terrific. Availability of canoes, kayaks, paddle boards was great. Pool was large and well maintained. Grounds in back facing the river were large, open , accessible for throwing a ball for a catch and playing croquet. Outdoor chairs were well positioned for sunning or sitting in the shade of one of the large trees to read. Outdoor gas grill by the pool next to 2 tables for dining was great for burgers and hot dogs night.The view from the porch looking out to the river was beautiful.

My family enjoyed an outstanding week here. It was so wonderful that before the week was out, we reserved the house for a week next summer! We are a multi-generational group ranging from 2 years old up to 70, and the house and amenities worked for all of us. The house is spacious, well stocked and spotless. Its setting and grounds are beautiful, and we enjoyed all the amenities, swimming daily, canoeing, crabbing, playing croquet and badminton, too. We grilled out several times and always had our dinner on the lovely waterfront patio.

This was our second visit to Bonfield Manor. The home is beautifully maintained and has plenty of dishes, household supplies and games. We had fun canoeing, swimming, playing crochet and badminton. We had several cook outs. The caretaker on the property was perfect. There was no need to go off the premises for other activities. WIFI worked well.

Bonfield Manor is a beautiful, welcoming home as described in its listing and confirmed by the many 5 star reviews. We all agreed with everything already written. A few things we especially enjoyed included reading about the history of the estate and playing the piano which sounded great! We watched old home movies from the 1950s and '60s on the DVD player which was so nostalgic. We all loved playing "no strike out" softball on the spacious yard as well as hide n' seek outdoors. Our group did a geo cache on the provided bikes in Oxford followed by lunches at local restaurants. Did I mention the not to be missed Scottish Highland Creamery which is on Maryland's official Ice Cream Trail? Yum! The friendly and helpful caretaker was an added bonus. Every morning we would see the caretaker checking on the pool. She let us know when the pool would be serviced and when the lawn would be cut. It was nice getting to know her. As they say in my western Pa. hometown, "A good time was had by all." We thank the owner for opening her beautiful house to us for our annual family vacation.

This house was absolutely perfect for our family
The layout of the house, everyone had their own space and bedrooms were very comfortable. A beautiful library of books, which we used in the evening after kids were in bed.
The grounds and the pool, dock, kayaks, and every space was ideal. We will definitely return!

The house and property were absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed swimming in the pool, going out on the kayaks and paddle boards and bike riding into the quaint town of Oxford. We truly enjoyed our stay at Bonfield Manor and would love to come back again!

The house and grounds are wonderful. All the bedrooms were well appointed and very comfortable. The common spaces were very generous and very well appointed to make you feel right at home. The kitchen had everything we could have wanted and more. Pool, dock and yard were great for gathering and games - wish we could have stayed a month! Will definitely stay here again.

This was the perfect place for our girls get away. The house and location were perfect. There is plenty to do at the house and close by. The ferry to St. Michaels is not far. I would highly recommend this property and plan on booking again in the future.

What a magnificent home. Fabulously appointed with thoughtful furnishings. Bedrooms and baths were perfect. The surroundings, pool, dock, boats, bikes are everything you could want. We would love to stay here again

This is a great rental for a large family. The town is beautiful and quiet with marinas, a ferry, a 25 mile an hour speed limit so biking is easy and safe, great restaurants and one of the best ice cream places in all of Maryland. The property has so many activities — a huge yard with breath taking sunrises, games, bikes, canoes, a pool, BBQ grills, badminton…we had an amazing family reunion!

We were a big family including 6 adults and 4 children. The house was perfect for our needs having kayaks and paddleboats, games, inground pool, and an extensive library of all kinds of books to read. The large dining room and tables with chairs near the pool made it easy to enjoy family meals. My only fault with the house is that the bathrooms are a little small.We really enjoyed Oxford and spending time in Easton, as well.

The house was amazing!!! Beautiful, clean, plenty of space for a family. The owner and property manager were both wonderful and very attentive to our needs. We’re booking again for next year. The house was exactly as described and the pictures did not do it justice

Beautiful home and setting! Lots to do to keep pre-teens and teens occupied: canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, games, plus large, flat yard for outdoor games, such as bocce ball. Very relaxing…highly recommend!

We had a great family vacation at Bonfield Manor!! Property was immaculate and the grounds were beautiful. Surrounding area was clean and quiet. Would def recommend the Scottish Creamery for an ice cream treat! The owner Marianne and the caretaker Betty were both very responsive and helpful with any questions we had. For such a beautiful property, it would be nice to have a heated pool, which would have allowed us to enjoy the pool much more. Certainly would recommend this property to others!

Ten people in my family stayed at the gorgeous Bonfield Manor to celebrate the college graduation of my two sons. The house was plenty big enough for all of us to be together or hang out in smaller groups. The kitchen is very well stocked and looks like it was recently remodeled. We really appreciated being to sit at the large dining room table and share meals together. We also enjoyed the kayaks and the amazing view.

This is a wonderful waterfront house with plenty of bedrooms and full bathrooms for our group. The house was well appointed with ample toiletries, yard games, board games, bikes, canoes, and water safety equipment for children. The pool was great. Chris, the property manager, was not far and I felt was always available if needed. We never needed any assistance since the house was well organized with items thoughtfully placed in its logical positions. Our family had a wonderful stay and would come back again.

We loved our week in Oxford. We especially enjoyed the window enclosed veranda which has the most beautiful view of the property and water. The kitchen was well stocked with top of the line dishes and cookware. Any hours were spent in the pool.

Bonfield Manor is a beautiful, welcoming, and historical home. There is lots of space for relaxing and entertaining with one-of-a-kind views and unique privacy. It has all the activities you might want - warm pool with large shallow end for kids, kayaks and canoes, a great BBQ set up, walking trails and even a rich library. Oxford is close to Easton so it's easy to get groceries, and anything else you might need. Chris and Marianne were both very responsive and helpful. The only thing we missed was Netflix / Amazon, but even that we appreciated after a few days once we slowed down! We can't recommend Bonfield enough - it was great for our extended family.

3 generation vacation
This property is nothing short of AMAZING! Spotless! Our family, ages 16-79, enjoyed everything this property had offered; pool, dock with launching step for the kayaks and SUP, bicycles, library, piano, a well stocked kitchen and closeness to town. We definitely will be returning. Great communication with the owner, Marianne. Property manager, Chris, lives on the property (separate house) and was quick to respond when grill needed propane. History galore!

Fabulous house and property
We loved this house and its gorgeous property! It was perfect for our large family with plenty of room inside and out. Lots of amenities available to us (nice dock, kayaks, canoes, bicycles) and the pool was awesome. Marianne (the owner) and Chris (property manager) were both very responsive to any questions we had. We are definitely looking forward to vacation at Bonfield Manor again!

Bonfield Manor was awesome! It is such a unique property with a great view and the charm of an older house that has been carefully maintained and curated over the years. The large lawn, pool, and dock kept us fully entertained all week. We look forward to visiting again soon.

This property is beautifully maintained with great attention to detail, including a well stocked kitchen, children’s nursery, a lovely swimming pool, and dock complete with a gorgeous view. Wonderful Memorial Day weekend
We had a wonderful weekend here with friends with young kids the same age as ours. The property truly has every activity you could imagine wanting to enjoy - including the fabulous pool, BBQ, boating, badminton, etc. with a wonderful lawn for games and lounging. It’s a quick bike ride into Oxford. The house was big and comfortable and when not in the pool we spent hours enjoying the sunroom overlooking the lawn and water. It has lots of charm with modern updates to the kitchens and bathrooms. Clearly many thoughtful touches into making sure everyone is comfortable and has what they need, down to the smallest details of easily accessible outlets and reading lights by each bed. Perfect family reunion
This place has everything we needed for a family getaway. Both Marianne and Chris were very responsive to our needs. The kayaks and paddle boards were a hit all week. The furniture on the dock was our favorite area to hang out and relax. The enclosed back sitting room was great to relax if it was hot and still has open views of the water and pool. We were interested in crabbing off the dock so Chris went out and got us a trap and keeper pot, which made for a delicious feast for our last day.

Beautiful Oxford Retreat
Absolutely beautiful old home and amazing property! Bonfield Manor had everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation. Rode bikes into Oxford, kayaked to the beach, fished from the dock, spent hot afternoons in the pool, relaxed in adirondack chairs in the evening. Marianne was a great and accommodating hostess, Chris was available if we needed anything. 5 stars plus!! We loved our stay, we will be back!

Perfection
Bonfield Manor more than lived up to its name and was perfect in every way. The location and views were spectacular. The house was spotless and had everything we could have wanted or needed. Marianne and the caretaker were responsive and a pleasure. Be sure to take the bikes out for a ride around the conservation center next door and for the short ride into the center of town. We look forward to going back.

Excellent, Just Excellent
House was extremely clean and everything (non-food) you could want. The dwelling itself is so unique, and the library fantastic. And the grounds were perfect for kids to run around. Both Marianne and Chris were very responsive. The propane tank on the grill was low and it was replaced within 30 minutes. I highly recommend this property.

Surpassed expectations in every way!
Like other guests who have stayed at Bonfield Manor, I write this absolutely glowing review somewhat reluctantly, selfishly fearing that it will become too popular for us to rebook next summer! Everything about this stunning property, from its fairytale setting to its beautifully historic (and immaculate) interior, to what we took to calling its "embarrassment of amenities," was absolutely perfect. Upon arriving, we wandered through the house and grounds feeling as if we had stumbled onto the set of a Nancy Meyers film. :) Marianne is the consummate host -- incredibly responsive, kind, welcoming, and helpful. Our family group was three generations: seven adults and one child, and to a person, we agreed we couldn't have found a better property on VRBO. A million thanks!
