Please READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW. Overall, the house was pretty awesome in a perfect location with a lot of positives, but there are some serious drawbacks that future guests need to be aware of. The bottom line is you need to bring everything imaginable with you. The listing correct stated that bed linens were not included, but there are MANY more items the house is not stocked with that it should be for a normal vacation rental. We had to provide bath towels, hand towels, paper towels, dish soap, dish sponge, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, hand soap, even trash bags. The host told me the cleaning service provides one (1) roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, but upon check-in, two bathrooms didn't have any. The listing also doesn't mention there is no trash service. You are required to haul out all your trash and take it to the local disposal/recycling center. The "welcome" binder also states that any trash not emptied upon checkout will incur a $20 per trashcan fee. There was one set of dishes and utensils, but very lacking in the cooking utensil category. We had to make a grocery store run once we discovered just how minimal the house is stocked.
Those are the negatives, but there were a lot of great things about the house. We spent most of our time on the dock and the kayaks were a huge hit. The house had all the "fun" items, tennis rackets, ping pong paddles, inflatables, pool noodles, dock power, and games. Phenomenal boat ramp next door!!

We loved our stay at this home in the Waterways community. The house layout was perfect for our family of 4 plus grandparents. The kids loved the foosball table and the pool tennis/courts. We used the kayaks and loved siting in the shade on the dock. Can't say enough great things about the property. This is the second time we've stayed here and would definitely stay again.

Offered everything we needed and the enclosed porch was a great perk for my mother to sit and be able to watch the grandkids swim at the dock and enjoy the water view when she couldn’t walk down to the dock. This year we all had to drive separately with different days off work schedules and we so appreciated having plenty of driveway to park. It’s a very comfortable lake home.

We love the location , all the space and the dock to house. We wish they had more tho…cleaning supplies, paper towels, soap, toiletries, dish towels, blankets, better/cleaner pots and pans.

I’ve been coming to SML with my family for over 35 years and I can say that this is easily our favorite spot we’ve ever stayed. The layout of the house was perfect for our family. There were 6 of us (2 children and 4 adults) and it was more than enough space. Our kids loved the trundle beds, foosball table, and walking to the tennis courts/pool. The large dock is perfect for hanging out, going for a quick dip, or eating a meal. It was easy to load on/off our rental pontoon because of how large the dock area is. The house is situated on a lovely quiet which gave us peace of mind since we had two young kids with us. We also enjoyed using the kayaks. All around can’t say enough nice things about our stay.

Happy with our stay
We had a wonderful week at Smith Mt lake. The house was what they had described. We loved the closeness between house and the dock. The house was clean, the place I ordered linens/towels from were waiting for us, and kitchen was well supplied. We will stay there again.

Great Getaway !!!!
Communication was great! My wife and I took my elderly parents for a trip to visit the SML Home Tour. Staying here my family had a great time. Great location and home was just as described. We are definitely going to rent this property again. Thanks again for letting us show my parents a great time at a wonderful property.

Our Stay
We had a nice stay at SML. However, the cleanliness of the home could be improved & communication with the owner was not the best. The neighborhood is nice & quiet & having access to the community pool was a plus for my grandson.

Our favorite house in SML
We vacation to SML every year with friends , and this house by far was our favorite . The house itself if very spacious and clean. We spent most of our time on the dock, swimming and fishing (caught a monster Carp). This was one of the few houses we have stayed in that actually had smart TVs and cable. We will definitely book again next Year!

Wonderful house! Great location
My family - three small boys spent a week at this house and it was great. The house is in a quiet cove that was great for swimming off the dock and in a nice subdivision that allowed for peaceful morning walks.
The house was clean, spacious and our bed was very comfortable. It had everything we needed and then some and the location is 5 mins to the State Park which is great.
Would def stay here again and we loved our week!

Great place to stay on the lake. Needs a little attention to cleaning up the cobwebs around the house and dock. The inside of the house was clean and well equipped. We would definitely come back.

Simply Beautiful Inside and Out!
After experiencing several life-changing events, we really needed to get away and just re-group. We chose this location because it was close enough that our children in Lexington, VA could come too. The home is beautiful and the location is perfect. Water views (from so many spaces) were gorgeous. We didn't want to leave! We were able to enjoy kayaking (brought our own, but loved that there were extras available), swimming, rented a pontoon boat at a local marina, played games on the dock, and prepared most meals at the house. The only thing that was a draw back was having to bring so much bedding and towels with us (it took up a lot of space in the car); but, that in no way hindered us from having a wonderful time. We will definitely come back. We fell in love with Smith Moutain Lake! Thank you for being such an honest host and for providing such an inviting home! God Bless You.

Away from the world
We picked SML as a meeting point for 3 gens of family to spend a quiet week together. My sister and our 2 girls and our Dad and his wife. What a magical place! The house was so comfortable with so many areas to enjoy. From coffee on the enclosed sun porch, wine and cheese on the pier, cards and movie nights in the downstairs den/bar/game room, to fire pit s’mores and epic ping pong battles. Gorgeous views of the lake made this the perfect spot. The only negative was the grill which needs to be removed or replaced immediately as it is a fire hazard that does not regulate temperature and can only be turned off at the propane tank...knobs just spin. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect lakehouse
We had the most amazing trip at this lakehouse! It's the perfect distance to the water - tons of seating and beds for whoever wants to come. We never wanted to leave! I would say the only downside is that no linens are provided. This includes things like kitchen towels or bathroom hand towels. It was a little inconvenient to have to bring our own but otherwise the house is perfect

2nd time here, looking forward to a 3rd time next year!
This was our second time staying at this property. We LOVE it! It is clean, the dock is great (and a very gentle slope) and so much space! The views out of the many windows are breathtaking and we love that everyone can spread out. Only suggestion would be to clean the grill thoroughly as it has a tendency to flare up and not work correctly. We plan to be back next year!

Summer get a way
There were 6 of us - 4 teens. House was great! More than enough room for all of us. Great location. We rented a boat for 2 days and jet skis. Owners were very responsive and quick to answer questions. Would definitely go again!

Memorial Day weekend stay
My family recently stayed at thus property for 4 nights over Memorial Day Weekend. The property is lovely, right next door to the boat launch. The house was equipped with everything that we needed and was a nice location in a quiet cove. We will be back!

Great lake house
Big house, comfy beds, good sunsets, nice deck. Pantry well stocked with spices (except salt which we bought and left), coffee and filters. Some hair and old soap in the garbage when we got there, but overall fairly clean. Will stay here again.

Lake life is good!
Great house with nice dock and close proximity to pool if you ever get tired of the lake. The only thing is that the internet was not good. took forever to down load any files, but heck I was on vacation, so the work can wait a week.

Nice Please but watch your back
This was us second trip to this home , last year we have no issues but this time was different. Home was not clean and I did report this to owner (his respond was "I will address the cleaning issues to the cleaning service ) well this did not help us at all because we did pay cleaning fee and home was not clean .
Gas grill ,Well I mentioned last year was dirty and owner did message me that grill is clean this time , Im not positive about this , each time we grilling you have to be prepared with water because it will catch fire , same problem refrigerator dirty no comment .
And last is best after we left the place we did leave better because we did clean as much we could. We live in our homes clean and we always clean up and try leave the place in good condition. After 10 days I got message from owner that we did damage the microwave , we did not use because in our personal life we just not use microwaves . Any way owner hold $ from my deposit even we did have damage insurance protection and owner should use this source of compensation ( as I mentioned before we never use microwave in this home )
Before you go to this place please document all take all pictures before you will get charge for something you never used or damage.
Vacation was full of fun but this part with owner was a drama.

Lake vacation perfection
We rented this property along with several others in the Waterways for a family reunion (30 people). The house is great, the dock is perfect for entertaining, and this was the most popular unit we rented. We’ll be back.

Great Place for all!
Great area for the kids to swim and float around! Had what we needed to make meals with plenty of options on where to sit and eat. Having two fridges was nice we kept drinks in one and food in the other. Dock was great and easy to tie up our boat to. Thanks for helping us have a great family vacation!!!

Best location!
This house is the perfect location. We brought our boat and it was so convenient with the ramp being so close. The kids loved fishing and jumping off of the dock in the morning and evening. Very clean and a great layout. We will definitely be back!

Great property and location!
We have been vacationing at SML for many years, this is our first time at this home. The home is very spacious and clean with great amenities. The lot is flat and easily accessible to the lake. If you bring your own boat, the boat launch is very close. Linens are not provided, we brought ours along with us. We will definitely return!
