We had a great stay on Burt Lake. The house was spacious and fit 14 comfortably. Plenty of bathrooms and kitchen space. We loved the lake. The house gets sun all day and the sunsets were amazing! Owner was great to work with, very attentive and helpful.
8.0 / 10.0
The house was great. very accommodating for our party of eight (six adults and two kids two years old and younger). The kitchen was huge. The host was very quick to respond and even offered some great recommendations in and around the area.
Couple of quirks or drawbacks;
1) The cleanliness was a little lacking. One of the bedrooms bedsheets definitely weren't changed prior to our arrival. When we went to turn down the sheets before bed, there was loose change and possibly ash or sand? The house appears to be lived (not listed in the overall description). As such, there are numerous closets and drawers full of random stuff / knickknacks, family photos and a fantastic beer stein collection in the basement. One of the two coffee makers had leftover coffee ground in it with some developing mold.
2) The fire pit is awfully close to brush/plants near the shoreline and the group before us left a huge pile of ash, so even if we felt brave enough to have a fire, we'd have to clean out the fire pit first.
3) Bring water shoes. There really isn't much beach, thus, it is pretty rocky. The sand is also quite mucky compared to the west side of the lake.
4) If you're renting in the summer and staying in one of the two rooms upstairs, bring a fan. I'm not sure the A/C even went on up there, but there's definitely a noticeable 20-degree difference from the main floor to the upstairs.
Overall, would definitely stay here again!

It was definitely a wonderful time spent with family! The setting was perfect, just a little disappointed with landscaping and cleanliness of house.

This property was perfect for the 14 of us. Kitchen was well stocked. The availability of the pontoon boat rental was a major plus. Very reasonable rate and allowed us to avoid the hassle of renting from a local marina. It was on the dock behind the house and ready to go when we wanted it. Nick was very responsive from the beginning of the rental process alll the way though our stay.
Nick was very responsive from the time we inquired about

The house is absolutely beautiful. It was more than big enough for the 6 of us. Beautifully decorated. Everything and anything you could possibly need was there. Nick was awesome. Made sure we had everything we needed. The views were spectacular. We sat outside and totally enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely be back. Everyone should rent this one if you even plan on going to Mackinac Island. It was close enough to Mackinaw City and other activities. Thanks Nick for everything. Awesome host. 😊

We booked the property mainly due to the size and location. The house accommodated my family of 5, along with the families of my two sisters. There were 13 of us total, the kids ages ranged 12-23. Our favorite thing about the house was all the space. There is a large kitchen area, a large living room, and a large walkout basement. This provided us the space we needed to be together and to be separate. We never felt overcrowded. We are originally from the area so we already had plans figured out for activities, although a book of local activities, restaurants and shopping would be a helpful addition (I’ve had this from other rentals). We were close enough to skiing, ice skating, and tubing. The bedrooms provided the sleeping arrangements that met our needs, with the exception of the 5th bedroom in the basement. It isn’t really a bedroom… it’s a daybed in a nook, which didn’t provide any privacy since we hung out down there a lot. We would definitely stay again, but there were a few areas that could be improved. The house, particularly the closets and cupboards, need to be cleaned and decluttered. There was old expired food and seasonings in the kitchen and a mismatch of kitchen ware. There was good stuff there, but get rid of the old and expired stuff! The towels could use a refresh… nothing matched and some were pretty thin. The place could use a good cleaning. There were cobwebs in multiple locations and the office was really dusty. Despite these things, we would go back.

House and property accommodates all that it says. Plenty of room for everyone. We had no issues at all. This is our third stay here. Plenty of room for parking. And the fall colors were right on target.

The property was very nice. Our family and friends had a great time both inside and outside the house. Plenty of space inside for folks to spread out. The yard and back porch were fun places to hang out and enjoy the views. There’s a nice little bar about 1-mile from the property. We definitely recommend staying here!

We stayed at Nick's home for 5 days we enjoyed the view and the patio as well as finished basement. It is kind of rocky and hard to have the little ones play on shore due to the overgrowth of weeds and rocks. But if you kyack out they can play in the water it is not very deep which is nice. There is a pontoon boat on site you can rent to take out and they have kyacks for you to enjoy. I felt so at home there and will most definitely try and go again. It was clean and had the essentials you would need with the exception of your shampoo, toothpaste, and spices you might use for cooking but there was pots pans silverware cups plates etc etc... We have no complaints. Except for the overgrowth of weeds that cover the walkway down from the balcony and the one's close to the firpit, and shore line. All of which are easily fixed. It is decorated differently then you might expect however that is sometimes home and I'm not one to ever critique there taste. My family and i were very impressed and grateful to have found this home. It had been labeled " our lakehouse" to make memories at. Of course i could never afford such a nice home so it's nice to just pretend even for a week.

We paid good money for our stay at this house and were expecting a first class stay, but ended up disappointed with the condition of the property. We found the following issues:
1. kitchen had a hodge podge of equipment not in great condition and put everywhere.
2.Table cloths on kitchen table had holes and looked dirty.
3.Cupboards full of food and not very clean.
4. Could not use any of the closets because they were full of stuff just thrown in there.
5. Both bedroom outside sliding door screens off the tracks.
6. Upstairs bathroom not in good shape.
7. Outside patio table had a broken leg.
8. Furniture by the firepit unusable.
9. Landscaping in very poor condition.
10. Outside of house full of dead bugs and wasp nests(4).
We called for help with wasp nests and left a message. No one returned our call.
11. Boat dock needs work. Somewhat rickety, only two people per section.
The things we liked.
1. Great location.
2. Ample parking.
3. Nice entertainment and living room furniture.
4. Plenty of room.
If the place was cleaner and equipment updated would be a nice place to stay.

The Owner was VERY responsive to any issues that arose. Air conditioning ONLY on the main floor. Picture depicts house in a more manicured state than it is now. Many windows are without screens (even upstairs where there is NO AC). Sliding doorwall screens were not in place with screen held together with scotch tape. Dock is in disrepair with some dangerously weak boards. Closets are basically unusable due to an abundance of excess goods thrown in, in no orderly fashion. Extra Scott tissue that is septic friendly was not stocked. Some dining room chairs have broken backs, etc and are in need of replacement. Is bedding laundered? Not sure, since mattress pad underneath was found to have what appeared to be fresh stains that washed out when laundered. House needs maintenance, some TLC, some organization and a thorough deep cleaning. Great location and a walk to Hoppies Tavern for fish dinners!

Overall our stay was good, but the manager might need to speak to the cleaning crew. Kitchen was not swept, dirty dishes in dishwasher. Lots of dust. No broom or dust pan to use to sweep up. Just needs a through cleaning

Home was just as excellent as the yr before. Home owner was accessible prior to check in and after and was accommodating. Plenty of room for family's, kids, babies and trucks and trailers. Lake access was easy and bar and food down Rd topped the stay off.

We stayed at the cottage for a short three day golf trip. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us and the cottage is very nice.
The best part is the view of the water! We had a great time sitting by the fire pit right on the lake. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

So much potential but the house in need of some TLC
House was not clean. There were personal items in all the closests and dressers. Personal items in all the bathrooms vanities. Floors were dirty. Kitchen was messy and dirty. Appliances were dirty. The owner stated that there was a fire pit but you could not use it because the shoreline was completely overgrown. Couldn’t open the windows in the evening to enjoy the breeze because the majority of them didn’t have screens.

Great winter spot!
We are repeat customers at Nick’s place for winter. It is always as described and the large flat screen in the bar area was an awesome addition this year! Looking forward to next time!

Perfect family stay
Plenty of room; basement bar area was fantastic! Great kitchen areas to make meals and play games on the big table. The only negative was slow WiFi! The weather was chilly so we didn’t use any of the outside options. This was a perfect family get away- plenty of places to hang out as a whole group and places to go if we needed some quiet time. Easy conversations with the host. We would stay here again.

Too many dusty nick-nacks
This would be an excellent rental if there were drawers and closets to place our clothing in and not living out of suitcase. There was way too many personal items and ever closet and drawer was filled with personal items. All fans and floors were filthy. I don’t know if they take Covid cleaning seriously. The mosquitoes were horrible as expected but the owner should make efforts to reduce this problem. They need to watch HGTV Vacation Rules

Burt lake
House was very spacious and yard was great for outdoor activities. Lots of games., books, and kids toys, but all the cue sticks for the pool table were broken. We had a later arrival bring theirs, and so were able to use the pool table. Highly recommend renting the boat also. Lake is beautiful and our family really enjoyed it and the kayaks. We would stay here again . Nick was easy to communicate with.

Great Stay
We rented this house for 3 families totaling 10 people (6 adults and 4 children). The location was perfect for what we wanted. The kids got to enjoy the beach. House is very close to a boat launch. Nick was very polite and responsive. He took care of the few minor issues we had the first day we arrived. I'd recommend if you have a large group of people as there's plenty of room for all.

Waterfront Gem for a large family gathering
This home exceeded our expectations with number of beds, plenty of bedding, views and overall rental experience. We rented in the winter and can only imagine how beautiful the view is in thr summer months. This home is a short drive off I75 and Hoppies bar was a short walk away. Thank you for allowing our family to visit your family home

Buyer beware
We had a wonderful time during our stay because we were with our family. The house is full of character, but it and the grounds have been allowed to fall into disrepair. There is plenty of living space in the house but the closets are unusable because they're stuffed with, stuff. The upstairs is not air conditioned and fans don't help that much. The pontoon is really great but the gauges don't work. My family enjoyed the kayaks as well. Tried to contact Nick several times and he never responded.

Rude owner
In my entire life I have never been spoken to so rudely, actually screamed at me; unfortunately there was a bad storm and the property trees had some server damage. We contacted the owner and he had a tree company come out. We asked if the clean up could wait until we left but the tree could but the house in jeopardy. We tried to tell the owner that we understood, but he decided to turn everything around and "play the what about me card" told us if we didn't like it to leave. I will not go further into that discussion because that's when it got abrasive.
As far as the advertised features; there is no air condition upstairs as advertise, toilet seat was broken, which they came and fixed, the house had dusty areas ie fans floors; found old popcorn hulls and food in the one couch, which they came and cleaned. We cleaned all towels that we could before leaving, we used tap water, not 60 C. (didn't realize that we needed to use hot until I was reading the features after the vacation), no check-out with a person. Disappointed for sure.
