A propos de ce maisonrental
Large, Comfortable, Retro 1970s Hillside Chalet

We stayed with our family of four and in-laws. Everything was exactly as listed. We were close to everything: downtown Waterbury, Stowe and Burlington. The 70s vibe was groovy and tons of books to explore! Hope to stay again!

My family and I stayed for 2 nights to catch the total solar eclipse. Located up on a hill with mountain views, this was a perfect location! The sunsets here were also amazing. The house definitely needs some updating/maintenance but was within our price range so we were mostly satisfied.
At 2500 square feet, there is plenty of room to spread out. The house has 3 floors - the basement is a walk out and has a small kitchen, full bathroom, a living area, 2 pull out couches/loveseats and a cot. The main floor has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, a living area, dining area, kitchen and full bath. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked all of our meals during our stay. The upstairs is accessed by spiral staircase and has 1 bedroom with twin bunk beds and a full bath but the cold-water faucet was broken. One of the bathroom faucets in the basement was also leaking. We discovered a secret room behind a bookcase upstairs so that was fun!
The garage housed the ping pong table and foosball and there is a firepit in the back behind the pool. We visited in April so the pool wasn't open yet but the gate to the pool area was not working and off its hinges. After finding some empty beer cans around, we wondered if the last guests who stayed here did not care for the property like they should have. Overall, we had a great time and also appreciated all the outdoor furniture so we could hang out and enjoy the beautiful weather and spectacular eclipse!

As advertised, a retro ski chalet from the 1970s. House has lots of room and all the basic amenities we needed for a successful long weekend stay. Great view from the front deck and the book collection is amazing.

House needs a lot of work and better cooking skillets. The outdoor pool area was fantastic and we loved the long dining table!

The location is 10/10. I loved the house and the way it is decorated. Great for a big group of people, we were about 8, and could sleep comfortably. Nice little pool area in the back. Overall a pleasant stay and very close to Ben&Jerry’s factory.

No Water Pressure and No Outdoor Lights
Although the property was described accurately we arrived later in the evening. There were no outdoor lights on, nor were we able to put those lights on once we actually accessed the house. More importantly, of the 3 showers in the house only one produced any type of water (which was actually a drip.) It was impossible to take a shower, especially for someone who has long hair. The kitchen sink had a similar issue. So basically only one person of four was able to take a shower. Additionally, there was no actual firewood in the house, twigs or paper to create a fire in the fireplace. Overall an expensive not so great experience. When I contacted the property owner about my concerns and requested a partial refund I received no response whatsover. I will be contacting my credit card company

Unpredictable
Reservation was cancelled the morning of our arrival, requiring us to scramble to find accomodations while we were on the road. Property looked nice but this was not responsible management and left us in a tough spot. Review above requires me to comment on aspects of "the stay" I couldn't actually evaluate (cleanliness of property, accuracy of listing) and I rated those areas as 3 by default.

Great place to stay.
We really had a good time at this house. It looks so authentic and cozy. And we found everything we need there(From towels to kitchen utensils). And its really close to ski resort . We totally enjoyed our time there and would strongly recommend it.

Wonderful location and views, could have better communication
The home itself was large and would be great for a large group. The description in the listing of the dated decor was spot on. If that doesn't bother you then this is a nice, large place to stay. Updated kitchen upstairs, laundry and several bedrooms/bathrooms. The view was great! The check-in process and communication could have been better. Usually check-in process/info is sent by owners days in advance, but we didn't receive it until about an hour before we were able to check-in and only after reaching out several times for the information before our arrival. This did cause a bit of stress prior to arrival. The house was generally clean with some cobwebs in parts, but overall we had a nice stay here.

Great ski weekend
We were a group of friends on a ski weekend. This was a great location, Waterbury had several good restaurant options. We skied Stowe Mountain one day and Sugarbush the other. The house was central to both.
We loved the retro house it was comfortable and accommodated our large group well.

Funky house, great location
We fit nicely in this big, quirky house. It was perfectly located 20 min to sugarbush and 2 min to Waterbury. Recommend a good deep clean tho. Things were not as clean and cobweb free as we would have liked.

This chalet is an awesome throwback to the 70’s with all modern comforts of the 21st century!
We had so much fun discovering all the different items in the house! Even the toaster from the 70’s still works! The views are awesome! We played games and danced all weekend! Thank you Tim for keeping this chalet in pristine condition despite its age. Will be back ! Great spot for a lot of ski mountains and half hour from BURLINGTON!

Great house with a lot of character
We stayed here one night during our ski trip to Stowe. It was only 30 min away from the slopes and right next to a Shaw's grocery store. Had no issues with this place, Tim is a great host. Very dainty and unique atmosphere. "Retro" is indeed a good way to describe it. It's three stories and very spacious, perfect for large groups. We would recommend this place to anyone swinging by the area.
