The space worked well for our family, and bedrooms were all great for A/C. Everyone loved having the pool with the view, and honestly the pictures didn't quite do it justice IMO. Beaches on the island were amazing and they had so much gear available to make the beach day better (chairs, cooler, umbrella, ect.) We would stay here again!
4.7
This home is convenient to town & near the ferry terminal, as well as a variety of local amenities such as markets and restaurants. Although the main living area isn't air conditioned (which is common in the Caribbean), the AC in the bedrooms work great. The pool is as beautiful as it looks in the listing and provides views of amazing sunsets.
4.7
We stayed for 3 nights, there were 8 of us; 4 adults, 2 13 year olds and 2 10 year olds. Kids enjoyed the pool. We appreciated the short walk from the ferry. (less than 10 minutes and doable with rolling suitcases).

We stayed here for 6 days at the end of April 2024.
And this property is the definition of balling on a budget.
The pool was great!
The views were great!
The house was good…
It was basic, with ac in the bedrooms, basic kitchen,
Basic living room, basic bathrooms.
With all the beach items you could need included!
Hope this helps.

This is a beautiful property and the pool alone is worth the stay. The local "grocery" is only a 5-10 minute walk from the house. (I suggest the Family Market over the Supermercado.) We had a problem with mosquitoes when we arrived due to the previous renters leaving doors open but the owners and property manager (Amanda) were quick to fix the problem and were warm and inviting.
A few tips before you arrive: Purchase your Ceiba to Vieques (and return) ferry tickets well in advance. They sell out quickly and your can't purchase them on the same day. Also, rent any vehicles (car or golf cart) before your arrival (We used UTV rentals). Finally, the beach in front of the property is very rocky and not great for swimming. Playa Caracus (Red Beach) was the best for our family. Some waves, pristine beach and friendly locals.
Our stay was unbelieveable and I highly recommed it! The house has all of the amentities of home (WiFi, TV, new kitchen, A/C) but we spend 90% of our time in the pool and enjoying that sunset. We LOVE this house!!

The property has a great view of the ocean. It’s close to town and has beach items like lawn chairs and boogie boards…
It was raining when we arrived, and two of the ceilings were leaking water and there was water seeping in one of the back doors.
The cleanliness of the house was lacking. I walked from the shower to my room and my feet were black. The floor in the kitchen was sticky as was the microwave handle and the edges of several plates and bowls.
If maintenance was done on a regular basis and an occasional deep clean the place could be a gem.
4.7
We were in Vieques for a 9 day stay and wanted to find a place that was affordable and had a pool. Coconut Cay was the PERFECT place. The hosts were super helpful with all of my questions and the house did not disappoint!
Not to mention it had the most gorgeous view from the pool on the patio. We could not have chosen a better home. And, we will be back.

Pros:Pool was the gem of this rental. We were excited to jump in and cool off and just enjoy the amazing views and calming sounds. Walking distance to town and ferry. Lots of local shops with great food, coffee and drinks. Horses stop by each morning what a beautiful sight. Very spacious check in process easy Cons: Listed as beach/ocean front however no actual access to beach on the property. Air conditioning only in the bedrooms the house was very hot. Roosters woke us up every day at 4 am . Definitely need a vehicle to get to any of the beaches this should be listed on the website. Order tickets for the ferry online ahead of time. They give priority to residents so if you don't have a ticket and ferry is booked you may be bumped and potentially will not get on. We ended up having to rent a private charter boat at 800.00 to make it to the island for our reservation. The place could use some TLC The microwave has duct tape on it and one of the patio doors was not able to be opened to let in the fresh breeze. The house manager was not available when we called her she was at a Dr. Appt on the mainland told us nothing she could do about ants, roaches, and water pressure and we never heard from her again. We are pretty easy going /adaptable so enjoyed our vacation / home regardless.

A peace of heaven, a trip of a lifetime!! Coconut Cay is a beautiful property and Lucy , Nikki and the crew were fantastic!! It’s all we expected and much more!!! Cannot say enough good about Coconut Cay and Vieques Island!!! We shall return!!!

Getting to the house is not the a nice scenery, but the property is great. The only down side is that the property is an oven . It was hotter inside the house than outside. After a hot day all you want is to cool off and it's impossible to do that with out A/C. Also the microwave didn't work. Other than that it was. Great place to stay

Loved the pool and outdoor areas right on the water! Went to sleep each night to the sound of the waves. Location is in a neighborhood just outside Isabel, which has a few places to eat, grocery stores, the ferry, and shops. 15-minute drive to Esperanza and 15-20 to a variety of stunning beaches. Beach in front of house didn’t look like a good place to swim, but you can’t stay on the nicer beaches anyway. Wild horses meander by the house from time to time. House has quality beach chairs/umbrellas and some nice floats for the pool. AC in bedrooms was appreciated and worked well/quiet. Beds comfortable! House is an excellent value and we were very comfortable there!
4.7
There is no better location. But the property itself is in need of some maintenance and repair. Windows and doors that don't open/close/lock properly, kitchen appliances that don't function properly, a ceiling fan with 1/2 the blades missing. A clogged bathroom drain that the prop mgr refused to address. The worst part is that the owner was made aware of most of these issues when I was last there in Aug, but the issues remained 5 months later when I returned.
4.7
We stayed here for a few days to relax and enjoy Vieques. Easy walking distance from the ferry or to town. Quiet neighborhood with beautiful views. Pool was terrific but no direct beach access. That's not a problem with easy car/golf cart rental. Got one for two days and visited some beautiful beaches. Definitely able to wind down and relax!
4.7
Coconut Cay is a charming home and perfectly located on the ocean in a friendly (but quiet) residential neighbor just outside of the vibrant town of Isabel Segunda. The home is well equipped for long stays. The endless view of the ocean from the swimming pool is hard to beat. We loved it here and have already planned our return.
4.7
Nice quiet location with a pool
A beautiful house about a 5-10 minute walk from the ferry to Ceiba. Little grocery stores and restaurants. Pleasant to walk around. El Yate was great for food, a 5 minute walk from the house. Beaches and party places are about a 20 minute drive from the house. You have to rent a vehicle. It is wonderfully quiet. The bedrooms have AC, but not the main rooms of the house. Washer and dryer are great!!

We stayed at Coconut Cay with our family of 5 (3 kids - ages 15, 14, and 11). This ended up being a great home base for our 4 day stay in Vieques.
Positives:
Great communication with owners before arrival.
Very close to the ferry - 10 minute walk. The ferry was right on time and so economical - book tickets ahead of time for $2 each.
View from pool deck is very picturesque with the waves crashing in the distance.
The home is bigger than it appears in the pictures - lots of space for larger families to relax in the living room, patio area, around the pool.
The pool is also much larger than it looked and great for relaxing after exploring.
Wild horses come to greet you at the property and we always felt safe in the area.
Walkable distance to Black Beard sports where we took a Bioluminescent Bay tour.
Beach chairs and umbrella being provided was really convenient.
Challenges
Many tiles missing from the pool bottom and sides. I wasn't too worried about it at first, but then my son ripped his hand open pretty good on the sharp edges - we luckily avoided stitches and stopped the bleeding but it was a pretty bad cut. This seems like a fixable problem that would greatly enhance the pool experience.
There were multiple areas of cleanliness that were overlooked when we had arrived - moldy coffee remaining in the coffeemaker; two grease filled pans that hadn't been washed in the oven; the counter was sticky with something sweet - lots of ants and it caused any paper that was put on it to peel off. We ended up cleaning all of these areas ourselves but they seemed like basic things that could have been improved.
Also, the microwave didn't work.
Recommendations
We thought we could get away with our three days without a car but we ended up renting a Ford Bronce and are very glad we did so. With the vehicle, we could access the more remote beaches so much more easily. La Playa de Chiva (Blue Beach) is awesome for a secluded beach for young kids. If you park at spot 9 or 10 you can even walk across to the small island on the sandbar.
Snorkeling - bring your own snorkel gear (although there is some basic gear provided) and drive to Punta Arenas (Green Beach). If you're good swimmers you can swim out near the white buoy (or just follow the snorkel tour groups). We saw sea turtles, sting rays, tons of tropical fish, and there was even a nurse shark (harmless).
Overall, it was a great place to stay on Vieques for our family.

nice place
The property was well maintain, needs some TLC on the shower tiles, where not to clean.
Everything else was in really good shape, and was well equipped we didn't need to bring to much stuff.
We will rent it again

Worth every penny. Simple yet so complete.
We had an amazing time using Coconut Cay as our base of operations in Vieques. Beautiful location, great pool to cool down after a long day at the beach. Give yourself a break and stay here. Great host, great place. Great vibe.

Very nice property in a beautiful location. Everything was as advertised and we all had a wonderful time.

I cannot say enough about Coconut Cay. The house is very well kept and the attention to detail makes it feel like a home away from home. The rooms are spacious with powerful air conditioner units that cool things down quickly for a peaceful sleep. The washer and dryer were super helpful. It was also very convenient that quality beach chairs and towels are at the house to use. The view from the back patio is incredible. The pool was a welcome oasis after days of exploring the island. I would recommend this house to anyone and would love to go back again!

Wonderful family getaway
Coconut cay was relaxing and an amazing spot for our entire family! My FIL (Puerto Rican himself) enjoyed walking the streets everyday and talking with people he met along the way. Our kids loved the pool and enjoyed time out of the sun playing various games in the living room or taking advantage of the availability of Netflix lol. My husband and I loved the fact that the ocean was right there. We even enjoyed the blackout and how it forced us to put away our electronics and just be together (the stars were amazingly bright during the blackout!)

Property had a great view and plenty of space! The owners and property manager was very attentive and had good communication. We would definitely rent the house again!

2nd Stay at Coconut Cay
We love the location.
This year we had a few problems- terrible mosquitoes, the air conditioning in master bedroom stopped working for a few days, and the pool filter stopped and the pool completely drained.
Thankfully, my husband googled and videoed what was going on with each problem, and was able to relay to homeowner and caretaker all the problems, which, I must say on their behalf, were all resolved eventually.
Was just a bummer to have to deal with any house problems when you’re on vacation.

We loved Vieques and had a wonderful time at Coconut Cay. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. Loved the view and the pool. Nice breezes kept us cool and we were able to find shade at different times during the day with the back and side seating arrangements. The location was perfect for us as we were able to walk into town and also to a nearby beach. We also had plenty of room to park our car off of the street. Everyone we met was helpful and friendly. Nikki/James/Lucy were quick to respond to any of our questions and assisted us any way they could. Will definitely come back to this house.

The neighborhood is a little rough great location for ferry but that brings traffic on horrific roads
There is no cable tv , when a property lists tv most people assume cable tv not Netflix
The house was a little unkempt
Lights that don’t work countertops old and cracked as well as bathrooms very old and the shower floors are terrible, we wore our flip flops to shower
They may have been as clean as one could get them but they’re old and stained if not dirty
The pool is nice but many tiles missing , so a hazard to the feet
The doors are metal and don’t hang correctly so they bang really loud every time you close them
Kitchen appliances a little used but hardly any utensils especially for the grill
Many many mice
We opened the cabinets with a broom after a couple of insindents with mice jumping out at you when opened
They got into our food first night so all groceries stored in freezer stove or microwave
Frozen nacho Doritos are. A Must ! An excellent accidental discovery
On a busy street
Owner did buy us things that were advertised but not there like beach chairs and umbrella, but we had to go get them and find them
View is amazing and you learn to live with what it is , very warm and sunny in the middle of winter overlooking the Atlantic Ocean

My family of 5 adults had a blast over Christmas 2021 on Vieques and in this property. It is so cute and comfortable. Spacious and well equipped with all we needed to enjoy our 5 day stay. The pool was amazing and the view was stunning. Did not want to leave! The location was very convenient to the little town of Isabel Segundo. We enjoyed exploring the different beaches on the island, dining out at the various restaurants and the Bio Bay tour with AquaSunsetters was a highlight of the trip. Do not miss it! We had two dive trips with Isla Nuna Dive group, rode horses on the beach with Colon Horseback riding. Rented a jeep from Island Jeep-a definite necessity. Every restaurant we tried was delicious but I want to mention that Coqui Fire Cafe in Isabel was fantastic. We also ate at Bugas, Duffy's, Bananas and Lazy Jacks. All were excellent. Don't miss the art studio and gallery in Isabel Segundo-Gallery Vieques, Siddha Hutchinson/Glen Wielgus. My son rented a scooter from Fun Brothers in Esperanza and enjoyed scooting all over the island.
Getting back to Coconut Cay.....like I mentioned earlier we did not want to leave. What a cute and charming beach house!

Cannot wait to come back!
The house was clean and the pictures are not the same. It is much better in person.
We rested well and the pool is large and the view is amazing. Lucy was amazing and went above and beyond what she needed to. And then theres the island. Vieques is beautiful! We will definitely be back!

We were here as a 3-sisters trip. This place was perfect! We really enjoyed the pool and relaxed in it after our days ventures.

Nice view with even nicer visitors. The local islander horses will come in the yard to graze. So cute

Fantastic property and owner…
We just finished 4 fantastic days at the house in Vieques. The house is wonderful, and just as listed. It’s just north of the ferry terminal, in a very easy 3-5 minute walk. (The ferry was a separate adventure, which resulted in us arriving at 10:00 at night. Just be patient with the ferry, be flexible on your schedule, and you’ll be just fine). The pool at the house is quite large and fantastic, and the view is just incredible. Especially the sunsets. There are two areas to the deck/patio, ensuring you can always find sun or shade, and there are plenty of lounge chairs and regular chairs, all with cushions. The bedrooms were big, each with A/C. The two baths were clean and nice. The kitchen is fully stocked, and the fridge/freezer wirked great. And there’s a very big family room, although we did t spend much time there. Note there are only fans in the living areas, but between the fans and the breeze, it was never an issue. We also had horses wander up and down the street, and got quite close to the house - they were quite calm and docile so no worries there. It was quite cool. All in all, we highly recommend this place. The owners communicated great and Lucy, the local, was very attentive and helpful during our stay.
