Great proximity to the beach

What's Good: The Host is super responsive. We had issues and they responded right away and were ready with solutions that made a difference in our stay (many thanks to Kristen and Sara!!). The location and the beach are great. What's Bad: We rented specifically because the pool was right outside the door. The pool was broken and remained broken for our entire stay(not the fault of the host), but would have been nice to have been alerted and not walked into a situation where we had to try to figure out what was going on with the pool. There are other pools but they are not as convenient the down pool essentially it caused crowding of other pools and impacts on others' stays. Next, if you are in need of using the elevator, and it's your first impression it's a really bad first impression; dirty, run-down, rusted, and "down" at least twice during our stay. The back deck was "unuseable" per the host on the second to last day of our stay... totally would have been helpful to know it was structurally unsound the 5 days prior when we used it... a good thing nothing happened, but it created stress, nonetheless. What's Ugly: The unit is dated and comes with its own distinct odor; the host is aware based on some A.C issue. That would have been nice to know that ahead of our arrival... The bank of drawers to the right of the dishwasher smells horrible (we washed all utensils AND the drawers themselves the smell is baked in). The cabinets above the stove are broken. The unit needs a refresh. Really minor stuff- and totally worth the investment for the host given the weekly rate. Access doors for plumbing are common, holes in the walls are not necessary for plumbing access. The pictures are misleading- the pic with the two twins is inaccurate - it's trundle beds ( If you read the description prior to reviewing the pics you'll see the mention, but if you look at the pics and then see the mention you'll miss it, your brain can't help it...) Weekly Rate: Not worth it, especially with the broken pool & given the overall inventory. We would have changed our week and we absolutely would have paid another 500-750 if we were able to walk into a clean, decently appointed condo without smelly, broken cabinets. Once we realized what we were dealing with we looked at other units in the complex that are slightly more expensive but in much better shape.

Can’t wait to see the additional improvements they make over the next year. We will keep checking

Floor was absolutely filthy

This was perfect for my sister and I and our 3 kids (ages 3, 1 and 1). Apartment was clean and had plenty of room, super easy walk to the beach with an outdoor shower to rinse off all the sand. It's also an easy walk to the fort Fisher walkway which is a beautiful stroll in the evening. Shops and ice cream are a quick drive away. The beach was pristine and not too crowded. The entire place is well kept. The apartment has everything you could want (including kid plates and silverware), check-in was very easy. We will definitely be back!

We thought that this condo was beach front but it wasn’t unfortunately. Also there were painters outside of the windows all day long who could see inside. Creepy. Then we couldn’t use the balcony because the paint was wet. The hot tub was closed and couldn’t be used at all. The beach was a walk across the street which was hectic for us since we had children with us. The condo itself is nice but we would have preferred beach front with no creepy painters and a hot tub.

Great location. Across the street from the beach. Loved the indoor and outdoor pool as well as the hot tub. Very close to Carolina Beach.

We really enjoyed the property!! It was clean the owner responded back in a reasonable time . The beach access was right across the street . There’s only one issue there isn’t a broom and a dust pan to sweep up the sand on the floor .i do plan on returning soon if the property is available, I’m just gone bring my own broom with me lol

I polled the adults in our group. The consensus was a rating of about 4. 4 is good but could be better - just like this unit. We liked the neighborhood very much - quiet and out of the way. We also liked the pool, beach access, a/c, washer/dryer, wifi, beach toys/chairs, elevator, rec center, parking, check in/out. We had a fun time, but for the price that is being charged for this 3rd row rental we would have liked a couple of improvements. The stove is difficult to operate. Sorry Karl but it is. Furniture needs a spruce up - dressers were missing knobs and paint and even some nails sticking out of one of them at little kid level. Large hole in the wall in the closet covered with cardboard. Plywood added to the deck likely meant as a temporary repair is coming up causing a trip hazard. Nowhere to wipe your wet beach feet or to step onto out of the shower - another slip hazard. A couple of cheap floor mats would remedy. The unit doesn't really accommodate 8. It has beds and dining area seating for 6. There are a couple of leaky blow up mattresses. So 2 kids in our group essentially slept on the floor. So, as I said, we had fun and the owner was easy to work with. But, for the money we would hope to have some of these issues resolved next time.

Stayed with family and grandparents and it was ideal for a long weekend with kids. Quiet location, across the road from beach access, outdoor pool and use of indoor pool and gym (helpful on a rainy day). Enjoyed evenings on the balcony. Great wifi and TV options. Yes it is dated but for a beach rental at this cost, with a pool and rec options and when you have kids with you, it's all you need.

Renting with Karl is easy. Condo has 3 good sized rooms. Most amenities you want. Pools are good, walk to Beach is easy. There's an elevator for the large loads. Parking is good. The beach right across the street is a bit rocky. Kids enjoy the novelty of it, it can be rough if you trip on one. There's one TV and no DVD player. Beds and sheets are quite comfortable, especially for a rented place. Wi-Fi is good. The top floor patio is nice. We didn't experience any problems.

My wife and I chose Kure for grandsons 4 and 6 to enjoy ocean for first time. It was great. We had a couple minor issues with property but owner and local manager reacted immediately to correct. We will use VRBO again based upon our experience.

This was a perfect "weekend at the beach" place for two grandparents, one son and two grandchildren. Great communication from owner.

Went for Memorial Day vacation and was impressed by the cleanliness and coziness of the room. Nice, quiet, complex with quick access to the beach. We'll be going back!

Excellent location across the street from the beach with easy access. Enjoyed having a pool and grills on the property. The unit is small and only sleeps 6. Decor is dated and can use updating. Didn’t spoil our fun. Really enjoyed our stay

Place was clean and ready. We had 7 girls staying here the location was perfect for the beach. The condo was very homie.

Holes in bedroom wall where shelving originally existed. Difficult turning off stove burner. Had to pour water in bathroom toilet after previous user since it took too long to refill tank. Dryer did not dry very well. We had a good time at beach. Just was disappointed that pictures on VRBO was somewhat misleading.

Had a great time. Property in a great location. Condo was clean with everything needed. We did not have to waste time shopping for household items. Pool was very well maintained. We will return.

It was a great week and a perfect spot, sat in the sun in the afternoon on the private deck after the sun had left the beach. Everything you need was at your finger tips.

Perfect location if you want to be away from traffic and noise. Beach and boat launch is close by. The recreational facilities were wonderful to use on cold mornings or evenings. I plan to return in the future. Thank you Karl

Location provides many options with the beach across street; outdoor pool within steps of condo; rec center nearby with indoor pool, sauna, tennis court .. Overall an excellent value for money! Owner extremely gracious and response couldn't be quicker! Hope to visit again!

Nice Condo with awesome pool and great beach access. The place has lots of amenities for all ages and away from major traffic but convenient to everything, especially pier, aquarium and historic fort fisher park on south end of island.

We had a great vacation staying in Karl's condo! The space was perfect and the kitchen was fully stocked to cook. We even used the grill by the pool one night. The kids loved the huge indoor pool and the staff were all really nice! It's a very short walk right across the street to the beach with a place to rinse your feet on the way back. We also really enjoyed Fort Fisher and the ferry ride right down the road. We would definitely stay here again!

stayed with karl during the blues festival great location. loved the hardwood floors and the tile work in the bath. Dow road best kept secret on island came out at the food lion in Carolina beach. Karl was very helpful with whatever we requested. we would stay there again

Only concerns: need to specify clearly the bedding situation and fix toilet (weak flushing)! Also directions were not clear as we thought it was directly on the beach! Overall: easy access to pool and beach; Quiet location! Easy access to restaurants and places to shop!

Will stay again.

This was our first time to Kure Beach and we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. We were in town for our daughter's engagement photos and had lots of questions but Mr. Buchanan couldn't have been any more helpful in answering each and every one. One of the places we wanted to do pictures was Fort Fisher so it was in the perfect location. There were 8 of us and it was also the perfect size for us. Thank you Mr. Buchanan for a wonderful place to stay and all of your helpfulness. You made our engagement trip the best experience ever!
