We could not have been more looked after by Lakmal, Mithun, Lasantha and Kamal who made sure our every need was catered for whilst we stayed at villa blu. From organising safari and beach trips to cooking the most delicious seafood and amazing breakfasts everyone was so attentive and made our honeymoon very special ❤️ the villa itself is also incredible with high end fixtures and fittings, amazing rainforest shower and a gorgeous pool with views of the beach. Would highly recommend

Hidden gem right in front of the beach! The villa is well equipped and perfect to relax and have a good time. The best part was the staff and their customer service! They made our stay an unforgettable stay!

Modern and stylish villa with a wonderful team. Great chef and the best rice and curry. Dont hesitate to ask Kamal for food recomendation, we had great langust which is not in a menu.

The whole stay was just brilliant! From our arrival till we left the whole little team (Kamal, Lasantha, Lakmal and Mithun) made sure that we felt great ever second of our stay. As the hotel has only 5 rooms it feels like a little family there! The beaches are almost empty and it’s wonderful for a walk in the morning! Would hardly recommend to stay here when in Tangalle!

Nice and cosy villa with everything you need in one space. The team is very welcoming and the manager, Kamal, does everything he can to make you happy. The ocean is not swimmable but the pool is large enough to swim.

Everything. From the moment we made the booking Kamal, the head of house, was superb. He arranged our transport to and from the airport and even found us a Christmas lunch to go to. The service from Kamal, Lasanka, Mithun, Lakmal was outstanding, thank you guys The villa is beautifully located, right on the beach in a quiet area. It was decorated in a modern style which suited us and has an amazing pool with more than enough loungers and seating areas The views are fanstastic. The bedrooms we stayed in were so well appointed and again the style was faultless, especially the bathrooms. Very comfy beds and always made to perfection the next day by Lakmal. There are plenty of things to do in the nearby areas and some really great restaurants and all accessible with a short 30 to 40 minute taxi ride. Again Kamal arranges everything. We loved the experience at Villa Blu and will definitely come back.

a real luxury boutique hotel, all the attention to the smallest detail is on 4/5 rooms. they do the impossible to please any request.

Kamal and his team at Villa Blu totally exceeded our expectations. From the beautiful decor and stunning views to the exceptional service. Villa Blu is definitely a must-stay place when you come to Sri Lanka. We were the only guests in the villa during our stay, so, it is safe to say that we were spoilt! The staff went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They were friendly, attentive and professional. Kamal, the manager, made our stay very smooth and relaxing. He helped us plan our excursions so all we had to do was show up on time. He kept periodically checking in if we were happy or needed anything. His communication and hospitality were excellent, just like the rest of his team. The villa itself was absolutely beautiful. It was incredibly clean and well-kept. We felt at peace when relaxing by the pool or lounging about in the common rooms. Our room, although small, was comfortable and cosy. The bed was very comfortable and decently sized. We had one of our best night's sleep in that room - it was like magic! The bathroom was decently sized with a massive rain shower. The included breakfast was a great way to start the day. Fresh fruit, juice and a selection of western and Sri Lankan-style breakfasts to choose from. We were always completely stuffed in the mornings. We booked this for our anniversary and Kamal and his team made our last night incredibly special. They went to great lengths to organise a candlelight dinner near the beach with pretty fairy lights, and balloons and they even moved an entire tree to decorate for us! They were ever so kind to upgrade us to the suite which was an incredible room both in size and ambience. The bathroom in this room was amazing - the shower was one of the best showers I've been in! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and didn't want to leave, it was like paradise. Thank you Kamal and team for making our stay thoroughly enjoyable and magical!

- The al-carte menu for lunch and dinner was limited and a little pricey. - The rain shower in our room didn't work as expected, but after letting Kamal and his team know it was fixed within the hour. - The location is quite isolated and the nearest city is a 45min cab ride away.

The staff and the location made this visit worthwhile. iIt has an absolutely beautiful beachfront location with truly stunning views of the sea. The manager Kamal was always checking to see if there was anything that we needed and all the staff were very attentive. We were lucky enough to have the Villa to ourselves for 3 out of the 4 nights we stayed there.

Rooms are a bit on the small side

We arrived a little early at this property, as we were not booked in until 1400, but this wasn't a problem and our room was quickly made available to us. Our room was very luxurious with a beautiful bathroom and the most amazing rain fall shower. The view from our room was a spectacular view of the miles of beach that could be accessed from the bottom of the garden. The staff were all superb and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, sadly we only got two of their names, Lakmal and Mithun and the Chef Roshan deserves a special mention, as we had some of the best Hoppers and Sri Lankan breakfast that we have had anywhere, and all other meals were of the same standard, as were all the additional extras that the staff provided as part of the service. Whilst we were here, we also visited Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary and had a lovely relaxing few hours being punted around the waterways, seeing some amazing and varied birds, and we also visited the Turtle Conservation Project (Rekawa) where we witnessed turtles laying their eggs before returning to the sea. We also drove to Mirissa to watch the Blue Whales, which we were very lucky to see in abundance. The pool table was an added bonus, which we appreciated along with the intimacy of the property.

Wifi wasn't the best at this property, and we didn't have wifi for the majority of our stay, but this was a minor triviality compared to the rest of what we received. We did feel that a 'Do Not Disturb' sign would be beneficial, for those moments you do not wish to be disturbed lol

bit of a distance from anything else

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Blu :) The hotel has a nice design, the rooms are lovely. You have a direct access to the beach, which is awesome. You have to consider that you have big waves in that area so swimming wouldn’t work, but you can still go inside the water and have fun with the waves. As long as you don’t go too far. The breakfast is really nice. You always get a big fruit platter and can chose between some other things like eggs, oat meal, pancakes or Sri Lankan breakfast. Most of the time we had dinner at the hotel, and the food was really delicious. Especially the „prawns“ as a starter :) we loved them. The hotel manager and the workers did their best to make us feel home, they were very helpful. At our last day they even made a sandwich box for us for the 3 hours ride to the airport. We really appreciated that. If you wanna go to other places, they organize a driver for you. Most of the time we took a TukTuk to go to the beaches around. We highly can recommend the Hiriketiya Beach (45minutes away). We really appreciated the fact that there were only maximum 4 other guests in the hotel, so you really could enjoy the quietness and have nice long walks at the beach by sunset without anyone being around.

As I said, there are big waves in that area, and you also hear them in the night. My partner didn’t have problems with it, but I couldn’t sleep at all without ear plugs. So consider to bring ear plugs if you are a little bit sensitive with noises. The rooms and the hotel in general are clean, but there are small details where they could put a little bit more care. For example we had some leftovers from the last hotel guests in our bathroom (they apologized for that), or some of the seats around the pool are not in the best condition any more.

Wonderful hotel to relax. The staff and service is excellent. We would definitely come back.

Very quiet relaxing 1-night stay. The staff were exceptional, very attentive. There was access to beautiful beach for a walk via the garden. Sri lankan dinner was delicious, would highly recommend.

Not enough time!

Wow, this place is simply amazing! Right on the beachfront, the whole villa is really beautiful, wheter it is a pool area, dining space or lobby area. They even have a snooker table! This place is great for couples as well as for a group of friends. Every room has a wonderful view and the food here is just amazing. Mr Kumara and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Always around to fulfill your needs, yet discreet and unnoticeable. We are really planning to come back here as soon as we come back to Sri Lanka.

There is nothing to dislike.

The location overlooking an endless beach is marvelous, and it is a small boutique hotel with just 5 rooms, so not crowded at all. The staff was exceptionally friendly and caring, while at the same time unobtrusive. They noticed that we liked trying new tastes, so they offered us woodapple and different types of coconut rotti - special thanks to Mithum and Lakmal! We're looking forward to coming back.

We spent four nights of our honeymoon trip at Villa Blu and we had a really great time there. It’s situated at a beautiful and lonely beach, perfect to enjoy some alone time. The interieur is carefully chosen and well maintained. For some days we were actually the only guests and the staff was very attentive and caring, especially the manager Sujeewa, as well as Lakmal and Mithun. The food was also delicious and diverse, we had fresh seafood an fish every day. we even got a free update for our honeymoon. Thank you very much!

Absolutely idyllic intimate villa where you essentially feel like you have the villa to yourself (plus a few other people) and very helpful staff to help and cook for you at anytime. Located next to a beautiful, empty beach. Room was superb, one of the best showers we've ever had! Have the catch of the day in the evening. Perfect for a totally detached and relaxing stay for a couple.

Wine was very expensive which we didn't realise until the bill came!

it felt like home away from home…. we got to know the staff and the service felt very personal. very comfortable beds and great shower. the food was on the whole very good - the seafood platter being the stand-out dish for us. the Sri Lankan breakfast also definitely worth trying. also the banana fritters! the beach is gorgeous and worth a dip in the rolling waves especially in the morning when the surf wasn’t as high. the harbour is worth a walk to see the fishermen bringing their catch in every morning.

The staff at Villa Blu were extremely thoughtful - pampering us with drinks during the day and even organising a romantic dinner for us as we were on our honeymoon. The hotel is very intimate and nicely decorated. We felt as if we were staying in our own beach house. We definitely recommend it, especially if you like to relax on a beach that is almost private.

Everything was great.

Such a beautiful open and airy modern villa, which at times felt like our own private place. Very relaxed atmosphere with lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for you. Gorgeous pool.

Food was only ok, however the manager Sujeewa was excellent at dealing with any issue. Drinks were pricey compared to other places but cocktails, especially the ginger cocktail, were lovely.

This was a real 5 star experience at its best! We (a couple of 2 Germans) had an amazing stay at Villa Blu. The place is amazing with a fantastic view, the rooms are excellent, and the food was delicious! Although their staff and service are what made it so distinguished and such an exceptional experience to us - they are extraordinarily attentive, friendly, skilled and always in a good mood. Fulfilling all of our wishes, remembering every little detail -from how we enjoy our breakfast to odd habits such as us preferring to drink beer out of wine glasses ;) - made it so warm and personal. Fantastic stay - will definitely come back when in Sri Lanka
