We were so impressed with the cabin. There are twinkly lights on the front and back porch. There is mood lighting all through the cabin, a couple switches in the loft, the kitchen, and the living room where you can dim the lights to your liking. 10/10 on mood lighting. The place was fully stocked. All cooking utensils and bathroom necessities. We did not bring a pet but the place is set up so cute for a little furry friend. There is a ton of seating everywhere, in the living room and outside. The location is perfect. It's just out of the way so you feel alone but it's only 5 minutes away from the state parks. The skylights are awesome. The tall ceiling made the place feel massive. There are lights for the stairs so you can go downstairs safely at night without blinding anyone awake. I loved all the complimentary items left out for coffee, tea, shower, laundry. They really thought everything out. The heat worked well and there were extra space heaters and fans if needed. Grill was nice. We didn't end up making a fire inside but they had kindling and wood ready to go. There was a Keurig and drip coffee, a toaster, a popcorn machine, you name it. They had books and games and plenty of blankets. Such a cozy, romatic little getaway. The communication was especially impressive. We were checked in on both by the automated system and by a local rep. Responses were immediate and friendly. Would definitely come back. There's room for a hottub outside hint hint, but we were so pleased!

We meet up with friends that have a cabin during the daytime, so a quiet place to sleep is welcome at the end of the day.

We stayed over a long weekend. Absolutely loved the location and the cottage. It was wonderful to bring our dog with us on a vacation for the first time - he loved it, too! We heard owls and coyotes; saw blue herons, bunnies, and small birds; and enjoyed sitting on the patio in the shadow of the hemlock, cedar, maple, madrone, and Douglas-fir trees. (The view from the bathroom at sunset is incredible, too!) The cottage was thoughtfully appointed for guests and we appreciated the extra touches for our furry friend! My only wish was having a pair of binoculars to get a better view of the wildlife, but I can bring my own in the future. We would definitely stay here again.

The Writer's Cottage was beautiful and very well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay and loved the peace and quiet of the island. Everything that we needed was provided for us and was easy to find. The only minor issues that we experienced were the 2-front porch/deck lights were burnt out, so we had to borrow a bulb from the bathroom in order for us to be able to utilize the front porch/deck at night. We also would prefer if there were curtains or blinds on the front and back doors for security and privacy reasons. In the description of the property, I believe that it states that the state parks are within walking distance from the cottage. This is somewhat misleading and confusing because the parks are not within walking distance from the cottage. It would be helpful if a map or directions were provided to inform guests on how to get to the state parks. Other than that, everything was great, and we definitely plan on returning!

Everything was delightful and exceptional decor. Would recommend turning up the heat on very cold temperatures prior to guests arrival. The staff tried to be helpful but timing was difficult due to Friday night activities. Very cold for the first three hours.

A lovely quiet cabin, well-equip and lovingly decorated. We especially enjoyed the porch with so many birds joining our morning coffee. Also the mile walk to the beach is a treat--only the first part is on the road, it quickly connects with a lovely hike through cedars, firs and hemlocks. Don't miss it!

This cute little cottage was perfect for an extended NYE weekend. It was very cozy, clean and very chic and rustic. I also loved that it was so quiet and peaceful in the hidden forest. I only wish they would’ve had champagne flutes and perhaps a bit more comfortable bed and pillows and a dishwasher, but none of it was a deal breaker. It was a superb experience and we even got a complimentary early check-in! I very much recommend this place, and would go back in the summer!

We were here on a gorgeous Fall October weekend for a wedding on Cama beach. This was a lovely, clean cottage nearby and near the water ( for walks with the dog) with a loft bed and all amenities ( didn’t see a dishwasher or pods for laundry)

Nice cabin on the quaint Camano Island. State Parks and Preserves are great places to get out walking and enjoying fantastic views. All this without having to deal with the understaffed Washington State Ferry system!

We had a lovely week on Camano. The cabin was as advertised and well maintained. Check in was seamless and there isn’t a giant list of chores to do to check out, which was appreciated. The only slight quibble we had was with the somewhat ungenerous policy of giving a tiny bit of dish soap and precisely 2 rolls of toilet paper and 2 laundry soap pods. They make it clear that you have to stock household items yourself. And compared to most houses I’ve rented, they provide you very little in the way of household items. We had to buy everything from cooking oils to salt and pepper. Most places will usually have more of the basics available. And the house could use more board games and the like. Also confusing because the house instructions mentioned a dishwasher but this particular cabin doesn’t have one. But these are minor quibbles. Overall we had a great time. Saw rabbits and deer in the yard at dawn and dusk. Made cozy fires at night and had dinner on the deck. A very peaceful place.

This vacation home is surrounded by beautiful trees in a very quiet neighborhood. The are plenty of comfy places to sit inside and out with a book. We loved all the deck space around the house. Sadly, getting to the beach requires a car, and going for a walk isn't very relaxing, with no sidewalks and narrow shoulders. I recommend this place if you're looking for a place to stay in and chill.

picture doesn't justly represent the cabin
The picture makes the cabin look small and somewhat convoluted - it is not either. The projection with the separate roof is a charming dining area with windows on three sides. The cabin itself is very spacious for two people and well-appointed for extended stay. There was nothing that we were wanting throughout our stay.
The area around the cabin is beautiful with mature trees and abundant wildlife, we particularly appreciated the red fox and deer. Hikes from this location are extensive, particularly with a connector trail to Cama Beach State Park located a short distance down the road. The coffee shop at Cama Beach is worth the walk. We also found everything that we could possibly imagine needing foodwise at the Whole Foodsesque IGA, located ten minutes away at Camano Plaza.

thoughtful and much appreciated. Becca also texted us to make sure that everything was alright, we had unusual snowfall throughout our stay, and even offered to show up and shovel the one-hundred-yard driveway before our departure, something our four-wheel drive vehicle did not need, but the offer was above and beyond the call of duty.

The writers cottage had everything I'd expect - cozy setting, comfortable space, privacy, essentials stocked. There's not much in the way of activities in the property, but there's plenty close by and our purpose was to be intentionally inactive. It's a lovely place for a break.

Lovely cabin, perfect for a couple. The weather had turned cold, so the cabin was chilly and took a while to heat up. We weren’t familiar with TV, so didn’t have much reception.

Peaceful Cottage!
This was a very comfortable place to stay. Everything was easy to find (light switches are labeled- that was the best) and it was well stocked with everything I needed. The only downfall was the bed- it really needs to be upgraded to a regular mattress and box spring. I wanted to recommend the place to my mom and her husband but the bed would not be good enough for them unfortunately. Everything else is amazing!

Loved this place. So cute. String lights outside on huge patio and yard with grill, firepit, and plenty of seating, huge double doors open (with big screen) to the inside which has a fireplace, flat screen TV, open kitchen with the basics for cooking and meals, washer dryer (bring your own detergent), all sorts of coffee makers. Cute loft upstairs opens to the rest of the house, which I liked, but for groups=minimal privacy. Very clean. My only complaint, which hopefully was just an oversight, was that there was half a roll of toilet paper when I arrived and no replacement rolls, so ran out the day after checking in. Would definitely stay here again.
