**OCEAN FRONT STUDIO APARTMENT- POOL**SURFING**HIKING**AMERICAN AIR DIRECT*****

This is a lovely place, picturesque and surrounded by flowers and greenery in a great location cery close to the beach. The hosts are truly wonderful people, easy to deal with and quick to respond. Everything exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely stay here again on a future trip. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at the studio. Sylvie and Christopher are very generous and discret. The location is excellent to acces the national park and the trails. We have access to a shared pool with the owners. The location is also very interesting to acces the "surf beach" a few steps down the street. The only thing was that I was confused when I reserved. I red it was a 3/2.5 house. In the reveiw, you can red that some people had acces to the room upstairs. It is not the case anymore. The location is a well equiped but small studio with a kitchenette.

Wonderful
Absolutely loved staying here for a week. Did a solo vacation to somewhere I’ve never been. Sylvie was so incredibly kind and helpful, she gave so many tips about where to hike, eat and visit. The studio was so close to the beach it was nice to get to walk down and spend time on the sand or relax in the backyard area. The location was central to all the activities Martinique has to offer. I would love to come back again in the future to explore more. The lighthouse and cove are must visit spots very close to the house.

We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were beautifully done. It's a short walk to the surf and sand. Sylvie also gave great suggestions about dining and hiking stunning Martinique.

If you are considering visiting Martinique, look no further! Our family of five just returned from an absolutely wonderful vacation. Sylvie and Christopher were friendly and welcoming, had great advice, and were just a pleasure. Rue du Surf is a charming beachside community, very safe, with plenty of happy surfers. Their home is beautiful - updated kitchen, well maintained, private back yard with a pool and colorful landscaping and just a very comfortable place to relax and enjoy. There are two bedrooms on the main floor (queen and one with two twins) and a master suite with a king size bed and it’s own bathroom upstairs with brilliant ocean views. It is the best location to Tartan’s well known surfing beach - less than 100 yards before you touch the water, with a surf shop three doors down that offers lessons. We were also pleasantly surprised to hear that the property abuts a national park, with a delightful network of trails including one to a lighthouse with breathtaking views.
When you visit, be sure to rent a car. Once at the house, outdoor activities can all be reached by foot but a car is needed for shopping and there is a dedicated parking space. If you have never visited Martinique, the roads are better than many areas of mainland US - much better than other Caribbean islands.
Hope this review persuades you to consider a visit, send our new friends in Martinique a warm bon jour, and have a wonderful stay!

My wife and I stayed at Surfside for our honeymoon and we weren't disappointed. The house had abundant amenities including air conditioning, pool, beach access, and walking distance to two restaurants. The hosts speak English, which is a tremendous help for American travelers who may be lacking in French language skills. Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Tartane.

This house was amazing. My favorite VRBO I property I have ever stayed in. Everything in the house worked perfectly. The A/C's, the plumbing, the electric, and everything else you can think of. When we arrived the house was completely spotless. Cleaner than my own house. I mean sparkling clean. The beds are very comfortable. The decor and ambiance is stunning. Luxury surrounded by nature. I personally loved the location. It is about a 30 second walk to the beach. There is super fun surf in front of the house. Plenty of different waves to chose from. The town of La Trinite is an adorable town. Several great restaurants to dine at. Sylvie and Chris are wonderful hosts. The helped us late at night find the house when we were arriving. They made sure we knew where to go, what to do, and if we were comfortable. I have thought about Martinique every day since we have arrived home. I cannot wait to go back.

We stayed at this property for 6 days in March 2018. The home is clean, maintained and well-appointed. A large deck with dining and seating areas is easily accessible from the living room and kitchen of the home through wide doorway which creates an open-air feel that is perfect for a beachfront experience. Each of the three bedrooms are served by powerful and quiet air conditioners to provide a comfortable sleeping environment. The beach is accessible from a footpath that is steps away from the home. I believe this is one of the nicer beaches on the island: it is large, clean and free from seaweed, which seems to plague some other beaches on Martinique. The homeowner, Sylvie was great. She was resident on the property, in a downstairs apartment to the home, but was in no way obtrusive. She was available (and helpful) if we had questions about the local area, but otherwise you would not know she is there. Overall, I felt this was perfect house for my family's beach escape to Martinique, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Perfect house, perfect pool, perfect hosts (!!), perfect area. Supermarket 10 min drive, small market in town, friendly people. You've got to have a car! Will be back for sure!

Loved everything about it!
The roar of surf. This lovely house, separated from the beach by 50 yards of national forest and on a shallow beach over which water is constantly coursing, lets you always hear the ocean. The house is well laid out, fantastically equipped for cooking and spotlesslessly clean. The weather in Martinique is so nice that there are no glass windows in the kitchen and livinging room, just big openings that you close with shutters at night. Sylvie and Christopher are lovely people and great hosts. This part of Martinique is not crowded and is great for hikers and surfers. It also has many very good restaurants nearby, as well as nice fresh marketing in Tartane and Trinite. We loved everthing about the House and the Island and will definitely be back. The consensus highlight was sailing from Galion Bay to Treasure Bay for snorkeling and lunch. The Norwegian flights from the U.S. make this destination newly convenient.

Delightful, relaxing respite
We stayed five nights in January 2018--it was our first time in Martinique, and we thoroughly enjoyed both the house and surrounding area. The house was wonderful--quiet neighborhood, with a modern, fully equipped kitchen, and a pool where we enjoyed daily morning swims. The outdoor area was particularly inviting, with a spacious dining table and hammocks--we were tempted just to stay home and soak in the ambience. But we found lots to do outside--a small beach popular with local surfers was within walking distance, as was superb hiking in the Caravelle Nature Preserve. A car is necessary for exploring other parts of the island--in the nearby village of Tartane, we had a delicious lunch at one of the outdoor cafes lining the main street; we didn't make it to what looked like a great fish market in Tartane but enjoyed the outdoor market in Trinite. Also thoroughly enjoyed a day of kayaking and swimming that we booked through Robert's Kayaks in Pointe Rouge. Sylvie and Christopher were warm, welcoming hosts and generous with advice on outings and restaurants, to say nothing of sharing the delicious fruit from their yard. Highly recommended!

Our stay at Sylvie and Christopher's beautiful house was wonderful! They were very friendly and attentive hosts during our stay. The house is beautifully decorated and only steps from a beautiful beach which is great for children and surfers alike. My children also loved the pool and grounds. The gourmet kitchen had everything you could need to prepare wonderful meals. Our family loved the outside patio/dining room as it was perfect for meals and just relaxing. We cant wait to come back!

Martinique Profunde!
We loved our stay in this Presqu'ile de la Caravelle property, newly renovated and private. We called it our "home at the end of the world," way out on a peninsula far from the busier tourist destinations in Martinique. One of the Caribbean's great surfing beaches is a few minutes' walk downhill, and good hiking trails just up the road. Sylvie and Christopher could not have been more gracious hosts--they were attentive and friendly without being intrusive, and had some good ideas on local restaurants and places to visit. The property itself is impeccably clean and well-appointed, with a unique loft master bedroom up a ladder-stair (not for the infirm or over-served). But this place is really all about the expansive outdoor spaces--a large dining table, living area, hammocks and pool--where we spent all our time. Be aware that you are not in a densely-populated resort area--it's a healthy drive on twisty roads to visit these places. But if you are looking to get away from it all in a place of natural beauty, this is the property for you.

Beautiful house, great location, amazing hosts!
The house was exactly as described, if not better! The outdoor space is perfect for enjoying Martinque's weather and the house is big enough that you don't feel cramped (there was six of us - two couples and two friends). If anything is missing, Sylvie and Christopher are there to provide it. They are around if needed (in an apartment below the house) but not overbearing, always generous and gracious. The location can't be beat. Tartane is a lovely and authentic fishing village. A small superette (a bigger grocery store is a short 20-30 minutes drive away), bakery, local coffee roaster, restaurants and fish market are five minutes drive away. You can walk in two minutes to beautiful Anse Bonneville. Super quiet during the week, with only a few surfers enjoying the waves (ideal for beginner/intermediate surfers).
We all thoroughly enjoyed the house and would gladly stay there again!
Thank you Sylvie and Christopher for an awesome stay!

Perfect!
We agree with all the great input from previous reviews and will try to add to them. Chris and Sylvie are wonderful.
Norwegian Air excellent from JFK. Book as early as possible for best fares. Suggest making seat reservation.
Rental car reservation is a must - see Trip Advisor forums for good tips on who to rent from. We used Budget and have no complaints.
House wifi may be slower than what you are used to.
Neighborhood walking distance restaurant (named 'Lighthouse') closed Sunday & Monday.
Mamy Nounou restaurant - recommend reservation so plan accordingly. Need car.
Coco Beach Cafe restaurant - another good one on adjoining beachfront by car only.
Don't underestimate eating at home - fresh ingredients, French wine and great ambience!
We felt the neighborhood was very safe; built on a hillside roundabout so no through traffic. The only 'noise' you hear is the wonderful sound of crashing waves 24/7.
Hiking trails mentioned are outstanding. You can do as little as 40 minutes to lighthouse roundtrip (a must) or 3 hours around the whole peninsula. We drove to the trailhead; starting from the house would add extra time and is not as enjoyable since many cars may be driving past you on the dirt road heading for the trailhead. Early morning weekdays (7am) good as weekends and mid day can be crowded and hot. If you are an avid runner you will love these shady trails.
Activities on our trip - Montagne Pelee, Les Gorges de la Falaise. See Trip Advisor for details.

THE place to be on Martinique!
Sylvie and Christopher's three bedroom house looks brand new, just like the photos, and is in a great spot to enjoy the swimming and surfing beaches of the Caravelle peninsula, as well as the hiking trails in the nature reserve which starts five minutes from your door. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen so well equipped that we ate nearly all meals at home, and the pool just great with no chemical or chlorine odor at all. The hosts are available for questions or suggestions, without being intrusive at all. Sylvie even sent us home with some of her homemade "cherry" jam to spoon in our rum for a sweet cocktail. We highly recommend their home for your Martinique vacation!

Great house in a great location
This beautiful house is located in a quiet corner of Martinique, close to a surf beach that, at low tide, is also great for kids.
It's a also short drive to restaurants, boulangerie, a market, etc.
The house is very comfortable and well equipped with everything (appliances, bakeware, etc. ) one would need to prepare meals at home.
The owners are very kind and helpful and the home, pool, and grounds are in excellent condition.
We had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend this vacation rental !!!

Absolultely Amazing
We couldn't have been more pleased with our vacation to Martinique. We got saw a deal on plane tickets out of Boston and decided why not! Once we learned there was surfing there my husband was all in!! The island gorgeous. Very green, lush, and mountainous!! I didn't see any poverty like you would see on other more known islands. French is the language of choice. We ran into about 5 people the whole trip that spoke English. Everyone was so kind and accommodating to the language barrier. We just made it work. Chris and Sylvie were amazing from the first time I emailed about their property. Responses are always thorough and fast. Chris met us at the house the first night and showed us around. Our plane got in at 630pm on a Sunday night. By the time we rented a car and found our way to the house through the hills and rain we arrived at around 8pm. We asked Chris where the closest store or restaurant was and learned that nothing is open on
Sunday night. So if you are traveling from the US with a late arrival bring food to get you through till the next day. Chris was amazing... he showed up with 2 frozen pizzas!!! Life saver as our 2 kids were starving!! The surf shop with board rentals is a quick minute walk up the road. and the beach is a 2 minute walk from the house. So easy!! Every day- morning noon and evening there are surfing waves. They don’t get a tide so you can always surf. Hiking around the house in the nature reserve was gorgeous. Bring water and snacks!! The pastry shop in Tartane is delicious! Mamy Nounou's restaurant was to die for!! The house is beautiful and well equipped. The outdoor living is the best. The salt water pool was a favorite of the kids. For English speaking travelers bring books in English and know the TV is French. Definitely an adventure vacation!! We will go back!!

Beautiful house, 1 min walk from the surf beach
We shared the house with another couple for a week and loved it. Chris was staying in a studio below the house, which made it easy to reach him when needed. Sylvie did a great job organizing our stay and was prompt to call us back when we reached out to her before we left for paradise. Great house in a great location!

Amazing Family Vacation
We had such a wonderful time on our vacation in Martinique. The home is beautiful, clean, well maintained, well laid out, and has everything you need. It's a one minute walk to the ocean but it felt like we were in the middle of a tropical jungle in the back yard. Our 2 boys loved the pool and the short walk to a sandy beach with places to explore. My husband surfed every chance he got and the waves didn't disappoint. Sylvie (owner) helped us every step of the way, answering questions, sending us directions, and even organizing meals and recommending restaurants. The village of Tartane is a short drive from the house, and so quaint, with tiny restaurants and plenty of fresh fish from the day's local catch. The walking trails around the house were also a nice surprise, with fantastic views and tiny little hidden beaches.

A beautiful, comfortable house in an incredible location
Our party of six had a wonderful stay at this villa in Martinique. The house was immaculate, tastefully decorated and extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen which lacked nothing. The salt water pool in the backyard was perfect - the water felt like silk. Tartane, a small village devoted to surfing and fishing, is lovely and the surrounding countryside is spectacular. There is lots to see and do. Our hosts and their friend David were genial and very helpful. In fact, Chris went out to find and rescue us the night of our arrival when we were lost.
Our only caveat: don't try to find the place in the dark if you arrive late and tired.
All in all, a perfect vacation spot.
