- Nice room, well decorated. - Friendly and helpful staff. - Location can’t get better, specially if your visiting the cheese market, your in the heart of the old town

- Cars can only reach up to 100m to the hotel so luggage must be carried for a bit over cobblestone - Completely open bathroom/ toilet, absolutely no door or even curtain, from bed you can watch your partner do their business, what a romantic way to spend a few days together. Genius design. - Trip hazard on the step to the shower/toilet. there is a 1cm ledge reaching out at the end of the step, very dangerous design or lazy craftsmanship - Window to courtyard is nice but view is limited and the exhaust fans of the kitchen run passt giving off a smell. - Rooms are upstairs and their is no elevator - Previous reviews mention the noise, which we found to be tolerable. it’s an old building so the ceilings and walls let through a bit more noise. Having stayed not over the weekend we found the noise acceptable - similar to other hotels.

The staff were lovely - I got there late and they stayed behind to check me in. They also helped me book a taxi the following day!

I was arriving later than normal check in. It was confirmed that this wouldn’t be an issue. I was greeted at the door shortly after calling and taken to a really nice suite which I wasn’t expecting. Nice bedroom with open kind of bathroom & wash basin but with a toilet and shower behind frosted glass doors. The room had a split level feel and I loved the high pitched roof and exposed beams

The location was fantastic in the heart of the old part of Alkmaar - very pretty and charming. The room was beautifully decorated and very quirky in the loft space of a traditional dutch building.

We didn't realise before booking that the toilet was only separated from the room by a glass door that didn't shut properly. There was no ceiling on the toilet cubicle so it was awkward and embarrassing to use the toilet from a sound and smell point of view. We did have breakfast in the hotel and regretted it as for an extra €30 it was bad value and there were plenty of lovely cafes in Alkmaar where we could have had breakfast.

Nice room, which was nicely decorated. The bed was comfortabel and they had a nice rain shower. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nice, but nothing to special. The location of the hotel was super.

It was a bit noisy, probably due to it being an old building. Als the doors closed quite loud from the rooms and in the hallway.

Lovely place, the rooms are really clean, fresh and have great facilities. Highly reccomended

A charming little gem in the middle of the town. spacious room and it even had a small patio to sit out on. very easy to just go down and walk around, find places to eat and do some sight seeing and shopping.

no separation door to the bathroom. 😀 One could not go to the hotel directly as it was a walking street. but it was fine as there a public garage where one could park the car. maybe a 15 minute walk away.

Nice location in old town area. Friendly and helpful staff. Inexpensive room cost. However, you get what you pay. It's quite basic, nothing fancy. Small but comfortable. The soap dispenser didn't work in the bathroom. I couldn't press the pump of soap dispenser. Other than that, everything was fine.

There are no kettle and coffee machine in the room. They are placed outside for all first-floor tenants.

The room is beautiful and very clean. The location is excellent, right at the heart of the beautiful Alkmaar.

My room was so pretty and cozy, i had to really work up the motivation to go outside and check out the town (which is very cute: loads of little shops and quaint buildings, nice people and tasty cheeses) it's easy enough to catch a train and go to Amsterdam, knowing it's only for a few hours and when you've had enough of the crowds and the sensory overload,you can just come back here and sleep a peaceful little sleep in a big comfy bed. If travelling with family you might want something with a door on the toilet, but travelling alone I wasn't bothered.

Because it’s above a restaurant it can become noisy later in the evenings and it can do with shower doors.

Nice and comfortable room in a a pleasant hotel, with a great Illy coffee machine in the hallway. Rooms are spacious and beds very comfortable. Plenty of different lights offer all the possibilities to adjust lightning to personal preferences. The restaurant is a very high recommendation. Quality food, atmosphere and service!

Some noises late night/early morning noises due to mechanical ventilation (I suppose) in adjacent rooms, sounding like a small engine. But that is not unexpected in older buildings and certainly not dramatic

very stylish with an exceptional location across the canal from the Cheese Market… Communication was excellent- easy to check in. We left our bikes safely in the large underground Fiets garage down the street (make sure to park in the overnight area!!!) Easy to experience the cheese market.
